I listened to the podcast you did recently, i knew you had done gymnastics to a high level so was suprised that was missed on this haha
I've always planned on getting my kids (when I have them) into gymnastics from a young age. It seems to give you an incredible base to transition into the vast majority of sports.
I was at college with fraer, she was jacked then and she's super jacked now.

It’s great to see our women making an impact now at international level and obviously Sarah deserves a lot of credit for her role representing athletes in the IWF despite how the board have treated her.

British Weight Lifting (BWL) has implemented a sanction, determined by an independent Arbitrator, against Sarah Davies after she admitted she had made comments of a discriminatory nature against a fellow athlete. Ms. Davies admitted that she contravened articles 3c, 3d, 3e of the BWL athlete agreement and the BWL athlete code of conduct. The finding was independently adjudicated by an independent arbitrator appointed by Sport Resolutions, who also determined the sanction.

Why do you think it is that between the US and UK, it is the women right now that are by and large competitive on the world stage but the men largely are not?
According to a leading expert the answer is the men are too busy watching football and drinking beer.

That’s an easy question to answer with a mix of answers:
-no one really cares about weightlifting in the UK,so there’s no money/support in it like there is with football or athletics
-British talent in almost all classes is nowhere near competitive (example being the 109s,the best 109 is barely snatching 160 and that is a warm up in the Olympic training hall)because they’re not taking anything/nowhere near as much as other countries’ athletes
-if you’re in the UK the focus is on football/rugby/tennis/cricket/athletics; so you might have potential for the sport but you’ll never pay it attention because it wasn’t exposed to you,but nowadays weightlifting has become a bit of a “sexy” sport because of certain athletes and their aesthetics so more people will pay attention to it

@@rfjohns4452 I know, it's just some people have truly low expectations of what is achievable by people who were born to the right parents and have trained consistently for years.
Different sport but my gym has had a few kids come through who've competed at sub-junior level in the IPF affiliate here (powerlifting) and... some people were just born with the potential to move more weight than most.
@@PaulSteere yeah and those people compete against other gifted people Who take juice, so they either take it or have zero chances. It's like expecting to win a F1 face with a Honda Civic just because you are a gifted pilot.

I haven't looked any of them up, but if any of them is actually top 10 at worlds, I am 100% betting that it would be the 71. 71 is the free class where the Asian/Russian lifters don't compete in lol. If an American can win 71, it's basically free.

Davis was a distant silver at 2021 worlds but yeah she wasn’t competing against the Chinese.
Don't know how Sarah Davies can put up with her hair, especially on the C&J. I'd be so annoyed with my hair slapping me in the face with each and every lift.
What sadness do I get people who wear a rag on their faces because it is ordered by another human. Then the girls very well, only the others hurt me their lives.

There's just something about female weightlifters, like gymnasts, and even powerlifters, that is lovely to watch, where all other women's sports are extremely boring to watch
