A man like Washington is one in a million. I don't think people realize just how lucky the United States was to be able to start off with him as president.
Hrotto2 Can I just mention that this is just a game, no one knows how the real Washington would have reacted, we can't make assumptions about what kind of person he was, because there is simply no way to tell.
You are correct that there is no way to tell in any sense of certainty what he would or would not have been like or what he would've done, but we can extrapolate and make guesses based on primary source documents from that era and guess at what he would've done. Its part of the reason why this whole game is marketed as fiction. I get your point though and its a valid one that I don't think people really walk away with most of the time.
msuweb.montclair.edu/~furrg/gbi/docs/kingmyth.html According to sources available, Washington received a suggestion that US might work better as a monarchy. The letters from the mischievous schemer (much like this cut scene) didn't point directly that Washington is the one who should go for the crown, although we can only presume that he was the most powerful authority and as such was the only one who could escalate the idea and even possibly take the crown for himself. He didn't refuse becoming the king, but he surely was against the sole idea altogether and thus we know for sure what kind of man he was, regarding the subject at hand.
I love how this DLC ended, really does remind you of what kind of man George Washington was. Sure he can be controversial as a slave owner and waged war against the Indians. He wasn’t a perfect man, but there were many times in his life that he chose to do the right thing. He could’ve made the President anything he would’ve wanted, become a military dictator, make himself untouchable, maybe even place a crown on his head. But he chose to make the Presidency simply a person who would need a cabinet of advisors, limited political power, and can always be elected out of power based on fair and rational charges. A position that was to benefit country and not self. I love how he disgustingly rejects the Apple. For he knows that power would dismantle what was the Revolution fought for in the first place. It even reminded Connor that Washington is a trustworthy man, sure he did things that Connor would never approve, even ordering the attack that killed his mother, but at least he could be respected and see him as a man with the capability to redeem himself and who would fight for what is right.
Washington slowly fell out of slavery as he got older. He gave his slaves freedom in his will but only after the death of his wife (she outlived him). If Washington was alive during the Civil War I have no doubt that he would have sided with the Union.
@@htf5555 the entire world was enslaving other people at the time of Colonial America. America was late to the party. Way late. America had slavery, but we ended it and others followed our path.

1:56 Washington: *Confused and reeling from his memories within the alternate reality, wants to attack Connor for having just killed him* Connor: "I killed you once.."
Well with what we know of Valhalla, this was apparently one of the many possible outcomes that Connor has watched since becoming a greater being an in attempt to find a solution to the Assassin/Templar problem.
It basically allows you to believe that you have the ability to control reality on a separate plane of existence while not controlling it directly.. like a lucid dream or a simulation. Ultimately it alows you to not exactly see the future, but what you would do with the power if you had it. For better or worse
That's the best part, Washington actually said these words in a letter to Lewis Nicola in 1782, who suggested he become king. It was in writing, but it was practically a direct quote.
The part i don't get about this DLC is isn't it implied that drinking the tea would make you go mad? But Connor didn't really go mad. He drank the tea three times and other than his eyes changing color, he was still pretty sane. I was expecting he would go insane or something..
He started to lose himself in the pursuit of power. He didn't quite get there, but his character does change throughout the story to showcase his growing greed.
plot twist: the apple got its way to atlantis, the only surviving nation from the one who came before. Arthur curry, a human hybrid and the leader of the atlantis took the apple.
1:33 Everyone the Apple throws at him tries to preserve its illusion. But then it made one mistake - it thought it could use the man himself. But illusion or not (and fanbase's RESPECT or not, cough cough), Connor is and always will be first and foremost, an Assassin.
George, I feel like you and your old friends would be ashamed of what we've become. Though at the same time I feel as though you'd be proud that the system you and those friends created with such caution and intuition in mind laid forth the foundation for Humanity to progress their development and even for God himself to progress his plans. That you'd be proud of us on our side of things for, against all odds, standing against tyranny. Though darkness looms all above and around us, like an iron dome, we are unafraid. The sun will rise again for us and freedom will prosper. Your will and God's will be done through he who was elected by the many to expose the corruption in the system you created and safe guard Humanity. God Bless America. God Bless you, Washington, with your friends in the days of old... and may God stand alongside and bless those still standing. He knows we need him now more than ever.

I don't think so. Edward is Connor's grand father. It may have something to do with AC3 and may answer the questions on how the Apple was found by Washington.
Whenever I get asked about my favorite portrayal of Washington in media. I always point to ACIII and this DLC. Yes it is not the most historically accurate when it comes to the story of the Washington and the Revolution. It also neglect Washington's temper and ambition he possess through most of his life and did not really touch on the fact he lived and died owning slaves. But what it did well, perhaps better than any other portrayal of the man was give us the two sides of him. On the one hand he was a deeply flawed man and a lot of his actions would have to be viewed as controversial by todays standards, though the attack on Connor's village is fictional it is based on real actions Washington took. But on the other hand you have the man who like many before and after him had an opportunity to make himself a king effectively, yet unlike so many of those men, he chose not to.
