Great project as always, Rye! I look forward to them all. It would have been great if you showed your mate shifting that swing arm bolt, we might all have learned something from him. Perhaps next time please?
Since you are now doing this fairly regularly, I highly suggest getting some better tools. Impact wrench for those tougher ones, your wrists will thank you. Great content as standard👍
The comment about impact tools is right, but you could go down the battery route, the parkside stuff from Lidl is really good and very reasonably priced 👍
@@davidcrookes5372 I have invested in a DeWalt power drill and impact drill but I just need to get the adapters to give me access to use of larger sockets
When you're using a blow torch to loosen a bolt, you have to hold the heat on it for some time, and often when you start to hear it crackle that's when all the grud holding it is starting to melt and burn
Well done mate, that pivot bolt took some battering!! Love seeing the old school work, just an mx stand, set of tools and hard work 👌 loving the videos on this one and looking forward to the next upload!
If you are hammering out a stuck bolt then keep the nut on it to begin with. Just loosen off a few turns and hit the nut with the hammer. Then remove the bolt as it will be loose. Also get yourself a JIS screwdriver if you are going to working on Japanese bikes of this era. It may look like a Philips headed screw but they mash up really easily
Great vlog, this is going to be a pretty easy resto, once the frame and swing arm has been refinished ,suspension sorted, it will look as if it's nearly a rolling chassis..
Well done getting the swingarm bolt out, I kept saying to myself hit it, stop tapping it and hit the thing 👍😁. I know how hard they can be to remove ,had to use a 50 ton press in the past to get one out. Looking forward to seeing what mess the engine is in ,hopefully just a clean up, bearings, seals and a rebore is all it needs, fingers crossed its not wrecked
I had to put an a 1996 rm 125 frame swing arm and engine in a press to get one of these out once.. it's the collars that roll on the needles that get stuck on the bolt, you got so luck 😅 sometimes it comes to you have to cut the swing arm off
We have all been there, trying to do jobs with only the minimum amount of tools. Well done for hanging in there. I bet the old girl cleans up rather well. Can`t wait to see the insides of the engine and gearbox😲
Isnt the whole thing about two strokes that the oil is mixed with the fuel and therefore there’d be no oil in the engine when you take the drain bolt of cause everything gets burned with combustion
The oil to lubricate the clutch/gearbox resides in the engine. This needs changing more often than a 4 stroke as typically there is less of it. Whereas the oil for lubricating the piston/cyl is mixed with fuel in the tank.

@@BikesofRye Yea I just saw your blackbird update after I posted, sorry mate 😅 Love your content, I couldnt do half as good as you with all the editing and camerawork. Keep on 👍🏻
Don't waste the time and effort doing a nut and bolt restoration. I've built a number of bikes, from wrecks worse than yours, but I've not restored any. Just focus on making it look good rather than like it is sat on the showroom floor. After the first hour on it, when the frame paint is scuffed and the panels get some scratches, you won't have wasted all of that extra effort on pointless tarty bits that are getting knocked about.
Motor cross bikes are well easier to restore as there’s nothing there really.. 🤔 the thing is to remember.. take notes of where everything goes? It just makes things quicker plus take a few pictures 😉 that helps. But I’ll be honest that cr -125 is a right nail 🫣good luck and get ya check book out 😂😂😂😂

Get yourself 3/8. & 1/2 breaker bars, stop using ratchets to break tight bolts, you’ll wreck the ratchet system.
