I love that you’re considering PR so carefully. I feel like a lot of smaller channels feel like they have to hang onto PR bc its free and makes content. I love love content with old products bc our relationship and thoughts can change so much over the course of its lifetime. I’m not looking to buy those old products, I’m looking for inspo on how my own relationships with products can evolve
While I am so grateful for PR opportunities, I just feel it is not necessary for my channel. For some other channels it does make total sense & supplements their need to spend to create the content they want. I’m on a journey of using what I have and ensuring my collection doesn’t grow to a point where I’m overwhelmed. I’m so glad that this content can provide some inspiration for your relationship with your own collection as well! 🥰
My consumption habits have 100% switched from reviews/comparisons that make me think about buying new things, to using and enjoying what you own and panning content. I like your mindset about makeup, even though you have a channel and could easily justify buying and having more!
My goal is to really use what I have so it doesn’t feel like an obligation to focus on what I own. I’m so happy that the language resonated with you! I didn’t even notice that 🥰
With changing the content I consume, I saw a major change in my view on makeup and especially purchasing makeup. A couple years back I had so many items in my collection that I really didn’t need and scaling down every single year and thinking purchases through, made me so much happier that buying things ever did! So thank you for the type of content you’re doing 🥰
You, and other panners like you, were integral to me getting into makeup in a sustainable way. I don't own a lot of makeup. I bought one palette, than waited to see if I liked it. Than I bought another. It's been a few years since than, and I'm looking to increase my collection to lipstick and blush. But panners really helped me not try and jump in the pool all at once. To grow slowly, with purpose. So yeah. I just wanted to thank you for that.
That is so amazing, I’m so so happy that panners helped you in your makeup consumption journey in such an impactful way! Thank you for watching and for sharing your story, I really appreciated reading it 🥰
Good luck! Joining the No Buy crew, but for me it's all Cosmetics, personal care, clothes, perfume etc for the whole year. I have a few things still coming in from the after Christmas sales, so I'll still have some new stuff to play with. My goal is really to create more space, and have only the things I love, so I'm going to cycle through everything I have and decide whether to keep, pan or declutter.
I am so excited for this year of panning . I am on a total no buy this year. Cosmetics , skincare and haircare all the above . These videos are such an encouragement . Thank you Rebecca 😊
I'm on a no buy this year too! I posted my video at the beginning of the month. I can relate to the vulnerability of sharing the thought process and accountability!
All of your thoughts and goals completely make sense. Especially since you’ve been on this healthy consumerism path for at least awhile now. I’m excited to see what happens. Good luck!
Can’t wait to see your progress!! I’m on a full makeup no buy this year- I bought a bunch last year for my wedding and wedding events, but the reality is I only wear eye makeup daily. Realistically I may have to repurchase mascara or eyeliner, but yeah….one of my goals needs to be to actually USE UP a few powders. Don’t think I have ever used up 23 products though, so I’m rooting for you 🎉
I am doing my low buy this year again. I usually do "replacement only" but 2022 I had the opportunity to try out some ColorPop products (I live in Germany, those products are not easily available here) so I took it and got 3 palettes lol so exited to see your progress! Btw: I LOVE your eye look 😍 Have an amazing day!! XOXO
I like that you’re counting a used up pan as one item and giving yourself permission to use what you are drawn to. I am on a low buy this year. I’m thinking two out, one is is a good rule of thumb. I want to come up with ideal caps in certain areas and work towards reaching that total. I want variety and to have fun with makeup but to not be overwhelmed by the size of my collection.
It sounds like you have a very good approach & goal in mind! I love the idea of 2 out 1 in to help to minimize/curate your collection but still have the chance to try new products!
Looking forward to seeing how you get on with this! I’m also on a no buy this year and 2 weeks in I’m in that period of feeling the loss of being able to shop, like I know why I chose to do a no buy and it absolutely is the right thing for me, but I’ve not quite settled into it yet, so seeing you post this video today really sort of reignited my determination to get through this period and get into my no buy headspace!
Wow! Good for you! Great idea for a goal for your no buy. The way you count empties inspires me. What I've learned about myself is that often times I only like one or two pans in a pallete. For a long time that made me feel guilty but now I've accepted it and just focus on panning those and giving myself permission to ignore the others. Why not always use my favorite products in my collection?
Thank you! I totally understand what you’re saying, why use shadows and colours that you don’t enjoy? Makeup is supposed fun and so if you don’t feel drawn to something, there’s no reason to force it when you could be using what you really love!
@@RebeccaMorgan exactly! One of the Shadows I am panning is in a quad where I don't like the other three shades. But that one is such a creamy pearly white that works so well for the lid, brow bone, and inner corner highlight. I'm giddy every time I use it LOL The pallete doesn't inspire me and the packaging is cheap junk but I don't care because on my face, that one shade is stunning.
