Sharpen your scythes!! 🤘
Thanks! I told myself I wouldn’t force any songs. I was trying to think of Nurgle lyrics that weren’t just graphic for the sake of it. The line “death lords, sharpen your scythes in the crucible of war” came to me and then the whole song came together slowly but surely. A hard one for sure!
"Pale Kings, sow the stars with Grandfather's loving gifts", Mortarion said calmly This song absolutely kicks ass, and it's tempted me into starting a DG army (even though Nurgle and Slaanesh constantly battle for the position of "my least favorite Chaos god").
i just bought my first army, and i chose death guard.. FUCKING HELL MAN YOU JUST MADE MY YEAR. A song about our loving grandfather, and i can only say welcome to the rotting brotherhood man ! PAPA NURGLE WOULD TRUELY BE PROUD OF YOUR CONTRIBUTION !
Excellent music. Was not something I expect but it is amazing. Again, you and your team have done your research and it clearly shows. I pray you become far more successsful.
Thanks! One of my main goals for this project was to write really in-depth and thought out lyrics for each faction, glad to see it’s not gone unnoticed.
I can hear so much of the late great Alexi Laiho in this and it's good and that's even before the 2:31 bit :) I mean it's literally Bodom after that? Papa Nurgle pays his respects
So as far as intrumentals go, I think that this is the best one yet. I think that the only thing in disappointed at is that since it's so close to Christmas that is not about Slaanesh for Slaaneshmis. Jokes aside, loving it so far. Keep up the good work and best of luck in your endeavors.
Dayum was rly expecting this to be a dont fear the reaper ai thing.....but dayum the grandfathers manse is shakin to this tune......can we get a noise marine song next
The instrumental part of the song was written after Alexi Laiho passed away. He’s one of my biggest influences so I wanted to write a tribute to his writing style. This song is packed full of nods and references, some intentional, some not at all but listening back I can hear: The intro is a mix of (Sinergy)Nowhere for No One, Smile Pretty for the Devil, Bastards of Bodom, Follow the Reaper and Kissing the Shadows intros. The verse is a mix of Hate Me verse and Follow the Reaper Intro The chorus is a mix of Hate Me and Children of Bodom choruses The interlude has elements of Follow The Reaper, Hate Me The guitar solos are packed full of Alexi’s signature licks and style. There’s kissing the shadows style sweeps, neo-classical arpeggios like Downfall, 5 string minor sweep tap, blues licks, open string pedal point guitar/key unison licks, tremelo picking scale patterns, whammy stuff, 3 nps licks etc etc It would take a whole video to break down everything. Like I said Alexi is one of my biggest influences. I learned nearly every Bodom/Sinergy song and really dived into his writing style and scale/note choice which had a clear influence on my own writing and playing.
@@LorcanWard absolutely love it. The song sounded so familiar and yet new. I dont think there is another style that fits the death guard with like a haunting upbeat feeling.
Music and style of singing someohow reminds me of Ensiferum songs. It's great. I am blasting various WH40K inspired songs whenever i am driving somewhere. It's like Sabaton of 41st millenia 😂
@@LorcanWard LETS GO! love your work man, I really do appreciate the attention to your work and the focus on representing the characters and their struggle. Saw one of your Doom videos way back and I gotta say to see you again doing such epic stuff for one of my favorite series is awesome.
That is such an interesting instrumental. It's right in a spot between trash, power metal and synthonic metal. The beginning has a very power metal almost sabaton but creative vibe, transitioning into thrash/synthonic thrash metal to the end. The synth by the end could be replaced by violins with piano accents which would push it more into synthonic metal but I think still work in the context of the song it's great. Mind telling me your inspiration for the song? Edit: also are you songs on Amazon music?
Hi! So the main inspiration for this track is a band called Children of Bodom, it’s a tribute to the main songwriter Alexi Laiho. They were originally a mix of 80s metal, neo-classical power metal and death metal. Later incorporating more thrash elements. They had some symphonic elements but leaned more towards synth-pop/video game style synths as opposed to orchestra instruments. I guess you’d call it melodic death metal. Yep my music is on Apple Music and all other streaming sites.
@@LorcanWard I am not to big into death and black, but I am a fan of synthonic thrash, so if the children of bloom is similar what inspired you I might just have to check them out and maybe melodic death metal as a whole. Thack you and any recommendations?
Scythes of the Emperor are a chapter, apparently. They even have a book. Why haven't I heard of them? Anyway, I googled "Scythe of the Reaper" and they were one of the results. Seems like an interesting chapter. Glorious song, too! 14.3/10!
I might do some loyalist songs for the Chaos chapters in the future. My World Eaters song has a throwback line to their pre-angron name the War Hounds. I'd be more inclined to do a song on Isstvan with their loyalists from the four chapters. Lots of ideas.
@LorcanWard the death of the loyalist world eaters was and interesting chapter especially when angron gave final words to the last one before killing them
WOW!!! THAT'S REALLY COOL! I like it! But i think it has to be death metal and not a melodic one, definitely not a power metal.. Anyway, i'm waiting for World Eaters!
Originally I planned to have a death metal song but the more I thought about Nurgle and how content they are in their devotion the idea for a melodic happier sounding song started to grow. That and the COB crossover with the reaper. World Eaters song coming soon 💪🏻
I think you need to be a fan of Children of Bodom and the late Alexi Laiho to understand the musical connection on this one. Lyrically it mostly draws inspiration from the Lords of Silence book which is the best depiction of Nurgle imo. So fusing the two with the subversive idea that Nurgle followers would be content if not overjoyed in their zealousness, hearing major sounding melodeath. The song makes a lot more sense when you understand these three things.

I thought creating a song about the grandfather's chosen would not be an easy task, but as a Death Guard player, I love this

"The Reapers scythe I fall upon to light my path"
Alexi and Mortarion shredding in the warp!

Now that would be a cool piece of artwork!
I feared you won't be able to surpass Unbreakable as it is really a sick banger but this hits soooooooooo good, love it
Thanks! I knew Unbreakable would be a strong leader so I’m glad to hear that some people like these recent ones even more 🤘🏻
He just doesn't miss, does he?
HE DON'T MISS
Thanks 🤘🏻

Good to hear! I'm hoping one day they find a B-side or unreleased recording Alexi did.
Bought it early on iTunes
But waited to hear it hear for the views
Praise papa Nurgle

Actually, It'd most likely be a bit quieter to encompass the XIII style.
Night Lords song coming soon. It's a little similar to this in places.
A wild reaper appear ! Nice one
