Your approach was spot on with the way you supported the frame while "Z'ing" it. Tip for you if you ever do it again and the frame is tilted in or out use long pipe clamps to pull it back into alignment. Nice job 👍
I didn't expect the SVT wheels to work with the look, but when you put the fender up there it changed my mind. Looks great except for the shade of the wheel.
The frame rails are far from straight and parallel on these frames. I just don't feel like it's worth the time and effort to grind it all down. Once it's painted it'll look fine, and once the truck is back together no one will ever see it.
The reason the frame rails twisted like that is because they weren't braced on the bottom before cutting. The same exact thing happened to me when I Z'd the front end of my 72 f100. The rails are supposed to be straight. Your truck looks good.
@carscream1650 Hmm, interesting. Yeah, it's hard to know what these old frames are gonna do when you cut them. I ended up wedging a 2x4 tube to straighten it back out.
@cars&cream I sub'd for your courage of doing a Z. Im diggin this content. I've owned a miller 135 since the late 90s and need to upgrade it, Do you have the 211?

I didn't want to pull it into alignment because I didn't wanna throw the whole thing off.
Good looking welds there!
Wow, I’m really impressed!
For half the work with same results..... could have just used a camaro subframe. But I give you my respect for taking on the project.
I researched all option and picked the best one for me. No regrets.

They're temporary. I'll probably be getting some classic 15" cragars... Unless I talk myself into 22s.
Not sure why I'm watching this.. haha I'd box in that front section just for aesthetics! It would make it look better, IMHO!

I don't think that was the issue. The center part was at the same angle and it was strong.

Let's find a stock frame and see.

Yeah, the 211. I bought it just for this project and learned to weld. Still learning actually.
I am curious why you chose to c notch the frame there instead of just fabricate new mounting points that are 3 inches taller for the front suspension?
Because then the lower A-arms would have to go directly through the center of the frame.
If it was easy, everyone would do it!
Not the best looking solution ive ever seen. But as long as its safe its all that matters! plus looks worlds better than some of the stuff ive seen😳
It's a classic hot rodder solution, plus it'll look great once it's painted.. I sure hope it's safe.
