Hello Robin, your course is fantastic (the weather is bad at home so i'm taking the full course today ^^). I'm a beginner (one year of salsa cubana danse) and I have problems loosing the tempo when I try some complicated move with arms (at my level...) and trouble finding it again and "restart" dancing (some told me I should never stop moving when I'm dancing and I loose the tempo, but I find it difficult to find the one when moving). So l've been looking for some timing process on the net(for a few weeks ) and i'm so happy i found yours today because its really complete and I learned so many many things I think I missed. I love this song for I've been practicing on it (hermano) , but its really simple because the one is so obvious, and when my dear salsa cubana teacher puts some slow but original and much more complicated salsa music from cuba, its sometimes really difficult to find the beat and the one (I could say the beat and marqued points in the music are more subtil and volatil -I'm french so i'm no sure its the good term-) and I think working on this song does'nt help so much for this point. Thank you so much for all those vidéos (I watched everything to this point and as I said, I love it because they filled some gaps. Moreover, its the best think I saw for "timing" (even from dance teachers because its natural like breathing for them) - There is so much on technic but nothing really good on timing (or how to improve it by taking logical stages like you do) the whole think is SOOO GOOOD .... many thank again
Wow Nicolas thanks man. I'm so happy it could help you and fill some gaps. I totally get it, Hermano is a very simple song, but it's good to start with simple first. If you're focusing on salsa cubana find a Timba playlist on spotify and work through the songs. I'm sure you'll be able to find the 1 in some and keep getting closer and closer. As you've probably noticed consistency is the key to training your ear and even if you can't hear something at first with repetition you will. Keep at it my man and thanks so much for the love! I really appreciate your message. -Robin
Hey Robin, thank you for this series on finding the beat! It has been an amazing help for me moving away from constantly counting in my head! Thank you! 💃🕺
Just came across your channel. Struggling with moving from Rumba to Salsa. Loving (and liking!) your videos as I am finding them very helpful. Embracing the journey and thanking you for your help.
Hey Stephan, the process is the same. If you've followed the Finding the Beat playlist you should have the tools to do it yourself. If you still find it challenging, keep repeating this playlist and, as your ear gets more experience, I bet you'll be able to find it! -Robin
Does anyone else find Timba music a little easier to find the 1 in? - Robin
Oh, that was quite an eye opener :). Thanks!
@@selxud You're very welcome!
Yes. Definitely. Thank you very much.
I found this song in a beginners salsa spotify list. And now I know that I counted well on the music. Thank you 😃
Dearest Robin. I really learned from this channel. This is super cool. Thanks so much.

How you find the 1 in "Voy a Portarme Mal, el noro y primera clase" there from minute 2 and than after minute 3 on? Thanks for information

Did you have to learn Spanish to be a better salsa dancer?
No definitely not. But learning Spanish can help you connect to the music, understand the culture, and learn from latinos who don't speak English.