I LOVE your intentions for the years and the direction you’re going with your channel! Watching mine, and others, makeup collections decrease and tracking that from the inventory, to monthly updates, is just so much fun for me (why were all here right lol)! Also love that you not only talk about conscious consumerism, but actually carry it out!
Awe thank you so so much, I really appreciate you being here for this journey! And knowing you are working on decreasing your collection is amazing, we got this!
Fun! I'm so excited about my project pan for this year year, it's a snowball project pan (named that after Dave Ramsey's debt snowball system), where I pan the smallest product I have in each category, and when that's finished, roll in the next smallest I have, and so on! ☺️ I'm hoping to have lots of empties this year and really get my numbers down by doing this!!
I'm on a low to no buy in general. But specifically in the beauty category To date, I purchased a MAC blush, NARS Blush, Guerlain Metorites, Two NYX brow pencils, two NYX eyeliners, and the Loreal mascara I did buy the new Fenty limited edition Body Cream. That may seem like a lot for some. But for me, that's progress. Honestly, I don't even see myself buying much more. I'm over it. How much stuff can one have. I'm enjoying the things I have! It's important to check yourself. I'm over over consuming. It's not me. However, the shopping was my only "fun" during the pandemic. I've found it's not healthy for me spiritually, mentally, or financially. It's was productive but counterproductive. I'm mainly focused on accomplishing professional, financial, and personal goals. I've cut back so much in all other aspects of life as well. I buy what I need. This, it doesn't include clothes, getting my nails done, going out to eat, buying gifts (within reason), and I was seeing something in myself I didn't like. GREED. Now, back to basics! I don't regret a thing. This perspective is allowing me to grow in a way. I've gotten rid of the makeup I'm not reaching for. I've decluttered my home. I'm done
Good luck! It has been really inspiring to watch your process of becoming a more conscious consumer. We need more content like this! I feel a lot of the times people talk about conscious consumerism but still buy a lot of new makeup. This year I am doing a low buy year with such a strict budget, that I'm also forced to be on a replacements only no buy.
Good luck with your low buy this year! You will do great! I have really enjoyed seeing your journey as a more conscious consumer and focusing on using what you already own as well!
On a no buy year as well! 😁 For makeup, haircare, skincare and clothes/accessories. I'm pretty confident, I really enjoy using what I have and don't like to have too much stuff. Can't wait to see your progress 💪
I’m also doing a no buy year - I think a little more restrictive than yours. I’m documenting it in my channel too. Wish me luck!! And all the best to you. Looking forward to seeing your journey this year
I am excited for you and will be following along. I am doing a low buy and so far I am sticking to my guns without too much difficulty. Its amazing what happens when you have limits and you are choosing not to get something its like a challenge to see what you have and can use. I am doing that with samples as I want to finally finish everything I have and really look at getting my mini perfumes samples out. Fragrance became a way I spent money instead of makeup so I am reevaluating my relationship with that as well. I am sometimes too much of a completionist so usage goals have helped to balance things. And lastly you look gorgeous with the updo and eye look with the earrings so pretty!
Hello Hope all is well. Your chanel also helps me to know what to chose in many cases, so even if not for buying.... buying sometimes ( not just your chanel') I bought items because I saw then here.... and they were availeble in Portugal.... ( my case the black eyeliner.... not using it too much and the one in a beauty advent calendar I used it as a Christmas present...). IT WILL ACT LIKE A COLD OFF TIME.... when in buying it is always an excelente idea. Keep safe Best wishes 👍👍👍👍👍😘😘😘😘😘😘from Porto, Portugal
I am on a forced no buy as I lost my job at the end of 2022 so I am focusing on using what I currently have and only buying once I run out of something, for example I have two foundations at the moment I will finish them both before buying a new one 🤞🏽
I’m going to focus on a year no buy from January 2024, the only thing that I will need to bring into my collection is mascara and skincare, I have way too much makeup especially eyeshadow palettes I’d just like to get to know my collection more ❤
It’s so hard not to buy things that you see and are recommended on RUclips but I have so much stuff it’s going to go bad before I can use up. I’m going to buy only essentials that I need rather than want and have a year using us stuff or giving away.
I totally understand what you mean, it really can be so tempting!! But it sounds like you have a great mindset about wanting to use what you have, you got this!!
Ah yes I see similarities! However, my no buy will be over after 23 products/5 pans. I’m really just using this as a way to take a pause on purchasing but don’t know what things will look like after this! Will spend the next few months figuring that out 😊

My consumption has shifted that way completely as well, so we are on that journey together 🥰
I really like how you say „this allows me to put more focus in the things I already own“ rather than saying „this forces me to“
My goal is to really use what I have so it doesn’t feel like an obligation to focus on what I own. I’m so happy that the language resonated with you! I didn’t even notice that 🥰

It’s “taking the country by storm “ (as all the marketing ads I get tell me) 😂

I know what you mean! I need guidelines to actually maintain a no buy too!
So excited about the No Buy for you! It's so satisfying to see people using up products. 🙂
