If you see Taemin with say SuperM, or alone you would see how different he is alone, with SuperM and with SHINee. It's not like a diffferent personality but with SHINee he tends to let his guard down more, he is a different kinds of playful and relaxed. He is the youngest and he enjoys all the attention and care that his members shower him. as he said before SHINee and the members are like his home, his safe zone. The members also adore him a lot, and as they said even when Taemin has grown now, they still see him as the young kid they took care of before.
You're very right on saying that they are smart, sharp, and very intelligent people. On one program the translated caption described SHINee as a bunch of brainiacs 😂
I love how open and honest SHINee are. From the beginning of their careers especially in variety shows you can see that if they do not like something, they won't pretend to. It's very admirable in an industry where idols are used to placating others instead of speaking up for themselves. Their honesty is probably one of the reasons they have lasted so long as a group.
Also one of the reasons SM always send them as the 1st SM artist to appear on variety shows, in order to observe and see if the show is okay for other SM artists to appear.
They have the ability to provide feedback/input/constructing critisism in a firm way that can be well accepted by and not offend other party. Their wit and intelligence also making them skillful in throwing perfect banter, making the show's vibe fun & comfortable, even the difficult one like weekly idol (during old era lol).
you are so right about seeing how the members want that "validation from Onew". Onew's leadership is one for the books.. The members joke with him and all but they respect and trust him a lot, as an older brother, and as their leader. And he is such a selfless leader and I think the members too feel more ease when they get that "validation" from him - like when they say something or belt a high note or make a mistake or whatever they always glance at him, and he'd always have that reassuring smile/nod.
back then, when i saw jinki compliment taemin, taemin was really happy bout it,, like really happy. haha, i get it now why hes so happy, the person he respect compliment him .

The reason I stan SHINee is because the members are so kind, humble, funny, and talented. They have good personalities and a healthy lifestyle. They love each other and feel comfortable and safe with each other.

Aside from the superb skills and talent, what got me deep into SHINee was actually that sense of rawness in them.. like sincere, genuine aura. They don't sugarcoat and their bond and dynamics doesnt feel forced. They fight and whatnot, they love and respect each other as brothers and as artists. As they said before, they are very honest with each other, and they tend to discuss differences in opinion openly, but also acknowledge and understand. Their bond grew stronger over the years.
Their confidence and banter is part of why they were "test bunnies" for the company whenever a new variety show came about. There's a lot of them on Weekly Idol, a show where the hosts tend to "pick on" on the guests a bit, where they are of the few who really fight back haha. They're so clearly more shy alone but as soon as they have a member by their side they're super protective of each other and passionate. Very that sibling thing of "I can pick on him, but you can't!". Also well spotted on seeking Onew's validation. You can see it in some more laid back vocal perfomances that after Taemin does his part he often looks to Onew or Onew is already looking at him with a thumbs up like Hey good job. :)
And it’s funny how they’re also like “I can pick on you but you can’t pick on yourself.” 🙈 They tease the other but when that person says it about himself they’re like “That’s not true, you’re amazing.”
Having been together for over 14 years, these guys have grown up together, and, more than any other group, have been through more heartache and hardships. I think all of that has bonded them as a family--they truly love each other and want to be together even when they're not working as Shinee (Minho has commented on this several times, especially during incidents where he has the chance to touch base with Key). They also are probably the most supportive group around. Minho goes way out of his way to show up for his members' solo efforts and projects as do the other guys. This video came out not long after Minho had been discharged from his military service, and you can see how easily and comfortably they just fall back together into their normal banter. Taemin seems particularly overjoyed to have the group back together. You really can't help but love these guys. Their fandom crosses so many generations, not only because of their insane talent, but because of how genuine they are.
Shinee is one of the oldest kpop groups that is still very much alive and kicking, and trendy (in fact, they started a lot of trends that we take for granted in the kpop community these days! Things like dance practice videos!) Taemin is the youngest in the group, and he was still promoting his solo works while all his big brothers from shinee were finishing their military enlistment. One by one they all returned, and this is the first comeback they had as a full group again. So despite the fact that Taemin is one of the senior-most kpop idols who is so respected, he still felt a little out of place without his members, so his energy in this video is a bit extra high because he's just excited to be with his brothers again! He loves the group dynamics and all the fun banter, and I think was quite lonely while he waited for his brothers to return.
exactly how i feel! one of the reasons i love their interactions so much is because they have the wittiest jokes and banters among the other groups i have seen. and wit, for me, is a sign of intelligence
I find that Onew is relatively quiet but he always listens and watch all of his members tho 😄 he even have this little habit of mirroring what his members do or say, like when Key is doing the bg/gg dance he would watch and quietly following along in the background, when his member is talking abt something he sometimes repeats what they’re saying as if to tell them “yes I am listening”
And I agree abt them liking his validation, I feel like he’s like a ‘safety blanket’ to them, everyone in SHINee have pretty strong personalities, and they’re very independent (in a good way, they each seems to have a strong knowledge of themselves), so they don’t really need the strict controlling leader. Instead Onew’s calm presence would give them reassurance, as if if he says it’s okay it is gonna be okay.
This is just my observation tho 😁 as from my own experience I also fall on the category who needs that kind of leader instead of a strict one
Minho described Jinki leadership style best,as soft supportive charisma leading from the side rather than in front.
I think if he’d been the strict bossy type, shinee would not have lasted, they’re all very successful individuals with solo work, they stayed together because of the safe space support Jinki provided by example.
i think taemins comfort zone is definitely with shinee so he's automatically more energetic when it's just the whole of shinee together

