    Were you able to catch those phrase points in the intro and Find the 1? Did learning about call and response help you at all? I'd love to hear how you're doing! - Robin

    1 year of dancing, 1 year of not dancing on beat. Sir you have broken everything down into pieces for my brain to click. I went to social and I started dancing on beat after praticing with your samples. My energy... my goofy smile... It just radiated out of me. I was having fun for the first time dancing. thank you so much. these series are a beautiful gift. I will always remember you.

      Wow.. I don't even know what to say. It means more than you know to hear that, because I know how it feels to be confused and a beginner, on the journey, and all I want to do is make it a little easier for people. Thanks a ton Maryam, I'm glad you're enjoying the vids and I hope we get to dance sometime! Stay in touch @thedancedojo @robncampbell on insta 😃🙏🏽 -Robin

    These videos are great! Thank you for actually explaining this as opposed to mouthing off the same patronizing cliche about the clave and tumbao.

    The name dojo is truly justified. This is the single most helpful channel I have found that's helping me learn how to listen. I love the systematic approach, helpful pointers, visuals and exercises that are helping me build an intuition. Very different from "feel" approach which did not not work for me.

    I was trying to explain what I now know is called the call and response to my salsa teacher last Saturday afternoon, but I couldn't find the words. I'm trying to incorporate musicality into my dancing. Thank you for your detailed explanation.

    In this video when you count 8 I count only 4. Am I missing something?

      @@thedancedojo I am also counting only 4 beats when you're counting 8 throughout the entire song. I looked it up the BPM for this song and saw 93 which matches up to what I'm hearing. Can you please help?

    • @thedancedojo
      @thedancedojo  2 года назад +2

      Without being a musician, here's my explanation. I don't know if it's 93bpm or double that the way the instruments are being played you qould dance to it the way im counting - if not it would be waaaay too slow. Try it. I counted it that way because I can hear the conga rhythm which takes 4 beats to play, and it repeats twice within 8 counts. That's why I counted that way. Make sense? So regardless of thr bpm the internet says the instruments will dictate the speed you dance to it. sometimes we dance to a song double time if it would be too slow to dance normal time. does this help? -Robin

      @@luhome6163 You took the wrong song. Nabori from Cheo Feliciano has 93 bpm. Nabori from Lucky 7 Mambo has 175 bpm.
