You can do a routine everyday with the kids to get them into the habit of personal cleanliness where you give them one slice of paper towel and you go around and spray a disinfectant on their desk before class starts and then again at the end of the day
another idea i have heard is putting a stamp on each hand at the beginning of the day, and if they wash their hands well a good amount of time, the stamp will be gone by the end of the day

My school offer many courses on teaching, ones called ready set teach, child development, and principals of education, they are really fun and offer very hands on experiences and we even go to competitions for it, i was blessed to have such a good program!

Bring the paper towels to the special education, speech, PT, and OT teachers. They needs those supplies too, but when students bring supplies they give them to the classroom teacher. They will use those paper towels! I moved into a classroom that had about 40 tissue boxes. I gave over half of them to the speech teacher and she split them with the special education teacher. They need those materials too, but they don't get the donations like the classroom teachers do. You can also put them in the staff lounge for other teachers to use. The music and PE teachers might grab some, too.
You need to go to the dollar tree to get some plastic bins. I know they’re going to be colorful but if they don’t fit your aesthetics then spray paint them like a matte black or white . Go crazy over there and maybe you can stock up on school/cleaning supplies while you are there like hand sanitizer, wipes , bulletins pins, white boards, paper clips , labels etc . They do have classroom things. Also if you need items in bulk just order online and get it shipped to the school or your house! ❤️❤️❤️ Pinterest some ideas for classroom organization or a modern classroom

For the paper towels, I would see if any of the other teachers want them. Particularly teachers that don't have a homeroom bringing supplies. They may be buying their own, and that would be great for them. You could also drop them off at your local elementary school. They would LOVE them too! I also saw you have ziplocks. I put all my ziplocks in a plastic shoe box to save space. I can fit like 7-8 boxes of ziplocks in a a shoe box, then I label the shoe box with the size and it's SOOOO much easier to grab a bag when I or a student needs it.
You will do all kinds of things with those paper towels, dry hands, wipe desks, clean your white boards, serve pizza, dry paint brushes. You will have a lot of little bodies who will need to wipe a lot of things. Keep the paper towels and any other paper product you find.
Same I have to do that but know my state in Alaska I’d doing online for the beginning of the school year and slowly transitioning back to normal I hate it. And if u didn’t know Anchorage, Alaska for middle school is 7-8 so it’s gonna be my first year of middle school

Okay I am a custodian and I will let you know from my pov for a classroom. Please leave enough room between furniture to sweep or vacuum. Please put pencil sharpeners close to a trash can. I honestly know what your going through we have 4 new teachers this year and it can be over whelming. If you are tossing things I would see if any other teacher would like to have it. I will never forget my first day, student shared a picture of his son. He was 19 with a kid of his own. Crazy how time has flown... 20 years later and still loving it.

A teacher friend showed me how to make white boards into clipboards by just adding a binder clip to the top. You can get a pack of 10 from the Dollar Tree...hope this helps! The room is coming together! Looks great :-)
Year 26 teacher here...cloth bins are cute but will be almost impossible to keep clean, especially white ones. Also, with regulations for cleanliness this year, you may want to minimize any fabrics, rugs and cloth. You’re going to need those paper towels for excessive cleaning this year. File cabinets are great behind your desk. I would move the black shelf elsewhere perhaps near the windows. Some plants to help air out the room would be great around the windows. Multiple locations for germ x would be good so students don’t go all over the room. I loooove the posters and all the supplies u got! So lucky! Might seem overwhelming but actually really blessed!
The Posters get overwhelming. See if you can leave things you don't want on the copy room table or staff lounge table and then ask the secretary to send out an email letting people know there's a lot up for grabs. With the bins, I would start a list of what you need to buy and the sizes of bins you need. Please don't do what I did and buy all of the bins and then try to figure out what you want to use them for. FYI-I don't recommend the clear shoeboxes from Dollar Tree. They are not durable and crack easily and don't click to close. With the cubbies, I highly recommend using classroom numbers. I numbered each cubby so I could use the labels multiple years. The kids should be used to having student numbers. The numbers would correspond to their Alphabetical order. When I got new students throughout the year I would give them any extra cubbies and then just reassign student numbers with students who left if I ran out of cubbies.