I think taemin in this video is so excited for making a comeback with all the members after a long time .
Actually taemin debuted when he was very young so he was very calm and shy but after a long time in front of camera he became more energetic as his shinee hyungs once mentioned that he changed a lot during their milirary service period he became more talkative and energitic and i also want to tell this about taemin he's one of the best dancers and performers in kpop history and he is called the idol of idols because so many young idols look up to him and dreamed being idols watching him i think my comment is so long anyway thank you so much max for all of your reactions love your videos always .
I fear that when Taemin comes back from military his energetic self will be minimal😩😭 bc of the bad things he went/is going thru (to my knowledge)

@@Heyguhh Please stop spreading that rumors! Yes, he had a hard time, but bad things did not happen to him there. He knew that he would have a hard time even before he joined the army. Celebrities have enough problems without that, it is not necessary to make out and distribute new ones.
The “What Makes SHINEE Scared” interview is an excellent example of their communication in a formal interview about their art. It is DCM era and a little longer than usual. It is really good.
interesting thing! jinki (onew) is the oldest but he's definitely the gentlest in terms of personality but the members have said that they get scared of him the most when he's angry (because he rarely gets angry.) they definitely treat jinki...like a princess, almost? like just sweet and fun without much of the sharper banter that the other members engage in. one thing i've noticed about onew is that he's pretty chill and calm but will do something bizarre that steals the whole show 😂

I love Onew because he sits back and lets his members shine. I want to see more of him all the time tho
SHINee is the only group I know where everyone got masters degree. Despite debuting really young (14-18 y.o.), they never sacrificed their education.
Old comment but I believe Onew also said in an interview that he really WANTED to get his MA and found the learning to be very fun especially in contrast to his job as an idol 🤗
Love your SHINee reactions! This was their first comeback since the three older members came back from the miltary. Taemin was by himself for a couple years. Taemin was so happy to have his members back. 😁♥️
I love your SHINee vids! And I love the way you can really see the members personalities, especially Onew since he's usually misunderstood as being just quiet and I can relate to him a lot :)
Taemin is hype here. He is reaaaaally happy that he is with his hyungs in this come back after almost 3 years. His happiness in this era will be in my mind forever
SHINee have that very wholesome and chaotic dynamics between them. It's also interesting how their dynamics also differ a bit when there's like only 3 members, or any two members. There are times when all of them are hyper in an interview/talk, and there are times when one or two arent so into the mood (say sick), and in those situations you see how they know each other very well. They balance out the atmosphere and give that member some time.
Key cracks me up!
I really hope you’ll check out some of Taemin’s performances. He truly transforms into legendary performer once he’s on stage. He’s absolutely in his element discussing anything stage/performance related and his knowledge is huuuge. It’s definitely his biggest passion. But his off stage personality is just as you pointed out - very charming and genuinely engaging. He’s a genuinely funny and caring person, he makes people feel relaxed around him and he’s totally adorable with his sense of humor. I really hope you’ll check out some of his English speaking compilations, those vids are absolutely hilarious and show his charm and relationship with fans very well!

