You’ve got to respect the fact that he’s not sitting in some decked-out studio with all kinds of acoustic panels and million-dollar consoles glowing in the background. Just a guy...in his house...with some instruments...making music. Thanks for sharing, Moby! Please do another one! 👏
He has a big collection of gear (unless he sold it all), but being in a cluttered room can be distracting, minimising the studio with a select few items for now can help declutter your mind and help focus, the rest can stay in storage for another day.
I love it when successful musicians pass their knowledge onto the younger generations. It is truly a selfless act and shows the confidence Moby has in his ability and his success.
Moby, I used to work as a recording engineer in major label recording studios 15 years ago. Back then, I honored the policy of keeping interactions between myself and famous clients professional. I remembered one time when I debated with myself, "what if I do a session with Moby?" I decided then, I DGAF, I'd pour my heart out and straight up tell you how influential your music is to me. I now work as an automotive engineer, but I still enjoy watching videos about making EDM. Thank you for doing these how-to videos. I wish you would have made them available 15 years ago.
I just listened to M"s audio book and moved to listen to music from this mind. Each song I listened to took me closer to all that is important in the world and released me from trivial mind trap succubus. MOBY such a special human being I am not sure of this realm. Gratitude for teaching us all your inspiration in this video. I head right over to my keyboard after watching. If not for my head and ears to play, for my soul. And tomorrow head to the ocean the greatest rhythm there is for the head heart and soul. Moby should forever live and glide along this earth influencing the ear and soul like the vibration of the glass harmonica and know his creativity through music touches souls and changes thier thought patterns from dark to light. If you reach one person to feel enchanted by your music seraphim; but you've changed millions. Live it! Know it. Keep on!
moby you really are one of the few musicians who give messages in their songs to improve the world, I hope you continue making videos to raise awareness of people like my only love among others, I also appreciate that you want to cultivate us humans and teach us music
"Who thinks about marimbas?" Well, Steve Reich for one. Six of 'em, to be precise... Love this breakdown, Moby, thanks for doing this. The track gives me tingles in the way Go did back in the day
In stepping into your world, I step into the magic of your soul. The mystery of the unknown almost becomes known and my soul is enlightened. Thank you Moby. Blessings.
Thank you for your generosity.....an artist that does not care about all being money but more down to earth sharing your music to all of us. Your music is one of my favorites!
I have followed your work for years. Porcelain was my favourite song when it came out, and it's still my favourite. I've been to every concert you've ever given in Vancouver Canada. And not sure if you remember, but you and I chatted while you were on stage at the Vogue theatre in Vancouver, you kindly autographed your song list while you were on stage and gave it to me. I framed it, along with my concert ticket from that night, and it's hung on my wall ever since. You're amazing!
Моби - бесспорный мастер. К сожалению, для многих он отошел от популярного направления и сосредоточился на более экспериментальной музыки. Многие меломаны проиграли от этого, так как такую музыку не ставят на радио и не включают в хитпарады
To be honest, I never really listened to your music, because of all the noise out there. But as an upcoming producer (hopefully) and as a human being I really appreciate thought out music and people who put a lot of effort into their work + sharing their thought process. I will definitely check out more of your work and I hope you stay as true and happy to yourself as possible. Thank you Moby.
This guy is the undisputable proof that if you believe in what you want to do you can do it, it doesn't matter if what you do is an average, boring, stale, dead-inside, spiritless music, If you do it over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over at some point it would get through and you become known by the people who listen to that music. This video shows perfectly his capability and understanding of making music. I love you Moby, you're a constant source of inspiration
When I want to hear the most perfectly angelic, epic, tear-jerking synths/strings chord progressions, I know that I can always rely on Moby. Thanks for that, dude.
Your creative process reminds me of a quote by Michael Jackson: Music tells you, what it needs. You just have to listen. Moby, thanks again for sharing! ❤️
Thanks for sharing all this. In addition to the music, also the process of making it and its background. I appreciate your music, which is easy to absorb and what makes it enjoyable is precisely the x factor that you are able to put there.
Been really enjoying these How To Make A Song videos, and some of your older videos on music too. You're a true inspiration Moby... have loved your music for years... all the very best to you!🤗
Moby, I love your work. Thanks for sharing. Please do more of this, And yes, please be pedantic and nerdy when talking about making music. I love that.
Love the music and the fact that you write about things that matter. These 'how to make a song' series are awesome and are going to earn you a lot of new fans.
Thank you Moby for sharing that with us. I love to hear you talk about everything but the best is when you talk about music and animals and your past. Hope you make an other one about an other song.
So lovely to watch your video explaining how a song was created and evolved. After understanding the composing method and background stories, the song feels so much richer and deeper. A true music genius with a warm heart!
I really enjoyed this "format" - it is really interesting to get into the things that made such great art - especially by the creator himself. Bless you and be safe!
Thank you Richard for this tutorial. Your music has accompanied me all my life. I hope this pandemic is a wake up call to the world. A rebirth of being and people learn from it that it is about the planet and not about the individual. I know we can sort it out, but it takes people like you! The ones who inspire and show a good path.
I adore it! When that bass kicks in sending massive goosebumps, you know that you're in for a very special treat! It's such a great album opener! Full on attack mode! Can't wait for the exploration of the rest of the album!;)
Thank you so much for this! When you listen to a Moby song you get some sense into what you think went on inside his mind and this insight of his creative process confirms (at least for me) my assumptions. Moby's music is lead first and foremost by emotion and experience and it was wonderful to hear it from the man himself. I truly hope this becomes a recurring thing. Also, the guitar part opening a pilates studio hahah!
So good to hear about the creative processes. Would love to see more. With things like RUclips and the internet allowing us to learn from the greats directly, it seems like we are in for some sweet exponential creative growth.
So Inspiring. Thank you so much for doing this and sharing your creative process with us. I make music myself there is just so much to learn from this videos. All Visible Objects its such an amazing album. Hearing about how the songs came to be is just facinating.
Such an excellent video! Please, any time you want to share your creative insights, you must! I know that this sounds a little bit too much, but you are my favorite DJ ever and thank you for your work! And remember that God loves you!
Thank you so much for this. Like many probably, I discovered you from Play, then went out and got everything you ever did (well, almost), and continue to do so. You are such an inspiration!
I am still blown away by your 'Depeche Mode - Never Let Me Down Again Again (Extended) Remix 2020'. When I listened to it again yesterday I thought it sounded very Spanish. Pure magic. :-)
That was wonderful. This is only the first video like this that I've watched of yours, but I'll definitely be subscribing once I send this. I'm glad to see you have so much music I haven't heard. Keep being awesome

Moby, don't apologize for going on a tangent. It's actually nice to learn more about your thought process. Your music is exceptional.
totally

He does literally EVERYTHING. Excellent moments walking in the street to nowhere with headphones on and listening to his songs.
