  • This weekend the 319th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion said farewell to its commander, Lt. Col. Beatriz Florez.
Lt. Col. Florez, a native of the Rio Grande Valley, has traveled to Harlingen, Tx, from the Pacific Northwest for the last two years for the opportunity to command near home.
In her remarks, she encouraged the soldiers of the 319th CSSB to taking pride in themselves and to hold themselves to a high standard.
“The opportunities in the Army Reserve are great. There are so many possibilities and things that you can accomplish, but it needs to start with you. One of the main reasons I chose to command this battalion is because I think representation is important. I was born in raised in the Rio Grande Valley. Like many of you, I was a child of immigrants. The Army Reserve opened up so many doors and possibilities for me and helped shape the life I have today, and it began with me taking pride in myself and choosing to challenge myself consistently,” says Florez.
Lt. Col. Michael Acevedo-Pizarro assumed command of the 319th CSSB and will lead the command as it continues its mission.
