I appreciate this review. I was at the beach and someone had a much smaller JBL style speaker but we had one with wheels. His was a little more portable but ours sounded better. I like the portable of the 110 but I think the 310 is right in the middle of everything. This sound comparison helped me narrow down my option. 310 it is and you have a subscriber now!

The biggest miss of all these speakers (imho) is you only have a mini jack input. No balanced input, XLR or RCA. Bluetooth is great for party’s when you use a phone but as soon as you want to attach a mixer you’re stuck with mini jack. I would be happy to pay a bit more to have more IO on the boxes to make it more versatile in different uses
I just bought the Encore Essential and I gotta say, that unit blows me away as far as a small package that performs way, I mean WAY above its pay grade. The overall frequency response is actually BETTER than the 110 and believe it or not, the Encore Essential actually extends lower in frequency than the 110 does as well. Does it get as loud, not quite, and it does have a bit more compression and sound shaping at higher volumes than the 110 does also. If you want the best sound quality, you drive your speaker between 0-70% volume and you don’t plan on getting a noise violation, buy the Encore Essential. You want to have a banger that the police will likely show up, or you like getting kicked out of campsites, buy the 110…yes it performs that well just on its own. I also have to add, two Encore Essentials paired in Stereo are fantastic.
Are you sure you can’t use any of these speakers with a mixer/dj decks ? Could I get an rca ~ aux cable and plug the aux end into my JBL 110 and the rca into my decks? Would there be any delay ?
wouldn't worry about delay, but running the ultimate off a 3.5mm can't be flawless. I have no issues running a friend's 110 on battery with my denon prime go, using 1/4" to 3.5mm. like meetups of a dozen people, not full on parties, but it's better than a UE BOOM.

In 2022 I purchased a 100 and three 110s. Great speakers! I then sold them all to get two 710s when they came back in stock after some supply issues that year and after seeing your review video of the 710. So worth it!! Just one 710 rattles my walls with no bass boost and even less than half volume depending on the track that I'm playing. 💥
@@joehaddoubI have a friend who works with two PB710 as a DJ, using a Pioneer set. It fills parties for 100 people very well in a closed space. Above that, she uses two JBL Eon with a 15" sub. The great thing about the 710's is the portability without needing to carry a subwoofer in comparison with the Eons with subwoofer.
for personal use the 710 would be the limit but even that one is a bit overkill. sadly it is not portable otherwise it would be the best all rounder speaker out there
@GTMCADDY I'm looking into getting a JBL Partybox 710. my question is I already own the JBL Charge 5 and so do most of my friends. When we have any get togethers we just link our Charge 5's with the button on top of the speakers. is it possible to get the 710 to Aux out with a cable to the usb port on the Charge 5 to get them to play together? so 710 Aux out to Charge 5 then the Charge 5's linked in their own mesh network? Is that a thing or am I asking too much out of the architecture of these units? Thanks in advance, Austin
@@sonny9546 all the speakers are not in the same room. For instance this is a house party. The 710 is in the Living Room with the master Charge 5. The other Charge 5s are spread out to different areas; backyard, kitchen, garage, 2nd floor den, basement rec-room. I’m not trying to crank the 710 to max. Just enough to make some bass in the main area of the party and keep the other ones to relay the highs and mids.
Someone out there must be giving bad advice to people who think they need a 710 or ultimate for their home(For 99% of normal size homes)., the bass on those things are just too much their really unpleasant.,them not knowing that even the 110 or encore is plenty enough for their needs and plus they can sync a pair and have even better sound system., they see the big monster speaker and instantly think that the small ones are underpowered 😢
Iv never had a jbl but I got two onn large party speakers Walmart version of jbl 110 with two 4in woofers and 2 tweeters like the 110 and you can connect any of the onn brand speakers together by holding the Bluetooth button and for literally fractions of the cost retail the large party speakers go for $120 each however I got mine for $60 each and bought two the will fill a room with plenty of bass and have plenty of battery
Form what i notice is the Ultimate replaces the PB 1000 the one where the whole front of the speaker was like a giant Pulse speaker with a subwoofer underneath it.

I'm all about overkill. Instead of buying these battery speakers, I'll load up my generator and powered speakers and steal the show. Camping at the lake with karaoke and dancing is my cup if tea.
The encore is the only partybox i wouldnt fancy. Also you can get a pb100 for 200$ so spending 300$ or 400$ on an encore or a 110 is asinine. The pb 100 is just as good as the 110.

So I think it can fill better any place with sound, while the 1000 can throw it in far distance. Remembering, the Ultimate has higher SPL than PB1000.
I’m not gonna lie overall, JBL has the best larger speakers on the market Samsung and Sony can’t compete the seven which is $800 normally can easily perform the Sony and Samsung 1000$ to 1200$ speakers

He did when it was relevant but now it is outdated. It’s still pretty good though just expensive for what you get. It is more expensive than the 710.

Why is XLR so important? Does the sound get worse because of higher volume/gain if using an audio jack?

This wouldn't work. Also the 710 is so overpowered in comparison to the charge 5 you won't be able to hear the charge 5 in close proximity to the 710.

Yes that's right, Ultimate is the successor to the 1000, the 1000 is no longer available from JBL, they have stopped manufacturing

Well encore has deeper but not too loud bass (mids are weak too). If encore had a larger woofer i bet it is better than ultimate