What I like about SHINee, and key shows this more obviously than the rest but they still do it to an extent, is that they openly call out the things about their job, staff, boss, idol-lifestyle that they find nonsensical and they’ve got a lot of sass when they do it lol
Minho doing his solo vlives? He’s constantly calling out the staff for writing content and dialog in the script that he hates and he does it on camera and gives zero fucks😂
Key does the same but his energy is visibly more “I’m over this”. I remember him rolling his eyes during one program over being made to do aegyo. When Key feels a certain way about something you can clearly see it in his facial expression.
Taemin doesn’t show his displeasure in his face as much as I’ve seen from MinKey. Instead he just laughs and smiles while openly refusing to do something OR he laughs while he does something he knows he shouldn’t be doing (like spoiling lyrics 😂) and no amount of scolding stops him.
I feel like Onew is pretty straightforward too and he can go straight for the jugular in his humor but he gives off this “I’m a cinnamon roll” vibe so when he does it it kinda catches you off guard and ends up being funnier than it should be. I feel like Onew on his own is a lot more cut-throat and savage than he is when with the other members.
They are not a group...they are a family. There's no pretending among them. That's legit.

Taemin actually only started being confident and opening up the past couple years, there were same drastic changes and I think all those events forced him to change his demeanour. He was always the one who talked the least
I agree with the other commenters saying you should react to minho and key. Their I Live Alone episodes are legendary but there's also other content of the two of them. Their dynamic is so fun to watch and just the other day I basically wrote a whole thesis on their relationship to a friend of mine.
Minho and Key could have their own variety show or sitcom and I'd never get tired of watching it.

If I may make a suggestion, SHINee has on its official channel a small series of 6 episodes of the reality show they recorded in 2018, celebrating the group's 10th anniversary. The show is called “SHINee’s back” and each episode is approximately 10 minutes long. I think it will be very interesting to see your comments on this series!

Love your videos, especially with SHINee ♡ These guys have been through A LOT in the last few years. It's interesting you chose this video because it was taken after military service (they didn't see each other for 2 years)
Onew was uneasy to be in front of a camera again, Minho was a bit worried about the comeback, Key was also nervous because they chose a difficult song to make their comeback, but Taemin was extremely happy to be with them. I think that's why you said that Taemin looks so charismatic here, because he was taking care of his brothers.
Could you watch the video of them meeting for the 1st time after military service? (It's on the SHINee channel) The way they welcome each other is so precious. I never saw them as emotional as at that moment ♡

i would recommend watching the key/minho episode of I Live Alone. you really get to see Key’s dramatics, which is what makes him the best of the 4 for panel and reality shows.

They all came back from the army(minus Taemin) during this promotion period. Taemin was so happy to be together with his big brothers after 2 years and it made him more hyper. Onew had gone through a lot and was not sure how to adapt to a celebrity life and being in front of cameras again. Now he is much more relaxed as he had 2 variety shows, 2 musicals, 2 solo albums, a solo concert tour since this video. Key and Minho were always good at variety shows so they still rock.
I would say Taemin is not as innocent as he looks. He is brutally honest, 2nd after Key, if compared within the group lol. It is just people are used to his cute side because of watching him grow up with SHINee. It is funny how sometimes he says something so brutal that even Key is shocked and looks proud.

I feel like people never expect if from him either and then he drops and absolute bomb on them and its even funnier.
They tease Onew a little sometimes but being the oldest I think they have that respect that Koreans usually show for older people. And Onew is so cute also. I think when they where new they were a little like the newer groups you mentioned. But after some years of career they began to show a lot more of their true selfs. And I think is a very charming thing of SHINe.
And totally yes, Taemin is really passionate when it comes to every detail on their music, dance and performance aspects. As well as a soloist. He's very thoughful and care about that a lot.

i think you got them down pat, especially the teasing i think it's one way that they keep each other real and humble. what's good is that they never go too far. another interesting thing is that outside of shinee taemin is mostly quiet.
Taemin was just overwhelmed to be around his brothers again after quite sometimes because they were in the military. So this was their first comeback as shinee again. He missed them loads. How is he evil, would you explain? I’ve been observing him for years now and his interactions with SHINee or other friends from the industry and I truly don’t understand where this adjective comes from… 🤔 If anything he’s witty, playful and funny and loves teasing, but he’s never spiteful or arrogant towards them. Quite the contrary, he has a very soft heart and even if he’s joking around it’s in a way not to hurt anyone’s feelings.

