    The SKS was $200. The parts and conversion,DIY $240Another $120 for the Wartak rail.$99 for the ATI body. $120 scope. Total: $800 Supreme SKS. There is nothing out there in 7.62 so cheap,so reliable and with all that included.Hi Caliber sells their version in wood for $600 The Bonus above all that?A rare SKS and...
    This allows me to shoot the XCR 10+10 mags using Magwedge type 2 couplers I already shoot in my Windham AR in 7.62x39. I already have 4 pairs, 3 singles, 2/30 round I can now use in the SKS. Each mag is steel and cost less than a Tapco. To me, a wise investment in many ways. Besides it was fun to do.I hope my videos will help out those who want the same.

    My first firearm! I really like it, although my eyesight isn't what it used to be and those irons are small.

    yep love my SKS,,my go to weapon...i like in the states,,,i put a peep sight on mine shoots great..

    • @ManDuderGuy
      @ManDuderGuy 7 лет назад

      Which peep sight did you put on it?
      I used the Tech-Sights for a couple years, but eventually got frustrated because the crossbolt eventually started walking itself loose for no apparent reason and it makes dissassembly a pain in the ass.
      I was considering getting a Mojo sight, or some other type of peep that simply replaces the rear sight instead of having to modify the gun and make cleaning a pain.

    • @no1washere89
      @no1washere89 6 лет назад +1

      @@fingers967 this isn't really tactical. It won't survive in combat if drop. Looks fragile and plastic. The original stock is durable wood and has a better heat resistant when fired constantly

      I have a model 56 made in 1967 and is been kept original. 10 rounds internal magazine and original wood stock with its matching numbers.

      @@no1washere89 You do realize that almost every military has dropped wood for polymers because wood cracks and warps when exposed to heat and moisture right??

    Perfect simple assault rifle for close quarters. 320-500$ get surplus ammo and have fun with it cheap. Just wash it thoroughly due to corrosive ammo

      an "assault" rifle has to be fully automatic per modern military definition.

    Have you considered converting to the Magwedge Adapter? I would never go back to those 5 round Tapcos. This is better shooting by far. Great video too.

    • @CanadianShooterist
      @CanadianShooterist  8 лет назад +1

      +Canadiangunman yeah it sounds like a good idea, although it is an expensive conversion for an extra 5 rounds also it might become a slippery slope when shooting out in the bush. I haven't done enough research into the "Pistol mags" to warrant a conversion, but I will definitely be looking into it.

    Hey nice vid
    I would definately rec the wartak tactical rail system..I just put it on and it made a huge improvement on the rifle with casings ejection and mounting a sight or red dot or backup sights.
    also the bolt mod is so easy and now allows me to insert the tapco mag with bolt closed.
    what's new on your shopping list

    • @CanadianShooterist
      @CanadianShooterist  9 лет назад

      Tazzharm yeah from my research of rail systems for the SKS, I think the wartak is the best one out there. As for my shopping list I always wanted a lever action rifle, got my eye on a centennial 66, would love to make a video with that rifle!

    what was the long gun registration really like for you guys? did people not comply or try to go around it? we want the scoop from a real Canadian

    • @burnyburnoutze2nd
      @burnyburnoutze2nd 9 лет назад

      there were people who flat out ignored the registry, but you'd be arrested and your firearm confiscated if you didn't have the little card that proves it's registered to you on top of the gun license.
      the biggest reason why people opposed it was because of how much money was wasted; from 1995 till it was finally dissolved in 2012, over 2 BILLION DOLLARS of taxpayers money was spent. Not one crime was prevented or solved with this registry, because criminals don't buy their guns legally here; they smuggle stolen and straw purchased US guns, and they don't use grandpa's remington 870; they prefer tiny handguns that can fit in your pocket, which are prohibited class firearms up here. restricted and prohibited firearms are still registered though.
