Kendra Curtis walaikum salaam, as far as I have learnt, going to extremes meaning saying that meat is not permissible for anyone. An ideological vegetarian who has no basis or facts for their information and blindly follows. Forcing the ideology down other people’s throats, I know some vegetarian societies that do this, I read in an article that vegans would take people to slaughterhouses so that they could witness animals being slaughtered, so that they could turn them into vegetarians. This is how we say ‘unethical forms of mind control”. I hope I answered your question to the fullest.

The Dalai Lama himself eats meat occasionally. We can't live a 100% vegetarian life, especially if we live in countries where there's not much vegetables to eat. We also can't be meat-eaters because we'll get sick and destroy the planet. The Prophet p.b.u.h's diet was 90% plant-based. When he ate meat, it was rare and in small portions. The whole idea behind the ritual sacrifice in Islam, is not to make the slaughterhouse richer, but to learn how to use the resources of our planet. That's why we keep only 1/3rd of the animal and share the rest to the needy and relatives.

I don't think the heart problems in the Pakistani community are due to eating meat but they are due to the wrong cooking methods for example deep frying and eating sweets + high carbohydrates.
As far as I have noticed, the Pakistani people, even if eating meat, their meat portion is less and carbs, like bread and rice portion is big.
Then, a lot of them use refined oils. So I think it's not meat but these other things.

The meat from factory farms is also NOT halal nor kosher. Muhammad was staunchly against animal cruelty. Eating meat is permissible, but factory farming is not, it's like a concentration camp for animals.
True halal meat is expensive, because the animal is pasture raised outside in the fresh air and sun, not in a cafo (Concentrated Animal Feeding Operation). With the plethora of vegetarian options around, people still prefer cheap meat, regardless of how cruel these cafo's are.
I honestly believe lots of people will be entering the fire for how merciless they are towards animals.

Salam Alaikum, I would say that having a broadly plant-based diet is fine, good and pure, particularly in a situation where haram foods are prevalent. But while a great deal of the food Allah provides us from the earth is halal as well as vegan, its definitions do not neatly align with the definition of what is halal, because alcohol is also vegan. Therefore it is a risk to take veganism as an identity because this is an idea which is extrinsic to Islam, since it requires us to pretend that meat and animal produce is haram whether it is dedicated in the name of Allah or not. The main thrust of its advocacy comes from those who do not know or accept the reality of their subjection to Allah. As explained in the Quran, they have a sense of proportion of their human nature which is out of kilter with the rest of creation. I write this for my own good as well as for others; the knowledge that is with Allah is greater.

Allah wants us to be happy. We're _supposed_ to enjoy the pleasure of sugar/fat and meat. What's the proof? We have not one, but two Eid in the year! Problem is, most of us who live in the West end up celebrating Eid three times a day, 365 days of the year. And we seem to think we can do that without consequences...
With respect to anemia, I think it's more important to make sure you're getting enough leafy, green vegetables. At least three servings (a cup of raw or 1/2 cup cooked is one serving) daily. Daily legumes (beans, chickpeas, lentils) are also beneficial. (1/2 cup cooked/canned, or 1/4 cup measured dry is one serving.) It's also important to eat foods high in Vitamin C at every meal.
Particularly if you eat eggs and dairy daily, most people do fine with once weekly servings (120 grams or 4 ounces) of meat. Goat is low in fat, but more nutritious than chicken or poultry. Even fattier beef or lamb/mutton are better than chicken, just because you're getting more nutrition. Also, keep in mind that organ meats are more rich in nutrients than bony cuts, and bony cuts are more nutritious than muscle meats.
Shellfish (molluscs, not crustaceans) are the most nutritious meat of all, and certainly, they're a source of "animal iron." If once weekly red meat isn't quite enough, you can eat clams and oysters on additional days of the week.
I'm not a doctor. I'm just a fellow sinner and a Muslim, sharing one answer to Michael's Pollan's "Omnivore's Dilemma." I hope you find the advice helpful.
      Jazāk'Allāhu Khayran

I'm questioning this from a moral perspective, back then the prophet Mohammed peace be upon him used to live in the desert, with not so many alternatives when it came to his diet. But now we can very well survive without meat (since the protein..etc can be found in different combinations of vegetables...)and I'm not claiming that, it's according to multiple american and European studies. Besides vegans proved to be the healthiest people nowadays. So I really wonder if animals were really made just for human beings to consume them. It is impossible to completely separate blood from animal flesh. Here Mohammed was hinting to the more intelligent reader with "a portent for people who think" that flesh is never to be eaten but disguising it cleverly so not to put off the weaker followers from abandoning the religion completely with a sin they cannot give up.
