  • This DIY budget 3D printer enclosure can be designed to fit around any printer. The enclosure is sealed with a vent hose running out the top. I did everything I could to keep the cost really low. I hope you guys enjoyed the build!

+1👍 good to see other people's ideas in action 💪 i'm thinking of using thick plastic "bag" (zipper bag) from bed-spread purchase and wooden dowels + printed corners. small dc fan and old vacuum hose, 3d print exhaust for vac-hose end and unsure what for remaining window gap.

(genius computer builder here) in order to not contaminate your rooms air you need negative pressure within the enclosure. a simple heat rise option will not work as intended. make a small air inlet on the bottom and add an exhaust fan within the exhaust tube setup. this means you might have to have a larger exhaust tube unless you get creative. thats what i will be doing to mine. it will require some fiddling to get perfect but in the end you will have eliminated the ability for gas to excape out of the bottom. and with only one place to go, your room air will be clean. also reccomend getting an air purifier for your printing room if you spend a lot of time in there while printing just in case.

Is there a PVC filament? Or a PVC 3D printer?

What is forcing the contaminated air through the tube and not below your frame?

Thank you so much for the simple and efficient design. I plan on building this and I was wondering if you could give me the object file for the tube connector since I would like to modify it to fit a 120mm fan instead so the air would be forced out.

You definitely do not want a fan to blow the warm air out. That leaving air will need to get replaced, so the fan would then be sucking the colder outside air in through all of the cracks. Cold air coming in would mess up certain prints for sure! Just a heads up.

"Hot air rising" DEFINITELY won't result in this venting out that thin tube like you intend

0:20 You said you were going to put a link to studies about the byproducts of 3D printing being "not that great for you"? I think you forgot to post the links.

So how did your abs prints turn out? Did it help with the warping and layer adhesion?
