If this video helped you, please consider subscribing to my RUclips channel! It would help me out, it's free to you, and in all likelihood RUclips will never even recommend any more of videos to you lol
Got this car as a rental, there was no manual and we were struggling to find out how to get rid of the steering assist. Found it thanks to you. Thank you!!!!!
Excited that we just bought my wife a 2023 Rogue SL with all of this technology, although she just confessed that she never learned how to use the cruise control on her 2016 Rogue SV😂
Thanks for detail explanation. This is probably best video on YT on this topic. Regards from Serbia 🇷🇸
Thank you very much!
Excellent video that details exactly how the ProPilot works and how it assists in the management of the vehicle. I just went out and tried ProPilot on my brand new Pathfinder and it is very impressive. Thanks for the great video, it is much better that the written tutorial
Thank you very much for watching!
@@CarDietrich do you know if you can use cruise control without the adaptive cruise in this model car? so you just set the speed and you decide to turn the cruise on or off
@@AndrewJones-mo8fm you can
Yeah I don't feel comfortable using it on surface streets but as you explained that was just for the video. Reason being that it doesn't detect stop signs and stop lights, it only detects a vehicle in front of you as you mentioned. I think it does need to be improved to detect cars coming in from the side. So basically slow stop and go traffic on the freeway is the best use case in my opinion.
This is an excellent discussion of how this feature works with good info on limitations. Spot on.
Good video. I looked for a video like this but it took me a while to find one that really explains how to use the cruise control. TY I subscribed
Thank you very much!
I have the 2023 Qashqai with this feature. It’s absolutely brilliant. And it’s not shy to slam the brakes if an idiot changes lane right in front of you when you are doing 120km/h on the highway. I also notice on long tight bends on the highway it will actually reduce speed slightly then accelerate on the straight.
Thanks for a great video
I just learned how to use this on the spot. It was a little scary to use at first but this video got me quickly used to it thanks for the simple explanation
Glad it helped!
Thank you For this detailed video. I test drove a pathfinder today and this freaked me all the way out lol. I'm coming from a 2011 murano so all this new technology is ...ALOT! This makes me understand it more, so more likely to use it.
Thank you very much for watching 😀
We have this similar system on our 2013 subaru outback ( eye sight system ) and yes it does reduce stress. I am surprised the system hasn't evolved much over the past 10 years. We are presently looking at a 2024 Rogue Platinum.
Great video i bought a 2023 Rogue and it works great till .. The camara stops working then it all stops no cruise control, no forward safety devices at all .. like you say ''you paid for it'' ...I you should be able use it.
I really wish this was fully self-driving instead.
The future is now old man
Thank you for the video, very informative. I just purchased a 2023 Nissan Rouge Platnium. Didn't quite understand this feature.
You are welcome!
I have the ‘23 and love PPA and it’s my standard along with the intelligent cruise control. I do t know if it’s a rule, but when I engage Hold button the amount of time before it disengages during long stops is extended. I’ve been pleasantly surprised for it to “follow the car ahead” ant the end of a traffic light. The system will give warning if your hands are off the wheel for about a minute and will totally stop (gradually I assume) if you don’t regain contact. I’m sometimes annoyed that it doesn’t “feel” my hand on the wheel on a long drive. I have to give it a squeeze to let it know I’m still holding on. Overall it s fantastic.
Wonderfull explained autopilot in nissan note epower. 😊
Good demonstration of the ProPilot Intelligent Cruise Control helps a lot in understanding the capabilities and limitations of these systems on the Rogue. Can see there is a little bit of a learning curve before becoming really comfortable with these systems.
Thank you for watching Mickey!
Thank this helped a lot.😊
You're welcome 😊
Very good video
Thank you 😊
Thanks👍👍👍👍👍🏴
Very informative video. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video, thanks!
You're welcome!
Hi Dietrich's Car Channel ,
Your 2023 Nissan Rogue cars look great. Could I possibly get idea if your car is SV or SV Premium? Thank you
Good I will ty it on my 2024 Nissan Rogue
Good info
Even turned on the safety shield 360, if you are not on active cruise control, it will not warn or intervene when you drive out of your lane at 40mph or higher?
You had me at "Neesahn" ! Very useful video though.
Knee-Sahn
Thanks for the video. One question though - what are the + and - toggles at the top back side for?
Paddle Shifters
Thank you for this very informative video. Got ours on Easter Monday. One question, but not related to your video. What's the material of the mud guard for the rear wheel? Should be the same as the ones in front, you think? 😊
I would think so but I'm not 100% sure on mud guard material
So we just picked up a 24 SL/p with this system.
For a 61 year old husband and wife, we see good in this. Tough to learn, but we think overall this is where we should be for everyone’s safety!
You touched on the brake lights illumination. Do they come on even during all circumstances?
Any time the system applies the brakes, or brings the car to a complete stop the brake lights will be illuminated
Hi, thanks for the video, very informative. Do you know whether it works the same way on Nissan Xtrail Epower?
As long as it is a newer modelX Trail that is equipped with Pro-Pilot Assist yes it should work the same
Love the video can u do video on the button how to lock windows I don't see it
Do you mean so that the people in the back seat can't roll the windows down?
