      Glad to see that justice prevailed, somehow. The small fraud and con, however, remain unnoticed, uncaught. I am a Watertown/MA resident and I know a couple of thieves, William R. Noble and Marina Noble who are a bold FRAUD by lying everywhere that they are "running phase-1 drug safety studies" in their own apartment kitchen, without a workplace or appropriate space to conduct any research and both are cons, as none of them has any suitable education, or any education at all. Then, they use the fabricated "files of studies" and ask the naive, started drug companies reimburse them for so-called "vigilance." A primitive FRAUD. Marina Noble is also a shoplifter, she is an Armenian (former name Marine Mkhitaryan). We all Watertown/MA hate to see this couple still in freedom. Time by time they escape to West Yarmouth/MA, Bill Noble's parents' place when they are evading prosecution. FBI and FDA do nothing to stop this couple, when they actions are directly endangering our lives as they create fake drug-testing records and contribute to the wrongful deaths or side effects from the not tested drugs. William Noble and Marina Noble must be in prison.

    This is very sad. Not just because Elizabeth Holmes and her peers have misled and cheated many investors, the real shame is that this scandal will make all the other honest innovative diagnosis companies difficult to get grants and investment. Now people will over-react and run the other way when they hear other diagnosis companies. This will have a huge negative impact for research and innovation for awhile.

      IMO, it's only good that people become more suspicious of these self-proclaimed geniuses. With a network like the www in place, it's way too easy to get massive attention simply by using the right tools and triggering the right feels in people, without actually doing anything of substance. Perhaps people need to get burned a few times in order to develop some resistance to these fraudsters.

BUT instead the twit somehow managed to attract investors and put one over the media. What really shocked me about the Theranos fraud was how many high profile investors got totally scammed. It's as if these people just suspended their normal critical thinking when a pretty young woman (Holmes) was the one in the CEO position making the pitch. This science must be peer reviewed or it is not worth a penny. This is why we need regulation in industry. They might just be poking you with a pin and spitting numbers at you. I honestly cannot be more disappointed that they were allowed to get this big without peer review. We have patent laws, nobody can steal their technology but we must know that they are doing actual science.

      Most probable, the technology cannot be patented because the technology was "copied" by the "entrepreneur" and her team (publications, new but not established techniques, projects, proposals, PhD theses etc). For sure, this girl did not know anything about the science, the technology and methodologies of this process. She was not capable to understand the results and the process. She was an empty “bucket” surrounded by other empty buckets.

      Somebody commented that when Google Ventures (Google's Private Equity fund) was approached by Theranos. They sent a Harvard Medical doctor over un-announced for a test. He went back to Google Ventures, reported that it smelled like BS (especially after they demanded a venous blood-draw, not a finger prick) and to stay away. They did, and he got promoted.
      In the *John Carreyou book **_Bad Blood_** he reports that* Pfeizer knew it was crap after inviting Theranos in to work on a single study. Walgreens had hired a consultant who warned them, Theranos claims didn't add up. But, the Board ignored him because they were afraid "What if it really could work, and they sign an exclusive deal with CVS?" Which of course is what Elizabeth had threatened, because making threats is a big inducement to fraud.

The uniform draws the similarity and works on investors. What wierds me out is that there are so many military advisors. Why do heavy hitters like these affiliate themselves with a product which doesn't have FDA approval?

    It is common sense. The core concept itself is flawed. Blood is colloid (random mixture of liquids and particles). The accuracy of its composition depends on the amount of sample it is tested upon since the mixture wont be homogeneous everywhere. It is basic statistics that to increase accuracy you increase the sample of your experiment so that the average value nears the exact value.
    Its like sampling only 10 random people from the population of 7 billion to find the different composition of skin colour.
    I am not a doctor but i dont understand how none of the investors questioned this.. Technology is not magic

    • @MTsassenach
      @MTsassenach 5 лет назад +11

      Exactly.. finger puncture or capillary blood is not a representative of an entire blood in the body..in fact theres a lot of difference between capillary and venous blood.. the venous blood is more likely the best sample for testing...some capillary blood contains tissue fluid that may affect the test results.... sooo total bs

    I was very excited when I first heard about Theranos in the first Forbes article on the company in 2014. But then as I continued reading the article, a huge red flag flew up when I got to the part about its board of directors. There was not a single scientist on the board, or anyone with a background in medical technology or diagnostics. Then the concern grew exponentially when the author characterized Theranos’s board as the most stellar BOD ever assembled. That just revealed that the media was acting as a cheering section instead of providing a thoughtful, fact-based analysis of the company.

    As someone who works in laboratory medicine I can respect the innovation that this woman is trying to pioneer. But if you do not have peer-reviews of your methodologies by independent sources then all we have to go on is the word of the inventor. So I have to remain skeptical of her claims until her methodologies are tested and verified.

      +Bethsaida Romelus obviously you don't understand. The argument was that she is now completely broke. I argued no, because she could have sold stock at any time before the company's downfall. Thus, it's very possible that she has a ton of money. Sure, the company is now worthless, but when it had value she could have sold stock for cash. And she most likely did.

    How in the heck were they worth 9 billion bucks when they didn't do anything?? I don't get it.

    • @nicolashrv
      @nicolashrv 5 лет назад +2

      it was a potential value, not an actual value (the company had around 960 millon dollars worth of investors......the 9 billion was the estimate worth due to the potential success.........but since they failed to deliver their product, that value went to 0, meaning their shares were worthless, and the only value was the investors money and the assests she bought with that)
      Since so many moguls wanted to invest, it made the shares worth a lot.........the problem is eventually the fraud was exposed (technically, not a fraud since she was trying to make the stupid machine she wanted....but the fraud was when she faked the balance of the company to make it look to have more potential than what it really had, which also made her responsable of fraud against investors, plus in order to actually get a real contract an real income, she sold their service to a pharmacy chain, when they didn't had anything to provide in first place (again, they had a regular laboratory to do regular everyday tests, they didn't run the tests on their own product, because those test were all wrong since the machine didn't work).

    Proof that Ms. Holmes' a robot:
    At 11:05, there's an instant white flash around her right eye & on her left cheek.
    This's an AI allusion to circumstantial pressure. This's designed in the prototype series that Ms. Holmes is from in order to help the scientists be able to identify the registration of human feelings in robots. The newer models will register the feeling of circumstantial pressure, but will circumvent the white flashes shown in the video. This happened due to by-now-undrestood lack of quality control & expertise in the Theranos Robotics Corp.
