    Awesome video! Did you get a message from Sigma regarding an update for the near AF problem?

  • @JsGarage

    This one is a little more difficult for me as there is a price difference worth noticing but is it enough? When I bought my sigma 24-70 2.8 it was basically half the price of Sony.

    Awesome, as always. I'd like to know a bit more about the bokeh, its just a tiny bit in the review, cause that is why i'd buy a lense like this. Not really the focusing speed or frames per second.

    I want to get in the Sony ecosystem full frame (Sony A7R4) but what about what I understand full full fame sony you need to have the FE mouth.
    The Sigma 50mm f/1.2 dg dn art E mount covers the whole full frame? Because from what I understand the e-mount is only for crop sensor.

    • @LoremIpsumProd
      @LoremIpsumProd 2 месяца назад

      E mount are the same for full frame or cropped sensor. Safe to say FE = full frame lenses, E = cropped. A7iv is full frame, just use the FE lenses.

      Not sure did you already made the buying decision or not, but this Sigma 50/1.2 DG DN was designed for the full frame camera image circle, actually, except 16/1.4, 30/1.4, 56/1.4, 18-50/2.8 were designed for the crop sensor, all the modern sigma lenses were designed for full frame camera if I remember it right.

    I wanted a GM 1.2 but went the GM 1.4 route for the smaller size and weight. But this sigma is really great. However, let's face it, the photographer will influence the result the most.

    Magic, for an amateur portrait photographer, which lens do you think pairs well with a 50mm? There's also the option of selling the 50mm and getting something else. I know 35/85 is a popular combo. There's something about the 50mm that I like, though...Idk. Sometimes I think 24-70 is a good compromise. Yes, you don't get that sweet bokeh, but in one lens you can go from quite wide to slightly telephoto.

    • @I922sParkCir
      @I922sParkCir 2 месяца назад

      You didn't ask me, but how about the 70-180 from Tamron? 85's are great, but +100mm at F2.8 is absolutely fantastic as well. I pair my 50mm F1.4 with the Tamron 35-150mm F2-2.8.

    • @photobatya

      Believe me: tamron 28-75 g2, and you probably will not need something else for a long time

    • @Daniel_Ilyich
      @Daniel_Ilyich 2 месяца назад +1

      @@I922sParkCir I'm sure that the 35-150 is spectacular, but from personal experience, I know that if a lens is heavy, I'm less likely to use it. 2.6 lbs or 1.1 kilos is a bit much for walking around. While I do love portraits above all else, I do also do a lot of walkaround/travel stuff and that's a bit too heavy.

    • @Daniel_Ilyich
      @Daniel_Ilyich 2 месяца назад

      @@photobatya Yeah, I've seen some images from it and it's an incredible value for the price. The bokeh is even a little better than the Sony 24-70 GM II. I wish I could see some portrait shots with the Tammy at 75mm at 2.8. I lust after the Sony 24-70 but $2400 is a bit too much for a middle class dude who isn't a professional photographer.

    • @Daniel_Ilyich
      @Daniel_Ilyich 2 месяца назад

      @@photobatya It's also amazing that it's only $900. I'm guessing making a 28-75 requires less engineering than a 24-70.

    I really like the images from this lens. I think I like the results of the Sigma more than the Sony for portraits. The colours look more pleasing for skin tones. I really want to order the Sigma 50mm f1.2 but the Sony 50mm f1.4 is so much more lighter

      and Sony already knew years ahead that Sony consumers have been waiting for a 1.2..for years..and yet they still give us a 1.4 II first..and that move by Sony opened the door for others to make/release a 1.2 first....hence Sigma and Viltrox!..

If you wait for Black Friday (was about to write "Black Magic" lol) you could get Sony rebates as well as store discounts.
