The worst thing about The Girl Next Door is definitely that all that stuff happened to a real girl, Sylvia Likens... I hope she's resting in peace, she truly deserves it after everything she went through.
No, the worst thing about this case was that the perpetrators, the Baniszewski family, never showed remorse. The mother, Gertrude Baniszewski, received a relatively light sentence and feigned innocence pretending to not remember what she's done due to her being "under the influence of her medication". All lived/are living normal lives afterwards and that was truly the sickening part to me. It is one of the most upsetting extensively documented crimes to ever be committed and I hope Sylvia and her sister rests in peace
It kinda leaves a bad taste in my mouth. Seems disrespectful to write a book heavily based on the suffering and misery a real life human being went through
This iceberg actually got way darker than I expected. But seriously, going into detail, especially with these books, can help me figure out if I can deal with the content in them. If I went in blindly, I would probably have lost it. Thanks, dude!
I feel like the problem is with books, is they all just become the book from that south park episode eventually. Where butters tries to create that super disturbing book by just putting a bunch of gross stuff in a book.
I just realized you don't have millions of subs and views and I am SHOCKED. This video is very well edited and we can tell how much effort you put into it. 10/10, keep up the good work!
Not going to lie I fell IN LOVE with the book: "Insane Bastards"(I love the scat scenes a little less). It was so quick to read and the action was through the roof. You can't ever get bored of that book.
I really appreciate your channel. I get curious about these things but I'm not a fan of scary music or scary visuals that other people tend to overdo. You also cover things I haven't seen others cover and you do it well, informative and straight to the point, no exaggeration or filler or overkill vibe. No clickbait, got more than I was thinking from the title. You're also really really cute and you have such a nice voice 🥺 It's like I'm experiencing this with a family member or club member.
that's how i feel about a lot of chuck palanuiks work tbf; the short story of the guy who gets his organs ripped out of his anus and dies in the swimming pool comes to mind
@@pimposki6232 I’m pretty sure that’s kind of the point though. Been a while since I read haunted but the authors try to one up each other in their short stories iirc
For real. A few on the list seem to use the violence to send an actual message or to get the reader thinking about morality or other aspects of humanity. But others seem to be violent just because, without an actual message or purpose.
Cows had a little social commentary but over all was packed with the nastiest things. I almost wanna say it was too much but I couldn’t put it down till I finished it!
This is a really good video! It’s nothing compared to the books in this video, but if you like disturbing books, one I like a lot is called Diaries From The Bunker Not quite this level, but very interesting
Sooo I saw this and decided to read Cows. I can't even begin to explain how much I hate this novel. It's disturbing but not like Cormac McCarthy disturbing. I think the author was trying to go for an Animal Farm vibe but failed miserably.
i'm ngl, i'm not at all one of those edgy "nothing phases me" ppl, but what the hell is ROOM doing that low on the list??? below stuff like cows, american psycho, haunted, etc? ik it's all subjective but there's basically nothing graphic in room and it's on the bottom of the iceberg??????
There is also a Hubert Selby Jr novel called The Room and it's by far his most fucked up novel. And that's really saying something. It's equal to the rest of the novels mentioned here.
In Let's Go Play... what the kids do to the babysitter is half the horror. Why they do it is the other half of the horror. I read this last year and it still haunts me.
I'm about to finish "the bighead" I've got less than an hour to go it's not a bad read but like how do I begin to tell people about it or recommend it to people
So is The Bighead worse than Going Monstering? It's another Lee book about a group of girls that want to get into a sorority who's members go on to become extremely beautiful, popular and smart. In order to get in though, they spend a week uh... Well... It IS an Edward Lee book.
The room was a brilliant book, as was the movie. It was moving. Not a thing to bring disgust (except for the man that kidnapped the mother). It was a well done story.
Okay just found your channel because it was suggested to me, as I watch a lot of iceberg videos, especially horror ones. Now yes, reading every book on an iceberg would be a lot, but I feel like maybe you should have taken the time to read them rather than just reading a description of the book that can be found online. There's something missing in this iceberg in terms of making it watchable imo, like when I was a disturbing movie iceberg I know the reviewer actually watched the movies, can describe scenes in detail, and give their own opinion on the content. This on the other hand is simply reading these 'shocking' descriptions' with no nuance or insight into the subject at all. I'd suggest that maybe next time you do an iceberg, you should go through and explore the content more in depth, take the time to do more research besides the basic plot summary such as exploring the author's other work, reading other reviews for the book, and lastly at least skimming the books you're reviewing. If you watched or read a movie review, you wouldn't want someone to just describe the plot with no further analysis would you? I'm just saying this as an observer, because I was actually excited for an iceberg like this but I couldn't even finish this video because the way you're reading these descriptions lack any real thought behind them.I'd say just keep this in mind, no hate man just wanted to give some thoughts!
It's kind of hard to listen to what your saying, when your face is being so distracting, it's so perfect in all ratios. Very strong and perfectly beautiful features. ❤ hehe love the video content too! Keep it up ^^
I don’t understand why you made this series. You clearly haven’t read a single one of these books, almost all of these ‘descriptions’ are just story synopses from tropedia. Often, with the way you’re pronouncing the names of acclaimed authors, their characters, or just words to describe their works (I recall you calling one work “existentionalist”?), I begin question if you’re someone who even wishes to read any of them? I’m not claiming that I have read all of these, several I had never even heard of, but I would never take it upon myself to introduce people to an entire genre of books when my entire understanding of them is from a wiki reading on the right hand side of the camera...
The worst thing about The Girl Next Door is definitely that all that stuff happened to a real girl, Sylvia Likens... I hope she's resting in peace, she truly deserves it after everything she went through.
That's exactly what I thought and was about to comment.

@@AleTitan especially when in the book they were trying to blame a "declining mental state" no the real woman was just evil with no real excuse.

Earned a new sub! Can't believe you dont have 10k subscribers, the quality of your vids is great! Wishing you tons of success
Room seems like the “happiest” of these books so far
I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be another book by the same name but written by Hubert Selby jr. (Same dude who wrote Requiem for a Dream)

the creator of the iceberg confirmed its referencing “the room” by hubert selby jr

I think The Room being referred to is the one written by Hubert Selby Jr
that's not the right 'The Room' 😅
11:04 it's the berenstain bears!!
Big head is like a fallout mod gone horribly wrong to put it lightly
I really dont think Pat Cornwell's Flesh and Blood is the right one. It sounds like a very mainstream and safe thriller.
I watched the three parts back to back and it was great watch
4:09 You're mispronouncing inexorable. You added an entire syllable that isn't there AND emphasized the wrong syllable.
Is your hand doing the reading or just conducting 😂 Great stuff

I can’t believe you didn’t put Hogg on any of these lists, it’s one of the most Disgusting books ever written.

The room has a movie as well
The room was a brilliant book, as was the movie. It was moving. Not a thing to bring disgust (except for the man that kidnapped the mother). It was a well done story.
I’m disappointed that every video about this iceberg has picked the wrong “Room” to talk about. Hubert Selby Jr deserves better
everyone knows tommy weisseou made the superior room
Surprised Geek Love isn't on here
I recommend The Turner Diaries for this video!
