That is freaking live!! I’ve seen him live in concert, and his voice is surreal, ethereal, perfection. He’s an utterly stunning performer. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

George Michael is an amazing singer. And a kind person who did a lot of charity anonymously, not discovered until after his death. He wrote this when he was 18. Even though his Wham bandmate Andrew Ridgely had nothing to do with the song’s creation, he gave Andrew co-writing credit so Andrew would get future royalties. HUGE hit in ‘84-85.

I was there that night, making a dream come true! ❤️
And it was also there that George met the love of his life for the first time, the one who for sad reasons, inspired George’s best albums.
George will be forever missed by his fans.

George Michael wrote this song when he was just 17. 👌🏼❤️

George wrote and composed the song at the age of 17. The tune was included on the last Wham! album and is about George's first girlfried when he was still at school, a very personal lyric. He listened to many different saxophone players until he found the one that matched his musical vision. - Andrew wrote maybe one point of all the notes, but the majority of the whole song, especially the lyrics and the sax part, was written and composed by George alone. He was the mastermind of the duo and later also the creator of his own work.

There is no denying his incredible voice!! And yes, this song is the polar opposite of "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," both from the Wham! album Make It Big, on which they had a few really fun and/or good songs. He is a very worthwhile listen. His first solo album, Faith, had a couple of similarly soulful songs with "One More Time" and "Kissing A Fool.," and there are several other really good songs on it. And you really owe it to yourself to check out George Michael with Queen at the Freddie Mercury Tribute - especially "Somebody To Love." You can never replace Freddie, but George Michael and - a couple decades later - Adam Lambert do a really good job with what can be a difficult catalog to sing. Thank you for sharing it with us.

When I was in school early 80s I hated Wham, but as I got older and mellowed and realised not to take music so seriously, I realised that they have some great fun songs.
But George Michael as an artist is top class and well worth digging out some more of his songs

I came to appreciate George's voice in retrospect. The main pop hits of Wham were not on my listening to list, but didn't dislike them and would jig along to them while juggling three under 3 kiddies. (The twins were called The Wham twins by staff in hospital down to our choice of names for them. I had to ask why they were called that lol ) But George had the most incredible voice and emotion. Thanks Gail.

Deon Estus (1956 - 2021) was the bass player for the duo WHAM! (George Michael & Andrew Ridgeley) - and continued to work with GM when he went solo.
Deon Estus was also a singer, and GM collaborated with him on his track "HEAVEN HELP ME."
GM wrote songs with his heart - and sang them to us straight from his soul.

George had an incredible gift to really affect the heart and soul of the listener. He was able to take you to a place where you could identify what he was feeling when he was delivering a song. My friends, that is a gift that rarely is possessed by a singer..By the way, George wrote this song and all of the lyrics on his own. He was on a bus from school to his part-time job while writing in his head. Andrew contributed by some of the guitar melody and chords. Never the last, it was a collaborative effort

George was a gifted singer and performer and sadly gone far too soon. Watch “Live at Concert of Hope 1993 introduced by David Bowie”, “A Different Corner (Live On BBC Parkinson Show)” to cry. He always had excellent backing singers live

This is live cos he gets the first verse slightly wrong and he's never done that before, he turned away 10 sax players until the last one got what he had in his head, the story is true he wrote it about his own experience, it has been covered by loads of artists 😊❤

ok, can't help but add to the choir of comments to 'who is this guy.' Let me put it this way, on the stage we have to great musicians, two great stars. But if one would to be chosen as THE star, it would be Tome Jones. At least to my mind. It still amazes me how some... hm... younger people interested in music have never heard of Tom Jones. It's almost as bad as saying 'I know music, but never listened to The Beatles.' At least to my, somewhat older, mind. Let me recommend Green Green Grass of Home in his interpretation and Delilah. You won't regret. Oh, and of course Sex Bomb! 😁