Can you turn off the chime sound when the steering control comes on and off and just rely on the green wheel in the dash to tell you if it’s activated? Thanks so much for your great video!
I don't think its possible to turn the chime off, but if you check the owner's manual it gives instructions on how to change settings for all the safety systems, but it seems like you can only turn the steering assist on or off. Pages 2-23 through 2-25 in this document:

How does the hands-on lane-guidance system compare to Subaru EyeSight and Hyundai HDA systems? Does it stick to the center of the lane, or sway left and right?
Nissan ProPilot Assist does a good job sticking to the center of the lane in my experience, I would say it is slightly better to the Lane Centering on Subaru Eyesight
With navilink it can stop for 30 seconds and reatart again without any input.... love it in highway traffic.
Hi Dietrich! Thanks for these Propilot demos. Question: is it possible to keep the steering assist ON even when the adaptive cruise is turned off? Thanks!
Steering Assist only operates when combined with the Intelligent Cruise Control system. Thank you for watching!
@Dietrich's Car Channel got it! Thanks for the quick response-- love the details of your demos regarding lane centering/adaptive cruise--
Thank you for watching!
Was wondering how well these systems, and other cruise control systems that are adaptive perform in rainy situations? Do they work, or are they hit or miss or just turn off all together? Thanks!
I have used several adaptive cruise control systems in the rain and they do still work, but with the caveat that it is the drivers responsibility to pay even more attention to what the system is doing to make sure it’s not going to have a malfunction and hit something. You should also use the longer following distances in the rain, just as you would if you were driving normally. The systems will disable themselves if the rain gets so heavy that they can’t “see.” I do not recommend ever using these systems in ice or snow conditions.
@@CarDietrich Thanks for the quick reply! I was test driving a new Subaru Outback yesterday and it was raining pretty decently and noticed that it turn its adaptive cruise off during that, was just wondering if that was a Subaru specific thing, or a general percaution that all have programmed.
Personally I would not use the steering assist function at all if it kept beeping like that. Maybe in slow freeway traffic it wouldn't beep as much. Thank you for the video.
It's a lot better on the freeways, much more consistent and less beeping.
@@CarDietrich Here's hoping that Nissan's updated ProPilot 2.0 as found in, for example, the Ariya, will be a far more advanced system.
I thought that beeping happening when you are on cruise control but traffic conditions make your car slow down below the speed you set for yourself. Or if you exceed your set speed 🤔. I can’t decipher the pattern. Is it really do to steering going on and off? Thanks!
Can steering assist be used without activating cruise control? Good video!
Steering Assist only operates when combined with the Intelligent Cruise Control system. Thank you for watching!
Search above this post
Can you only use steering assist when pro pilot assist is on?
Yes
Can we use steering assist without the cruise control??
Yes
Does the Nissan Z have this feature?
No, but the new Nissan Z is available with what Nissan calls "Intelligent Cruise Control," which is an adaptive control system but its nots quite as slick as ProPilot Assist. I made a video about it on a Sentra:
ruclips.net/video/zc0MzmdQVZ8/видео.html
How will the system react if you change lane?
If you don’t use the turn signal the steering may fight you on it, but I’d you signal and let the system know what you’re gonna do you’ll just change lanes, no drama.
Blue light flashing in control panel
Wow a Hummer EV at the end of the video.
Yeah there are a few of them down here. Rivians are becoming almost common. Somehow those high dollar EVs don't interest me much though.
Sux that the max speed limit with the system is only 144kph.. 😢
Does it have lane centering or only lane keep assist?
Lane Assist = Lane Centering in Nissan world
@@CarDietrich My mother recently bought a 2023 Platinum. I asked her if she has used her lane centering. She said she hates it and then described what should be lane keep assist(lets the car go to the edge and then abruptly pulls it back to center). Maybe she just hasn't actually figured out the "Lane Assist"?
When the intelligent cruise control is on, how do I tell the car to change its speed to match the speed limit posted on the road? The car already recognizes the speed limit and indicates it on the display.
The way I currently do it it 1) take my eyes off the road and watch the dash display, 2) start pressing the SET- or RES+ button over and over again until the speed matches the new speed limite 3) put my eyes back on the road.
This is far from idea.
Your Nissan will only adjust to the speed limit automatically if it is equipped with ProPilot assist with Navi-Link. If you don’t have the Navi-Link you have to do it manually
It’s part of the settings. You have to go into it and then change it to “auto”
I have Nissan Rouge
Orange!!
Propilot not work without cruise control?
It kind of is cruise control
This guy has to be from CA. No one uses the word mindful that many times unless they are from CA
I see no point in trusting the system to stop. Too easy just to brake. If something goes south, you can end up rear ending in my opinion.
I don't understand how designers cannot seem to grasp that toggle switches are uncomfortable to use. With buttons - you simply press the button. It's the most intuitive action. With switches you have to move your thumb up or down against a resistant switch. Completely absurd.
So, Nissan decided to give me this instead of a cargo cover..
And proritize EV's over Hybrids..
What idiot is making these decisions?
Apparently, one that thinks using cruise control in stop and go traffic is a good idea. 😅
You’re in the minority. These features are super helpful
