Iron Within, Iron Without!!! 🤘 *Let's set the stage on this one so the lyrics have more context:* Short Version - Iron Warriors raid a forge world using Mortal Engines sized traction cities fused with Demon engines and DAOT weaponry. They're angry and see the Mechanicus as insects beneath them. The POV is from the Warsmith as he marches up and down the control deck delivering messages into the Noosphere. Long Version - Cadia has fallen and the galaxy is split in two leaving Imperium Nihilus wide open to attack. The Iron Warriors have set their site on a Mechanicus Forge World. A long coveted world with an extensive STC database. They have annihilated the fleets and orbital defences to make way for a full ground invasion. Here is where the song starts. *Intro* Imagine the sky full of drop pods, thunderhawks and orbital lifters heading for the surface, sirens are being razed across the planet. I've always loved the scene in the film "Crossroads" about mimicking the sound of a train so that's where the idea for the main riff came from. Only instead of a train imagine the traction cities from Mortal Engines(If you've read Forges of Mars you will have come across this already in 40K). This is where the POV of our song is from an Iron Warriors Warsmith. This is a very angry song and I really tried to get that to come across in the lyrics, how they look down on the Adeptus Mechanicus as insects who don't even understand their technology. I could write pages about the lyrics in this song but I'll try to keep it short. *Verse 1* is our Warsmith breaking into the noosphere to deliver a message planet wide. This is a warrior who fought in the Great Crusade and countless conflicts since. The song title "Heretek" is an insult against him, as is the line "Fallen One" but he disagrees to say the least. The "Nothing for the crows" line was inspired by GOT "A feast for crows" but is also an insult against the loyalist Marines who will come to late to help. *Chorus* Forged = Past, Eyes = Present, Sight = Future. I wanted to create my own litany instead of using the existing one. *Verse 2* Now that our setting, legion and character is established Verse 2 is where I get to have more fun and creativity. In this verse the Titan Legions have come out to greet the invaders. Our warsmith looks in them with utter contempt, ready to show them the power of chaos. *Interlude* The Titan legions are within range, our traction cities power up their weapons and unleash an apocalyptic volley at them. With the legio a smouldering wreckage the Iron Warriors move on to break the city walls. *Verse 3* They've taken the city. Our Warsmith couldn't hold in his anger and has to deliver another speech. In my songs I often hide homophones, "Mettle" is a good example of this that I couldn't help but throw in. So that should ad a lot context to the song. For me this is what Warhammer is all about. Home-brew chapters and characters in various scenarios. It's what has built the setting up over the years. Musically this song is inspired by Slipknot, Rammstein, Fear Factory and Mick Gordon. It leans into Nu-Metal so you can hear some Static-X and Korn influence in places too. I had so much fun writing the lyrics for this song and Tom delivered an incredible vocal performance.

The princeps line brought back a memory of the book Iron Within, Iron Without where one if the higher ranked Iron Warriors is making it his mission to take out a Wolfhound scout, even though they are only in terminator armor if memory serves.
Ah, yes. Forrix, former first captain and member of Perturabos inner circle during the heresy. (SPOILER ALERT!) in Storm of Iron he managed to take the Warhound titan down alone, by slamming his powerfist into its anklejoint until it broke and then tearing open the cockpit and gunning its crew down with his bolter.. sadly he didnt notice the 2nd Warhound, and well.. even Terminator plate does little against a titans turbolaser :/ still a good book though and hes honestly one of, if not the best character of the IVth
@@anirudhashok3332 indeed, he got grievously wounded in a previous engagement during the siege of Hydra Cordatus' main Citadel. Warsmith Falk (at this point only calling himself 'The Warsmith') was at the brink of his ascension to daemonhood and needed him to help brake open the fortress, so he threatened his own personal chirumeks and apothecaries that if they cant fix him, they die as well. honestly, i highly recommend anyone thats interested in the Iron Warriors to read Storm of Iron as its a well written book and (SPOILER) iirc the first book where the forces of Chaos actually won.
Warhammer 40k has so much untapped potential in terms of content that is insane, and you good sir are proving it with every song. Another banger of a song.