@@ryanostone22 Yeah, I figured it long time ago, that it’s supposed to be “funny” and “harmless”, but I find it disturbing, that such adjective is being used to describe Taemin. Especially to new people (like this reactor) and even more so that Taemin is anything BUT evil. Not everyone is familiar with Taemin and what a kindhearted and genuine person he is. And seeing his own fans describe him like that they may get the wrong idea about him.
Onew is their anchor that keeps them grounded. Yes, his validation matters the most among them.
I love shinee so much, thank you for your reaction! it seems to me that their connection is very strong, it would not be an exaggeration to say that they are like a family, because they have been together for almost 15 years, and have been through a lot! It's funny that you picked up on Taemin's presence. Other idols have said that even though he's just chilling and standing around, he exudes a very strong and mysterious aura. Might have something to do with all his accomplishments at such a young age and the potential bias that causes, but too many people have said that about him. He's also just very cute and nice.

taemin is so comfortable around the members, it really feels like he can relax when he’s with them and not be on guard
I wish you would have done a few more Shinee videos simply because I feel their dynamic isn't quite as obvious.
Like where you have the very clear 'positions/roles' in the newer groups Shinee are all veterans so they are all more secure and the dynamic is much more driven by their personalities than their jobs.
But also the leader role. I totally get how you wouldn't think someone like Onew is a fitting leader at first after all we associate assertiveness, extroversion, dominance with leadership. But with Shinee being this group of very energetic and experienced guys they need less of a 'protective dad' and more of a calm center. Onew in a sense is the beating heart of Shinee that keeps the group together in a very subtle way. He is a type of leader that's more enabler and moral center than problem solver.
There is also the tragic loss of their 5th member they went through and that... changes a groups dynamic as well.
And all of that is really really hard to see in just a few videos 😊 SO hoping we may seen some more Shinee in the future😊

Seeing you analyze SHINee just warms my heart so much. As a long-time Shawol (going on 7+ years), I feel like I've had the immense privilege to watch these men grow in so many areas of life. I was a young middle schooler when I first started liking their content, and now as a fully-grown adult, I really enjoy looking back at some of their older videos and then comparing them to their recent stuff... the growth and maturity that all 5 have been through is just simply beautiful!
I've been a Taemin and Key biased for my entire duration of being a Shawol, and I definitely think that your analysis on them is pretty spot-on. I especially appreciate you taking note of Key's mannerisms and personality, because I feel as though he can be ignored by others simply because he tends to lean more to the 'reserved' side of things (when he's not feeling it that day haha, otherwise he's CHAOS PERSONIFIED).
Many people - who are almost ALWAYS non-Shawols - like to coin Key as 'SHINee's sassy diva,' and while I can admit that he IS partly that, it breaks my heart to see this entirely incredible man and artist be boiled down to ONE single personality trait. Key is so much more than his sassy remarks; he's a talented singer/rapper, a songwriter, an amazing dancer, a wonderful actor, a MC host for various programs throughout the years, a fashion designer and icon in Korea, and he's also super smart and cunning. Key is truly the definition of a 'well-rounded artist,' because in my opion- he's got it all... and not to mention his LOOKS!!
After spending so many years loving and following SHINee, I feel as though I've gotten to know all 5 of them on an intimate level. And just like you said, Key doesn't like to fake anything. If he doesn't like something, he'll say it outright (this is one of the reasons why he's always called 'sassy'), and sometimes his forward personality can be viewed in a negative light. But I think that's what makes him all the more charming. He's not going to bullshit something if he doesn't want to, and no one's going to force him to do anything he doesn't want to do. Granted, he is a lot different from when SHINee first debuted over 13 years ago, as he was still a very young boy. But now, as a grown man, he has come into his own and discovered his unique personality.
And like you mentioned, Key likes to make digs about himself... it's a habit that he's always done since he's a perfectionist (especially when it comes to his fashion/aesthetic, which is why, if you notice in many of these interviews, Key is always fixing some part of his style... like his hair, outfit, etc.). But although he is confident today, he definitely wasn't like that when he was younger- he suffered from immense insecurities, body image issues, and even battled s*lf h*rm when he was a young man.
I've said all of this to say that I'm so incredibly PROUD of all 5 SHINee members; they've come so far, and they deserve all of their success and the love that they receive around the world. Shawols, let's continue to love our guys forever!! 💎🤍 And thank YOU for making this reaction, I get so happy when I see you analyzing one of my favorite groups! I'd highly recommend that you check out an EXO or VIXX interview, they're two groups from SHINee's same generation that are very interesting! :))
I would really love to see your reaction about JongTae(Jonghyun&Taemin) relationship! Because just like Key&Minho, their bond is really, really special.
They met each other first from all shinee members, and Jonghyun really cherished and took care of Taemin a lot. Taemin was basically his baby. (Actually, one of Jonghyun's nicknames was Taemin Mom and he really liked that nickname lol) Also he was taemin's vocal teacher. In their early days, for Taemin who was not vocally trained enough and wasn't confident about his vocal, he became Taemin's vocal teacher. You could tell that Taemin's current voice, tone, and the way of singing were all based and taught by Jonghyun, and Onew too

