Short answer: reservists get craps unless they’re on orders for duty, unless they’re officers. Other than those two options, people join reserve for college and citizenship.
Quick question I can’t find the answer for it anywhere, is that citizenship for parents as well?

@@NgJackal1990 yea but I’m specifically talking about the parents being here illegally and the child going to be a reservist, would that grant the parents citizenship or do you have to be in it full time?
@@godzsniperr6195 naturalization is only applied to you if you're in the military, assuming you're here legally. Now if your parents were illegally here, without ssn, id, etc. Your status doesn't apply to your parents, even if you're in the military or you're already a naturalized citizen. But if you're a naturalized citizen, you can sponsor your parents to be here legally. I'm not a lawyer so don't take my words for it. You can ask an immigration lawyer for detail how this works.
My recruiter was just telling me this today! While I'm in BCT, OCS, BOLC/AIT and Airborne school (hopefully) as long as I show proof of rent/mortgage, ill get BAH in addition to monthly pay!
@Remix God lol no they are not. while on active duty no matter your rank, if you pay rent or mortgage they give you BAH, if you have dependents tho you get it automatically.
@All about the drama just need to be on active duty orders and paying rent or mortgage.

I just finished my process with my ASVAB, MEPS, signed contract and sworn in today. I managed to qualify for OCS as well. I won't be able to ship to Basic Training to Fort Jackson until January in 2021.
Studying for asvab right now. Hoping to ship out some time in January when my lease and car payments are up.
@@runorthwest depends what branch you're going and what MOS you're going for. I signed my contract on August 17th this year and I won't see basic training until January 19th

my brother on reserve and sometimes he does go overseas for 6 months. Kind of ironic my dad was active and was never gone for 6 months.

My IN NG recruiter says you can apply for BAH just in general and receive it, not noting anything about having to be on “Active Duty”.

No, you just need to fill out a DA Form 5960 and get it to your unit S1, they should be able to help you.
I’m going in as Active, is it possible to change to reserves after two years in?
Instead of being inactive reserves you can switch to finish the rest of your contract on active reserves
Yes if your contract is only two years but if not, than you have to wait until your contract is over

Thanks for all the content. Just got a 99 on Picat (asvab). The advice on taking practice tests was really great, particularly for the math sections. Hoping to get into ocs for the reserves.

@@asapant6502 I'm just an idiot savant. I studied up on the math and language sections to prepare, but the others I just happenned to know from life experiences. I worked maintenance at an apartment complex, which gave me the electrical and shop knowledge questions, and the auto questions came from running worn-out vehicles to death and having to pay for it. It's pretty amazing how much information is running past us in our lives. If you just take a minute to pay attention and be curious, you can learn an awful lot. I wish I had done that more, but what I did was enough for the asvab.

@Mehraz Maksud not much from reserves i think with ta its like 3 grand per semester but you also have a gi bill kicker which isnt that much either, but if you fail a class with ta you have to pay it back

BAH is based on the location on where you live and paying rent/mortgage.

Great info. Thanks!. My girlfriend's son in in reserves and will be deployed in a few months. He thinks he will get housing assistance when he leaves. He pays no expenses and freeloads off us. All his money goes for shoes and video games. I was kind of thinking he'd have to show proof of expenses to get BAH. Am I right?
He'll need to show proof of lease and submit a DA5960 form.

Hey so idk if you’ve covered this but I gotta ask. So yesterday I was at meps and passed everything except the hearing portion because my left ear has very slight hearing loss. The commander at my recruiting station said he would try to get me a waiver because my score for the hearing was in the range that they’d accept you, I was just wondering how long could this process take to get a waiver and if I have a chance?

That's gonna depend on the base you go to but if you live in the barracks I'm sure you aren't going to get Fiber internet. haha You can definitely play but I wouldn't count on it being better than 200 Mbps down

Can you please explain to me how the traveling expenses are covered. I’m very nervous I live in Florida and my unit is in Houston Texas. So i will have to catch a flight and I guess Uber to and from my unit.

You don’t have to show proof of lease/housing in the reserve to receive BAH if you’re on orders for more than 30 days. Only exception is BOLC for officers.
If you’re on orders for 29 days or less, you don’t “get half of the BAH.” It’s a pro rated amount that goes by your rank and has nothing to do with your home of record zip code. Also, you don’t have to be on orders for “at least 2 weeks” to get BAH type II. Any ADT or AT order amount will get you that
regardless the answer is no, sadly even on AT orders as a private the money you make for the two weeks is bout the average what you will make on active duty bah, the money is disparaging

Good evening, so if anything happens to you or when u r away, who is going to watch ur kid and wife 's backs? For example, your wife is going to get a dental surgery and needs someone there while she is sedated, and some dentists wont perform surgery unless there is someone there. Friends and relatives are good but they arent always available. Chances are things will go bad and you cant be there. Do you have to live near your parents and relatives? How to deal with them? How to prepare for them? Thank you

What is MEP?
I wanna join the army so bad ever since I was a kid I wanted to join the infantry and serve my country. But I been in a car crash and I’m hearing all these crazy ass things and they telling me I can’t join. And some other guys are telling me I can because it’s not a criminal charge idk what to do. Yeah, i think most BOLCs are no less than 2 three months, and it is considered Active Duty status while in BOLC training.

If you're in the reserve and National guard its base on your residence zip code. Over the course of 3 years I know the army has been cracking down on active members that's has been cheating the system. So more than likely it will be around the duty station.

If I were to join the army it would be active duty I'm not going to be like my fellow millennials that get involve in army reserve/ national guard. Just for the benefits and recognition not because they genuinely want to serve their country. Don't join the military if you aren't willing to serve this country for nothing in return and willing to put your life on the line. Some of you act like you should looked at in the same way as active duty which ridiculous
