- Happy summer, friends! I know many of us are at different places in the "back to school" season - some gearing up to go back in the next week or two and others (like myself) with over a month left. Wherever you fall on that spectrum, I hope this video might help you to purpose some of those dollar spot purchases and perhaps show how my own purchasing patterns have shifted for my classroom going into year 2. Also... SURPRISE! Love y'all, mean it!

I love that planning a wedding is your "passion project." HAHA you are my most favorite. Also I appreciate you saying that if you want to go to Target every day, do your thang & if you never want to buy things for your classroom, do your thang. That is so totally my mindset too!

Congrats! A teaching tip from a veteran when it comes to anchor charts - love the idea of using the die cut letters for the headers, but instead of throwing it out when done, try this hack. Create a blank chart using your die cut letters, laminate, and then fill out with your students. Depending on the type of marker you use, you can then clean off the laminated poster with rubbing alcohol and reuse it year after year. Good luck!

My friend showed me that Mr.Clean Magic Erasers working permanent marker if you laminate the blank anchor charts and then write on them.
The scratch off stickers could be used with your behavior management system. They could make your rewards a “surprise.” Have the student of the week, day , etc. pull it out of the pocket and scratch it off to reveal what reward the class has earned or will be working toward.
First of all congrats on your engagement!! Kudos to you for incorporating Spanish to your classroom, as a Spanish teacher, I love that! I believe it is so important for students to keep their language and for non native speakers to learn since early Ed. Thanks for the awesome tips!

Congratulations on your engagement. Your ring is beautiful. I remember when I got engaged 29 years ago I couldn't stop look at my ring. That day still stands out in my memory like it was yesterday. It's such a fun and exciting time of life so I hope you enjoy the next year. Well I hope you both do. 😁 Love the target dollar spot. I'm an infant teacher and loved the colorful borders and name tags (cubby tags for me). I haven't gone yet this year but I'm hoping that they have the tassels you have hanging in your windows. I thought of a use for them in my room.
I love all these things. I wish we had more of these in the Netherlands. A plus in our schools is that the school provides everything and you may only want to get a few extra things yourself either for teaching or decorating.

I love your calendar idea...maybe instead of having two, you could just make a point of saying each day of the week, month etc. in Spanish as well... as a class (during morning meeting) I think students would ADORE sharing what they know with their peers! 3. In my classroom, we had an English and a Spanish calendar. I noticed that students that weren't as confident in their English felt safer referring to the Spanish calendar, and throughout the year they started referencing the English one more. It's nice for them to have the option in a really non-aggressive way!

On a different note for the scratch off stickers, I’ve seen a lot of bridesmaids/flower girl proposal cards with them. With it saying “will you be my bridesmaid?” under the scratch off. Congrats on your engagement! I got engaged in March and planning a wedding has been not the easiest in quarantine but I will say that’s it’s also my passion project too lol. I’m making a trip to Target tomorrow and I can’t wait to check all this out! 💕

Congratulations on Engagement.
I am a SPED Teacher and use wooden close pins for word building. I bought cute alphabet stickers and modge podged them to the clothes pins! SOO much cheaper and last longer than the wooden letters. I made number ones too for math! Just a hack to have a tone. I also use mini paint stir sticks for them to build the words on. I hold the pins in drawstring cloth bags I sewed and the sticks in colorful little buckets in a bin. They use their spelling list or book word lists for the words to needed to build. Just a hack that has greatly helped with fine motor and word building skills.

Congratulations 😊 I am from England and have been teaching for 23 years (gulp!) I still love my job so much! You are very lucky to have so many reasonably priced teaching resources available in your local shops in the US. We do not have the same availability here - probably a good thing for my bank balance 😊
You can laminate student name tags. Then use book tape to put the name tags on the desk. Last the entire school year and can be easily removed when you need to change the seating chart. BTW, I teach students with Special needs and this works.

Loved those blotters, I wish I could get those here in Europe :( An Idea for the scratchers, I use those for escape rooms. They can scratch for a clue for example. Or you can use them to create teams for a big project (to create anticipation). The same symbol/colour underneath the scratchers have to work together. Many many fun ways to use them!

The scratch off stickers could be very useful for upper grades, those learning fractions... they could do the fraction for calculating their grades and then scratch off to see their grades...
I decided to stay away from the target teacher stuff but this haul is making me change that decision.
Also you can make scratch off save the dates for your wedding 😊

The scratch off stickers can be useful!! You can use them as a personalized behavior management system. For example, if one student needs their own incentive you can pick a surprise reward, write it down and cover it with the sticker. If the student meets their behavior goal for the day, have them scratch off to reveal the reward! You could also use it for whole group reward for secret student as well!
I use scratch offs to make groups! It’s really fun on days where you are doing a classroom transformations or something where it doesn’t really matter which group kids are in.

My knuckles are big so I have to force my rings down my finger, but once they get past my knuckles, my rings swing around because they’re too big around that part of my finger. Ring Snuggies are these little plastic things you slip on the backs of your ring(s) and they keep your ring nice and snug around your finger. I have used them for years and they don’t scratch my rings. I suggest those to everyone! Haha! Yes, I remember your very first haul video. No need to be embarrassed. My first video is embarrassing for me to watch too so I understand. Lol! I love those name tags. They’re very helpful for kids. Fun haul! 😄👍🏾
They simplified the blotter concept this year with three dollar packs of inserts. They don’t have all the charts but a bunch of them. I got two sets but am still looking for the math ones. I think I like blotters better. They are bigger and are contained in one pack.
I have done the gambit of how to keep the name tags on the desk. The adhesive pockets are a good choice but students started peeling them off the desk. Sigh! So instead of sticking the pocket to the desk, I now use velcro . For your scratch off stickers, you could use them for prizes. Put a class reward under them.

I laminate the name tags and use small discs of velcro for the name tags so they can be moved easily. Another teacher showed me this tip! Love those pockets - I haven't seen them at my Target. I'd love them for my whiteboard for vocab. words!

For your calendar, since you said that pocket chart has an extra row, you could have the days of the week in English on one row and then the Spanish on the row underneath. I don’t know if the month would fit side by side or not. Don’t have a solution on that. 😉

@@puttingthemfirst I used to do the pockets (and before those were a thing, the contact paper on the desks) and the velcro is SO much easier. I do have to switch out some of the dots with my more rambunctious kiddos, but still wouldn't go back, LOL.
Also, is there anyway you could do a video on how to use Educreations? I'm thinking I may need to use something of that sort for the start of the year, as my district is leaning towards virtual learning.

When it comes to name tags I laminate my name tags, write the name on it in a Sharpe market, and use clear photo corners to attach it to the desk. Then I can move kids no problem.
