I watched the Queen and Adam Lambert documentary The Show Must Go On, and the drummer Roger Taylor, who has heard Freddie Mercury sing this song originally in the beginning, when talking about this performance said he had never heard it sang this beautifully.... That's quite a statement... People hate on Adam for being chosen to be the lead singer, but the original members Roger and Brian chose him and they absolutely love him... And say there is no one on the planet that can sing as great as he does... That he's the best singer that there is 😊 and they should know because they performed with the best lead singer of all time, the late great Freddie Mercury 😎
This performance is by far my favorite version of this song that Adam has done, and he has sung this song with Queen a lot! But there was just something about the emotion behind this performance that just stood out and you could just feel it.

@@beccajames9341 When it comes to Queen, some songs like "Who Wants to live forever" and "Show must go on" Adam completely owns it, but other songs like "Bohemian Rhapsody" and "Love of my Life" Marc Martel is just phenomenal. "Somebody to love" and "We are the Champions" both own it equally Together they truly do justice to Queen's reportoire

I think technically Adam is the better singer and has way more stamina for live shows, something even Freddie struggled with (hence his many modifications live). MM has a much better voice for some of Queen's songs, but he has said himself he can't keep up the voice for many hours of singing. Both are great in their own way

I found the best video of Adam Lambert’s Teacher which he sang at a George Michael’s tribute. It is by Violetglitz (thank you and all credit to this videographer). She had a good seat. Also, along the lines of Who Wants to Live Forever, Queen and Adam Lambert perform Show Must Go On, which is both incredibly encouraging and poignant. Freddie never got to perform this song live. He was not that far from death, and Brian had the idea to write Show Must Go On. Aware of the delicacy of the situation, Brian asked Freddie if it would be okay to write it and if Freddie thought he would be able to perform it. Freddie said to go ahead and write it and he would try to perform it. So the day of the performance, Freddie had greatly declined. He said he would try but they had to do it all at once. He asked for a shot of vodka and was able to get it done in one shot. They were able to get it into the studio and work with it into a recorded version. Adam, of course, sings it live, and when asked about it, he says that he thinks about Freddie so much while performing it that he gets dizzy. I think that the 9-21-18 Vegas version is one of the best I’ve seen for many reasons. I also like the Singapore version. When it doesn’t seem like I’m writing a novel, I’ll give you a couple of his funny, lighthearted songs, because Adam is very funny. The couch Killer Queen has some funny versions, and the solo Let’s Dance On Sydney 1 is great. He has fun dancing on this one.

I know, right? I saw Queen in concert with their previous replacement singer, Paul Rodgers from Bad Company, about 10+ years ago, and the best part of the concert was when Paul Rodgers left the stage for a wardrobe change for 10 minutes and Brian and Roger (and Spike Edney, who toured with the band and played on most of their albums in the 1980s) played several songs without him. But during the summer of 2017 I saw Queen + Adam Lambert in Nashville (a 10+ hour drive from where I live and totally worth the trip), and my god, it was an amazing experience. Adam's energy and talent are just made for this music, and it was unforgettable. He isn't Freddie, but he does a hell of a job honoring Freddie's legacy.

Have seen QAL twice in Toronto, once in Vegas at the residency and every tour they up it...it is a show not to be missed...now they are doing stadium tours in 2020. Also looking forward to when Adam tours when B side is released..have seen him 3 times live too...

