    Would love to hear how your year went and if you are planing to do a No Buy, Low Buy or No Spend year or month in 2023 ? Thank you so much for being here on my journey!! ❤ and sorry there wasn’t more updates! I am planing for more consistency in 2023 :)

    It's so cool that you have all those numbers to quantitatively compare and see progress. Numbers are powerful. I've started to keep track on how often I use my stuffs (specifically clothes) and calculate the cost per use of each items. And so far seeing those numbers does make a huuuuge difference and spikes my motivation to keep utilizing the stuffs that I already own in order to reduce the cost per use.

    • @NeliaRose
      @NeliaRose  Год назад

      It honestly for me keeps me motivated and on track. I think it can be tricky with numbers sometime and get into comparison games but I try to only compare my progress and numbers to my own past data. That is so awesome you are doing a clothing use tracker and working out cost per use must be super motivating to be thoughtful with what you buy in the future. I am wanted to do that this year but with my craft supplies and also some habits I want to work with tracking how much I paint of draw in a month for example. That is so motivating to hear! Thank you so much for sharing and I hope you are having a great start to 2023 :)

    This is my second year of the low buy challenge. You inspired me last January to start. I think I did pretty well, but want to do even better this year, but at the same time stress less about it 🤪. It's an ongoing challenge, but enjoying it and paid off my credit card debt last year in doing so 👍. Sending love x

      Congratulations on taking on a no buy/low buy. It is all part of the process and how you get better at not impulse buying is to work with the times you do as chance to lear and understand why it happened. For me other the past 3 years of doing this challenge I have had plenty of mistakes but I keep going because for me being really good at something takes a lot of practice. Hey Nelia,
    here's just a little information just for you, I don't want to expose you with that maybe you already know. In Germany we make the euro sign at the end of the numbers and not before that like the dollar sign. In addition, there is a point after the number of a thousand and a comma after the hundreds, so exactly the other way around.
    Here is an example:
    Your spelling: $1,354.22
    our spelling: 1.354,22€
    Otherwise a very nice informative video. I wish you the greatest time in Europe and hope you are doing well.
    Greetings from Germany❤️

    I don't do low buys because for me restriction where not financially needed can become a sticky situation where I just end up beating myself up a lot. And it doesn't really benefit me but I do like to budget. so I can work towards my financial goals.
    In late 2022 I really rocked a budget that works for me. Most of that progress is because I finally make a living wage. When I was working paycheck to paycheck, when I would overspend I would shame myself and feel so bad and now looking back on that "overspending" I realize the problem wasn't me it was my low wage. Cause you can only cut back and self-monitor so much.

    • @NeliaRose
      @NeliaRose  Год назад +1

      That is great you have found what works for you and it is so important to found a method that is best suited for your mindset. If you don't mind me asking what kind of budgeting method do you use? I am always trying to find one that really works for me. Awesome that you are making a liveable wage. It really makes all the difference because at the end of the day no matter how much you cut back if your not making enough to get by then it is just impossible to make progress with saving anything. It is hard when we beat ourselves up or get into shame cycles but I am glad to hear you are in a better place financially and with your headspace. Thank you so much for sharing and I really hope 2023 can be a great year for you with your financial and personal goals :)

      @@NeliaRose I use the budget by paycheck method by The Budget Mom. She has a series called the Real Life Budget where she does people's budgets for them and that's how I learned to use her method. She teaches a zero-based budget, allocating every dollar to have a job and that's what really clicked for me.
      And then Kennedy Amber has youtube videos of her budget and sells her budget spreadsheet for $5 US which is what I use. The budget mom has spreads on her website for printing but I like to do mine digitally.
      This method is really hands on, but I do like to track everything, it makes me feel like I know what's going on.

    • @NeliaRose
      @NeliaRose  Год назад

      I am very fortunate to have the savings I have. If you have seen my 2020 no buy year results that is when I was really able to save money because I had a good job but the last two years I was volunteering so didn’t save. There has also been some behind the scenes financial stuff helping out family that I don’t disclose because it is personal. This coming year I will probably not be able to save because I can’t work until May due to being new to Swaziland. If do find work (not knowing the language being a barrier) there is restrictions on hours and if I make something it would only be enough to maybe cover some of my costs of living. Being here is very much possible because of what I saved in the past and I will do my best to try and make my savings last as long as I can while living here. I really want to invest in my education and future so draining my savings is a price I am going to pay. I hope that is helpful I don’t feel comfortable just saying plain numbers because then the context is missed. Hope you are having a good start to 2023 :)
