"it feels like she's trying to protect her innocence" you have no idea how proud of you that statement makes me. @@ranol602 yes, they showed it as a metaphor for her, trying to hold on to her peaceful, innocent side, then showing her choosing to sacrifice that part of her to become more ruthless, symbolized by the lamb toy getting destroyed and fed to the wolf trinket. Yet another masterpiece🤩
Nah, it’s difficult to see the lamb represent innocence. The first time we see her she’s pregnant and just fight in a battlefield. She has litteraly no "innocence" to protect. Lamb = his baby.
@@josh9782 well first of all, the scene with the lamb in the desert appears to be a memory - by then she wasnt a warlord yet and still had her innocence. But also, her child would be innocent. The lamb would represent mels innocence anyway

Thank you, I appreciate it as we spent so much time educating me on the lore between when Arcane released and now, it feels like a whole new world right now knowing how much amazing stuff there is to know
Glad you reacted to this! A little info: That "Pantheon" looking warrior, was actually THE Wolf. She was fighting dead, same as Tryndamere on "Still here". Kindred look different in every region, because they're more like a "social construct". Of course they have some things in common (like the mask and symbols), but in Noxus, they don't worship Lamb: noxians believe that Lamb's duty is to guide people to Wolf (that's why Lamb offers Ambesa the statue with the wolves heads in the music video). They want to die fighting, since that's the only thing that will bring them honor. If you pay attention, the warrior has a wolf-shaped shield. They portrayed him to look like Pantheon because this is gonna be a skin line for the game, and it's gonna be an actual Pantheon skin, but lore-wise, he's dead itself :)
No, that was not the wolf, that was Atreus, the aspect of war, Patheon is the human incarnation of Atreus, I think the metaphor here is that she was forged in war, and they (Noxians ) die by the wolf, they refuse the lamb (peaceful death). Kindred was coming for her but it was not her time yet.
@@dzibanart8521 It's a smart move by Riot. That is Pantheon's skin in league, but in the story you could see his shield looking like the wolf's face and he even had the mark. It was more like a trial from the wolf I believe. (I just watched Necrit's video while having some small knowledge)
Love your take Ola! Thank you for the quick turnaround time on this one. This music has been so hype, I havent stopped listening to this song. The singer's voice and the message of this video are both so strong and inspiring.
How I interpret the music video: In a near death state, it seems Ambessa's consciousness went to a type of Noxian mythos "Valhalla" (realm of honorably fallen warriors, from the past, present, and possible future), was tested, and was proven worthy of joining the pantheon of "Wolf's Chosen" in the afterlife. But then her unborn child, which appears to have magical powers, was able to subconsciously use its magic to resuscitate Ambessa and brought her back from her near death state / "Valhalla".
"Jericho swain, a raven will never kill a wolf!" Is that a hint towards Swain being the one after her family?? He killed to fox, kino, but not the wolf
Ambessa is chosen by wolf (kindred)for being an incarnation "of the wolf" in a like Valhalla thing just like Panthéon, Katarina or Swain because all of them faced death at one moment in their life. But you need to sacrifice something for being accepted. Initialy when the video start Wolf came for the baby and not Ambessa and the lamb symbolise this baby in the vision. (The first Child of Ambessa is a boy called Kino if i remember correctly), that’s why you see a little boy hold the lamb and more interessant is, in the vision, the moment she chose to sacrifice the lamb she can face Panthéon and is finally chosen. But when she open his eyes, you see the Wolf leave because Ambessa has chose his Child. That’s why she has voicelines in Arcane and ingame Who say she’s gonna do everything for his family. She’s so fucking badass.
She was protecting the path of the Lamb that is the path of a peaceful life, where you accept death when it comes. She was forced to give up on it to join the path of the Wolf that is the path of the warrior, the ONE AND ONLY path allowed in Noxus. The Pantheon that she faced was in fact the Wolf disguised as the previous choosen of the Wolf, and now she became herself a part of the Wolf. That's why she's saying that she was raised by WOLF
Netflix has nothing to do with Arcane from the production end. They have no creative input or say so in the direction of the show. They simply host the production on their streaming service. In this case, just like with the "Enemy" video, Riot released the Ambessa video simultaneously on RUclips, Netflix and Vimeo to broaden the promotion of the show.
keep in mind that voicelines can be patched and changed later. If there would be spoilers they would leave them out and patch in after the show releases
It's amazing how you recognize Kindred, the innocence represented in the lamb and the fact that she's pregnant, almost no one notices that, great reaction!
So my theory of the meaning of this... The wolf is death, death holds off in claiming her because it sees either a possible future in her or in her daughter mel. Then we see her challenged by pantheon. I bet this is pantheon the god, not atreus the man. Represents war testing her. Also swain and katarina makes sense cuz it was is possibly Katarina that killed her son. Also Swain represents the political environment that tests her. Then finally death itself tests her. Death is chosing to keep her alive because of a possible future where she could be chosen to be a new aspect or maybe Mel. 😉 The lamb might mean her sacrificing her innocence The whole ascension thing could also just be a medafor, which im leaning towards.
In the sentinels event, after it finished, they changed Gwen voicelines to reflect her entire adventure with her friends. So maybe when season 2 is done they'll probably add the rest of Ambessa's voicelines, since it's very odd that for now she doesn't interact a lot with piltover and Zaun champions. I saw the video on the league channel, and I think that's the one that has more views, didn't know Netflix also released it The child carrying the lamb when she cries is just her as a child. Kino dies in season one of arcane so that doesn't happen in a long time from this video. I think she's pregnant from Mel here because the golden glow of the fetus reminds me of last scene of season one when Mel glows Her voice in league sometimes sounds off idk why There's Jae medarda and Jago medarda in the lore, but because arcane is still in the past maybe Jae is still a kid. Medarda is a strong clan
Your read on this spoiled other reactions for me. Your eye for detail and symbolism was fantastic, not to mention how quickly you pull lore/info out of your memory
Based on the kindred's lore, the Kindred's appearance varies on what region they're depicted, on this case its in noxus. The wolf in the beginning is also kindred since Ambessa is dying. Noxians doesn't worship the lamb only the wolf. They believe the only way to die is to fight until death and not die in a peaceful way. I also noticed that right after the fetus shot, the scene where ambessa wakes up the soil around her is glowing red that slowly fades away. ambessa get rid of the arrow in her stomach. It looks like the soil around her has a mark of the "Lambs respite" the Kindred's ult in game which prevents anything inside to die.
The trailer is here to promote a skin line (chosen of the wolf, with skins for Pantheon, Katarina, Swain, and Ambessa), and the clip is a vision that the wolf sends to Ambessa while she is dying, she offers her god power but she must loose her child (she is pregnant), but at the end she chooses to keep her child (good chances that the child isn't Mel but the son), and the skin Riot will release for Ambessa will be the path where she decides to loose her child to become a god, basically (you can see at the end the wolf going away cause Ambessa "refused" his offer). The clip is lore accurate, but in the version of the story we know in Arcane and in the clip she decided to refuse the wolf's proposition and to keep her child. By the way it's the same story that in the clip "Still here" where Kindred sends visions to Yasuo for exemple (a vision of himself when he is old).
my interpretation on this, is she more took on role of warrior than a mother.. The taking of the 3 headed wolf which made her transform into her true self???