I know you can’t react to Adam all the time, but for a solo performance that is a vocal masterpiece and awe-inspiring, you would definitely appreciate Adam’s performance of Teacher. He performed it at a George Michael’s tribute concert. There are a couple of different videos, but one is really close-up. I think that public perception of Adam is changing. I was watching “Spread Your Wings”, don’t remember what show, and some of the self-confessed, only Freddie Queen purists said they were coming around. And who ever has had the most difficult job of becoming frontman for one, if not the top, frontmen of all time? Freddie Mercury? But in an interview, he said that with Queen, he had found an audience which gave him permission to be exactly who he is. Queen has been and still are selling out shows world-wide since 2014. People wouldn’t buy tickets just to hear background music and vocals, even though Brian and Roger are major icons, so that might be possible at first.. Some people might have come to a show and decided this wasn’t their cup of tea, while others are fans for life. And Adam’s solo career grows during his performances in things like the Wicked and the Believe performances. For newer fans, you should listen to him cover George Michael’s Teacher (a good performance to review), and after some business delays, he assures us that solo music will indeed be coming in spring. Anyway, yes, there has been negative feedback, much from trolls, and there are still some hold-outs who believe that if Freddie isn’t singing it, it shouldn’t be performed. But see how many negative commentators can’t even spell Freddie’s name correctly. Anyway, I just wanted to provide a counterpoint that Adam is more loved than hated, certainly of late his name recognition is growing, and since he has spent so much performance time overseas, he is more a world-wide superstar than many of our big names are. It’s just that although anybody’s opinion is certainly and fully their own, I think that an assessment that sees how Adam is perceived in a more positive light, though of course we would like to, and will, I believe see his exposure grow here in the States. Sometimes, slow and steady wins the race! Better than being a flash in the pan.

There "are so many great Adam Lambert performances to react to. One that I haven't seen anybody do is from his pre-American Idol days. Unfortunately it's audio only, but it's so extraordinary that I think it's very worth doing. The song is :Come to me, bend to me" from the classic musical Brigadoon, which he performed at the age of 22, a good four or five years before Idol. This song was the title track for the movie “Highlander” starring Christopher Lambert, no relation to Adam. If you get a chance to watch it you will not be disappointed. Astounding, indeed. This is an emotional song to begin with, but the fact that this performance was the day after the largest act of violence against the LGBT community in U.S. history and that Adam dedicated it to the 49 people who lost their life...whew!! It resonates so deeply and it moves me to tears every single time. Adam is such a beautiful person and it really bothers me that he gets so much hate from Queen fans. But as the saying goes, haters gonna hate. If they choose not to embrace and appreciate his brilliance, it's their loss.

Loves me some Queen and Freddie but sometimes it seems like Brian wrote his songs for Adam but he just didn't know it at the time.
So this. He sings some songs and takes them to places they've never been, elevates them sometimes. Incredible, and still so underrated by too many.

I know, right? I saw Queen in concert with their previous replacement singer, Paul Rodgers from Bad Company, about 10+ years ago, and the best part of the concert was when Paul Rodgers left the stage for a wardrobe change for 10 minutes and Brian and Roger (and Spike Edney, who toured with the band and played on most of their albums in the 1980s) played several songs without him. But during the summer of 2017 I saw Queen + Adam Lambert in Nashville (a 10+ hour drive from where I live and totally worth the trip), and my god, it was an amazing experience. Adam's energy and talent are just made for this music, and it was unforgettable. He isn't Freddie, but he does a hell of a job honoring Freddie's legacy.

And delivers more times than not. Did you know he only canceled one damn show in the last ten years with Queen over the 200 hes done??As far I know. No offense to Paul Rodgers. But when ever Adam hits a mike he does delivers a Show even if its a bit cheesy. The fact that he is from broadway should tell you he hates lip singing or autotune. I dont care he doesn't have a 'rock n roll' voice.. people should be respecting him on whats he managed to do already. But instead gets crapped by 'Queen' fans on soon as the movie hits. 😤You know he could just stop because he gets more hated than respected and gets hate comments. And should just focus on solo...which he is about to release on before the tour. But he loves Brian and Rodger.