I saw another comment saying you should look at Key and Minho's "Tom and Jerry" relationship, and you really should. Despite being polar opposites, they feel closest to each other, maybe because of age, and maybe because they are so different. Check it out!
It's a little different since it's not an interview or scripted content, but I would love to see you analyze a certain set from one of their concerts. I think it really highlights SHINee's individual personalities and their dynamic with each other and with their fans. Their concerts are pretty legendary in the kpop community and most people agree that SHINee is better Live than they are in Studio.
The video is 'Dream girl+Runaway+Ready or not+Beautiful+321' from their SHINee World Concert 4. Even if you don't do a react video, it's still worth a personal watch!

I'm not a K-pop "stan" and I think that is similar to calling yourself a "Hollywood fan" or "American pop music fan". There are so much different aspects and people in those industries and I am in no way a fan of everything or everyone.
I personally am first and foremost a BTS fan/ARMY, but there are just some people and groups that are just so good and I like as people or keep an eye out for. Or just respect a lot.
And while some might call me more of a Taemin fan as his solo stuff appeal more to me, I have huge respect for Shinee as a group.
I am not too aware of how they work behind the scenes, but I really like them as people and I acknowledge the effect they have on the k-pop scene and the work and sincerity they have put in.
I truly believe they are the princes of K-Pop.
Similar to how I 100% believe BigBang are the kings of K-pop. Especially G-Dragon. Unlike Shinee where I really like the whole group and see them as equals, G-Dragon is truly the backbone of BigBang that carried the to stardom.
And unlike BigBang, Shinee is such a positive and united group that is still affecting the industry. They are seniors that have garnered a lot of respect for good reason too. I really like their group dynamic, its super wholesome in such a quick and witty way.
Taemin beating so excited to finally be with his group after beating alone from them for so long. I am looking forward to when he returns from the military so the group can finally be together for real. Hopefully in good condition.

If you want more raw communication videos I suggest you watch more second generation groups like SHINee, 2PM, Super Junior, Highlight etc. Groups that have been together for 14+ years
you should react to some fan made videos of groups/ people to get more of an overall grasp of their personalities. that would be fun to see

I love your thoughts on the guys. I got into Taemin first several months ago and had no idea he was in Shinee and I really didn't know that much about them. I was suurprised to learn that Minho was not the leader and it was actually Onew. Key's personality/demeanor was a complete turn off for me at first. I thought he came across as standoffish. But now after watching several of their videos I love Key! Key is the ultimate Diva lol. He is sarcastic and can be condescending but you know or at least now I know there is no meanness behind it. When they first started (2008) Taemin was 14yrs old still in school so Key actually kind of took on the nurturing/mom role with Taemin. They are all pretty protective of Taeminn because he is the Maknae (youngest) and that's kind of why he gets away with a lot of the teasing, etc the other members. He is really helping him with his English as well bc Key is quite fluent. I hope you will watch some of their videos with them in cars and Taemin practicing his English.

Taemin is my bias in Shinee, Key is bias wrecker. Shinee has some of the best vocals you’ll hear in kpop , the 2nd best vocal line after Suju tbh.
