- The Caribbean island of St Vincent has been rocked by a huge explosion, as the La Soufriere volcano fired a huge plume of ash and hot gas into the skies. (Subscribe: bit.ly/C4_News_Subscribe)
Officials said it was "destroying everything in its path", amid fears for the safety of some residents who have refused to obey orders to evacuate.
The series of volcanic explosions over the last few days have disrupted food and fresh water supplies, wiping out forests and farmland. From St Vincent, Kenton Chance reports.

My dads side of the family is from St.vincent 🇻🇨 I loved seeing that the people there can still have a good laugh even in tough times, which from my experience, definitely represents the spirit of St.vincent.
Some did seem care free 😏😏😏, Like Jack Sparrow in the movie " The pirates of the Caribbean's ". and its sequels.
Our people are low key one of the toughest in the Caribbean family, I really want to come over and help support and clean up. My relatives are based in Sandy Bay, Fancy, Harmony Halls and Layou, I’ll pray for your family as well as we are ‘all family’ 🇻🇨

I can only imagine what my Caribbean neighbours are going through. I live in Barbados and i never imagined that so much ash would come our way. After 10 on Saturday morning it felt like night. I pray that this will end soon but mother nature has the last say. Keep strong St Vincent we all are with you in this!!
It is not just ash on Barbados that concerns people. Krakatoa exploded destroying its island causing a Tsunami to wipe out surrounding communities. If that happens in the Caribbean it will devastate as far away as Huston, Texas.
@@SMunro yes and even if that doesn't happen it's still could be really devastating because when they start spewing rocks some of them can easily be the size of refrigerators and when they are flying at people like projectiles it is quite grisly .

Keep in mind the government is willing to let folks die on the island if they don't get the shot. That should make you super suspicious about all governments, and the shot, but I'm sure most people won't care.

Hawaii always have Volcanoes, once it settles you will see the benefits, the ash is a great fertilzer filled with minerals and will make the land lush after a few rain storms. The Volcanoes itself produces all sorts of resources, gold, diamonds, zinc and more.

A similar ash rain happened a couple of years ago in my country. This is very unfortunate & my prayers for the locals.

Actually, the area the Volcano is located is known for marijuana plantations. St. vincent produces one of the best marijuana on the international market.
Researchers say it's because the volcanic soils are rich in macronutrients, especially sulfur.
Everyone on the island is aware.. I think the farmers would appreciate discretion.

my grandma has grapefruit trees, a pomegranate tree, and a tree that is crossed with lime and lemon that grow on volcanic soil. They taste amazing.

The volcanic ash makes the soil better for plants/farming. It's a good thing for the Island in The long term.
There is no protecting the crops in the north. The farms have been devastated. It would be reckless like the rasta man who stay to protect his weed. The ash is not immediately beneficial to the crops, but will be in the long run. We will get through this stronger.🇻🇨🇻🇨🇻🇨

I experienced this in the Philippines when Mt. Taal erupted last January 2020. Many towns and cities where covered by ash. Thousand of Horses left in the main volcano island. Few survived.

The problem is bigger than just St.Vincent. It's also the fact that ash from this same volcano is traveling to all the various islands around and that includes Barbados which is much further out in the Atlantic ocean than most of any Caribbean islands. They getting lots of ash raining down there too which is also hitting many of the other neighboring islands.

If anyone knows the island's nature boys, they are very comfortable at sea. Some may think Super Cat is being cavalier, but a few feet down to the shore he has a runner, weeded (gas-ed) and ready to go. I sense he's probably dancing through the Grenadines as we speak.

@@Xscape128 ash contains minerals, at first it is not really that great for plants, they get covered and dont get the proper amount of sunlight.after it breaks down into the soil though it's is very beneficial. Mount st Helen's for example, after it blew the next years crop of green apples were awesome.

One of the most dangerous volcano is Yellowstone National Park in the USA. If it ever erupt, according to Geologist, it could spell calamity for much of the USA.