I don't think anyone will win over most of the original Queen fans maybe George Micheal back in the day? He was already loved in the UK who knows. It must be so hard to do your best and it makes no difference. Trouble is Freddie's been loved for the best part of 50 years, and thats about much more than your vocals. And thats when you start using the word legend...then whoever comes along next, however amazing they maybe are going to struggle. Maybe Adam will only really come into his own when he just does his music because the crowd will be his fans coming to see him. I wish him well but i don't envy him😊

Have seen QAL twice in Toronto, once in Vegas at the residency and every tour they up it...it is a show not to be missed...now they are doing stadium tours in 2020. Also looking forward to when Adam tours when B side is released..have seen him 3 times live too...

Thank you so very much for what you do. Your love for music just shines through! I know you can’t react to Adam all the time, but for a solo performance that is a vocal masterpiece and awe-inspiring, you would definitely appreciate Adam’s performance of Teacher. He performed it at a George Michael’s tribute concert. There are a couple of different videos, but one is really close-up.
I think that public perception of Adam is changing. I was watching “Spread Your Wings”, don’t remember what show, and some of the self-confessed, only Freddie Queen purists said they were coming around. And who ever has had the most difficult job of becoming frontman for one, if not the top, frontmen of all time? Freddie Mercury? But in an interview, he said that with Queen, he had found an audience which gave him permission to be exactly who he is. Queen has been and still are selling out shows world-wide since 2014. People wouldn’t buy tickets just to hear background music and vocals, even though Brian and Roger are major icons, so that might be possible at first.. Some people might have come to a show and decided this wasn’t their cup of tea, while others are fans for life. And Adam’s solo career grows during his performances in things like the Wicked and the Believe performances. For newer fans, you should listen to him cover George Michael’s Teacher (a good performance to review), and after some business delays, he assures us that solo music will indeed be coming in spring. Anyway, yes, there has been negative feedback, much from trolls, and there are still some hold-outs who believe that if Freddie isn’t singing it, it shouldn’t be performed. But see how many negative commentators can’t even spell Freddie’s name correctly. Anyway, I just wanted to provide a counterpoint that Adam is more loved than hated, certainly of late his name recognition is growing, and since he has spent so much performance time overseas, he is more a world-wide superstar than many of our big names are. It’s just that although anybody’s opinion is certainly and fully their own, I think that an assessment that sees how Adam is perceived in a more positive light, though of course we would like to, and will, I believe see his exposure grow here in the States. Sometimes, slow and steady wins the race! Better than being a flash in the pan.

On a proper note why are people deemed as Trolls if they don't like something? I read it all the time now someone doesnt like a song their a "troll" it used to be called different taste... i think Adam has a great voice but i wouldnt go and see him with Queen but would see him solo. No im not a "troll" i saw queen a lot in the 70's and a few times in the 80's and the reason i kept going ? They brought out a new album then toured its how it was then. You never knew what you was getting vocally or visually. They went from white Queen to stone cold crazy etc etc always different always taking chances fearless. Its not Adam being there that stops me its the same old play list that iv heard for years... great songs but music should change and grow thats what i want from a concert...

"OMG" is exactly what I said too when I first heard Adam's (and Queen's!) performance of this song... in between tears of sadness, joy, and shock at Adam's emotional delivery. I've enjoyed seeing various "Reaction" videos to this Isle of Wight performance in 2016 and your's was very honest and heartfelt. There "are so many great Adam Lambert performances to react to. One that I haven't seen anybody do is from his pre-American Idol days. Unfortunately it's audio only, but it's so extraordinary that I think it's very worth doing. The song is :Come to me, bend to me" from the classic musical Brigadoon, which he performed at the age of 22, a good four or five years before Idol. Astounding, indeed. This is an emotional song to begin with, but the fact that this performance was the day after the largest act of violence against the LGBT community in U.S. history and that Adam dedicated it to the 49 people who lost their life...whew!! It resonates so deeply and it moves me to tears every single time. Adam is such a beautiful person and it really bothers me that he gets so much hate from Queen fans. But as the saying goes, haters gonna hate. If they choose not to embrace and appreciate his brilliance, it's their loss.