I just started moving into my classroom and I also had about a million paper towel rolls left from the previous teacher. I just placed them in a big plastic tub and put it above my cabinet

You just need to get some big cardboard boxes, cover them in contact paper, and put your paper towels in them and put them on the top of the long bookcase. Keep a few rolls down in a cabinet or somewhere convenient but as the year goes on you will be so grateful you have so many paper towels and tissues
It would be a good idea to put the rolling cart next to the book shelf. And then put the black shelf next to the hutch to put the games and calander items from under the marker area, so it can be more organized. Or possibly organize your stuff for your bulletin board on it, just a few ideas
You could make diy disinfectant wipes with the paper towels. Keep the Clorox/Lysol wipes containers when they are empty and then put the paper towels in them and then pour a bleach & water solution on it or whatever cleaning product you want.
If u lack floor space hang laundry sm bag/tack/pin t to wall/corner or above where pp towels are, fill it w pp towels Kleenex left over and use those first b4 u tap what's in cabinet. Def move the black rack. Beautify it w cloth bins $ and fill w stuff u don't often use or use it for the pp towels, Clorox wipes surplus and leave one can out. Buy rugged bins w handles for outdoor time
You should get really big and cute bins/baskets to hold the paper towels/Kleenex/wipes and then stick them back above the book shelf. That way they are out of the way and put of sight until you need them.

Pro Tips: Expo marker removes permanent marker markings! "DO Nows"/"Bell Ringers" are a must! (Gives you time to catch your breath and take attendance while kiddos are working). Middle schoolers are energetic, but fragile as they are also experiencing hormonal imbalances. Most you will notice are passionate and can get into poetry to write about the concept of betrayal. Many will get their heartbroken 💔 for the first time! Some will be crushing on the cute boy/girl or both. Be prepared for the social-emotional needs of your students. It can be draining, but it's also rewarding when they come to you to share their successes or the latest news. Also, middle schoolers will still work for a Teacher’s rubber stamp! Happy faces work too! Enjoy!

Hey! You should store any dry erase or color markers with the tips pointing down. Gravity will do it's thing and the ink will fall towards the tip and not dry out. It will save you money so that you don't have to replace as often!
If it’ll fit, you could put both bookshelves side by side (near the door) and put the rolling cart by the cabinet under that whiteboard!!!! And use the black shelf thing for students!! Add extra lined paper, a bin w pencils and pens, etc!!!

Hold onto those paper towels. You’ll use them. Keep one or 2 in your desk for yourself and the rest in storage but have one out at a time. Keep the rollers for arts and crafts. Trust me, you’ll use them.

You could make diy disinfectant wipes with the paper towels. Keep the Clorox/Lysol wipes containers when they are empty
and then put the paper towels in them and then pour a bleach & water solution on it or whatever cleaning product you want.
If u lack floor space hang laundry sm bag/tack/pin t to wall/corner or above where pp towels are, fill it w pp towels Kleenex left over and use those first b4 u tap what's in cabinet. Def move the black rack. Beautify it w cloth bins $ and fill w stuff u don't often use or use it for the pp towels, Clorox wipes surplus and leave one can out. Buy rugged bins w handles for outdoor time
You should get really big and cute bins/baskets to hold the paper towels/Kleenex/wipes and then stick them back above the book shelf. That way they are out of the way and put of sight until you need them.
What about some mini curtains to hide the shelves where you store your paper towels? All you would need would be a tension rod and some fabric.

Pro Tips: Expo marker removes permanent marker markings! "DO Nows"/"Bell Ringers" are a must! (Gives you time to catch your breath and take attendance while kiddos are working). Middle schoolers are energetic, but fragile as they are also experiencing hormonal imbalances. Most you will notice are passionate and can get into poetry to write about the concept of betrayal. Many will get their heartbroken 💔 for the first time! Some will be crushing on the cute boy/girl or both. Be prepared for the social-emotional needs of your students. It can be draining, but it's also rewarding when they come to you to share their successes or the latest news. Also, middle schoolers will still work for a Teacher’s rubber stamp! Hey! You should store any dry erase or color markers with the tips pointing down. Gravity will do it's thing and the ink will fall towards the tip and not dry out. It will save you money so that you don't have to replace as often!
If it’ll fit, you could put both bookshelves side by side (near the door) and put the rolling cart by the cabinet under that whiteboard!!!! And use the black shelf thing for students!! Add extra lined paper, a bin w pencils and pens, etc!!!

Hold onto those paper towels. You’ll use them. Keep one or 2 in your desk for yourself and the rest in storage but have one out at a time. Keep the rollers for arts and crafts. Trust me, you’ll use them.
