Your work is absolutely exquisite. Thank you for all the good ideas. I just love to see you create. If I may add a tip - add a piece cotton wool at the bottom of the container of the OMS. This prevent vapour and prevent leakage when transporting. It also helps to clean the brush from pigment. I use different spots of the cotton wool for different colours - thereby not contaminating the brush. Give it a try - you may also find it a plus when creating an artwork. Thankyou 😊 She's actually one of the reasons I started RUclips! I've always loved how open and "straight to the point" she is... She gives a lot of information away for free without heaps of chatty nonsense in the middle of it! I also want to be able to share my techniques in that kind of way so I'm glad you've compared me to her haha 😊
@@KirstyRebeccaFineArt you're most welcome! I'm an artist too and I watch a lot of really amazing artists on RUclips!..and Kirsty is one of them for sure!!💜 Take care!
Beautiful art piece! I didn't know there was so much to know about using colored pencils! I've never tried the layering effect. I'll have to remember that for future pencil pieces! Thank you!
When mixing black can you just add dark colours such as indigo, dark violet to the black, or mix all of the colours together. Also when doing backgrounds, can you grate the coloured pencil and use a soft tool blending sponge to blend the colours.
Yes, I always add other colours in with black - it makes it richer 😊 I probably wouldn't grate the pencils, I don't think the powder you could create would be fine enough to not leave scratches/gritty texture etc But you could try it and see what happens
Great info for the beginner! I enjoyed this as a refresher and to check my techniques. I have not tried pastelmat yet... For awhile I am going to stick with the paper I already bought.
Hi I was wondering do u use pastel pencils for drawing animals or do u just use coloured pencils because I have both and have used both a lot but still haven't figured out which works better for my animal drawings
I have both, and use both (if you look at my other videos, I have tutorials for both as well!) I choose coloured pencil when I want a bit more detail, and I choose pastel when I want to lay lights over darks (or if I want to finish the artwork quicker!) That's not always the case, but in general, that's how I decide what medium to use 😊
Thank the GODS that you said "Tips & Techniques.." and not the constantly used "Hacks"! :) I absolutely despise the use of "hacks" for tips and techniques! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!!! :D
Haha don't look at my latest videos then 🤫😅 I honestly don't like the word "hack" either, but I've used it and I understand why others do it, because it definitely works!
@@KirstyRebeccaFineArt LOL! Yeah, I've seen it used here before (by you), but it was a very nice change to see a more accurate description for a title. :) So keep it up!
@@plumfun6750 haha I've only used it once, but the "tips & techniques" is also a good alternative that people seem to click on (and is more accurate to what I'm actually talking about so I will probably do more of those! haha)

Pastelmat is amazing, you won't regret investing in it! But definitely use what you have first! 😊
Interesting really good info!😁👍

What is the solvant ?
Odorless mineral spirits or odorless solvent (most art shops will carry them because oil painters use it) 😊
Thank you !