Not gonna lie, I've listened to a good bit of metal, and this one song scratches an itch that's been long in need of relief. Between the utterly oppressive blast beats, sounding like goddamn Gatling cannons launching their volleys, and Tom Emmans truly *psychotic* levels of rage... it's VERY cathartic. Very rarely do I get someone who does vocals that genuinely sound like something's snapped in 'em, round of applause to everyone involved in this masterpiece.

In sharp contrast to the energetic, determined tone of The Iron Hands song, The Iron Warriors are seathing, uncompromising, but also painfully tired and in anguish. The lyrics make statements, but they're also very reflective words about the singers relationship to their target, as if they see a mirror held up to themself by who they are singing to: Someone they could be or could have been, and hyper-fixating on all the differences.
Great interpretation! Glad to see people really analysing the lyrics and themes. I put so much more into the lyrics so delighted to see someone really understanding what I was going for. Looking forward to hearing what you think of future songs.

If it's metal core that's such an interesting idea and I would love to know why you choose metalcore for the Ironworriors. Also another great song showing what happens when someone with two passions blends them perfectly.
Thanks! The genre could be classified as Industrial Metal. Heavy but simple guitar riffs that supply the rhythm section, lots of synths accompanying or playing lead lines and effects, big emphasis on dynamic vocals. It paved the way for nu-metal. Inspired by Rammstein, Slipknot, Fear Factory, Static-X, Korn etc and a bit of Mick Gordon(Doom) and Gojira influence on the guitar riffs. As Viking metal suits the Space Wolves, industrial metal felt right for the Iron Warriors.
In the future when there will ba album with songs for all legions we need song about 2nd and 11th legions that will be just static noise for 3 minutes with (Redacted) on the screan :D
Ha I’ve been thinking how I will approach that. “Redacted” on a physical CD release would work but not sure for digital. static sounds like a good idea
What kind of amp (or plugin) are you using for your guitar? The sound is really good but I think the compression comes on too strong, especially for the chugging sections. Other than that, this is pretty cool! Haven't seen Warhammer metal since Bolt Thrower.
Thanks! I'm running through a 6505 head with a Marshall cab on one side and Mesa cab on the other. SM57s + Overdrive so typical modern metal tone. We tried a lot of different combinations but always came back to the tried and tested rig.
@@LorcanWard Thanks for the reply! Yeah, that's a pretty good setup. I really liked the tone for your track "Sojourn", as well - the tone sounds similar, but it has a bit more 'rawness' to it, kind of like a more modern Trivium or similar metalcore band. Keep up the riffs!
@@cerberusXII What's interesting is I use the same guitar and setup for Sojourn, the one difference is I tuned to Drop C for this track and Sojourn is in D standard. There is a noticeable difference between the two. It must be just how I was playing on the day and the input settings on my audio interface.

I don’t know why but I feel like metal just fits heretics better than loyalist.
I think heavier styles fit them more. Wether it's industrial, black, death etc it all works so well where as power or 80s might be a bit to tame.
I am now an iron warriors fan.
Nice!
Seems like a spiritual sibling of Forward! by Anaal Nathrakh
I've never actually listened to them. I'll check out that song tomorrow.
Day 5 of asking for custodies song
Hello sir, can you please help me to find the name of the song on the video "Jaska's Evening at Lake Bodom" where you leave your comment. Thank you!!
I presume it's Downfall. Last track on Hatebreeder.
@@LorcanWard than you sir! I appreciate it!
Or I use my own head canon stories of the missing Primarchs to write songs 🤔
Please Please for the love of all that is Holy Make a Heavy Metal WarHammer 40k Ork Song 🎶!!! 🤘😩🙏
Just the one Ork song? : )
@@LorcanWard DO YOU ALREADY HAVE ONE ? 😃and make lots of them or as many as you can 😄!!! 🤘SHOOTAS, BLOOD AND TEEF 😤
IDC what anyone says The Iron Warriors are still better than The Imperial Fists.
Do remake, without that "phone effect" please 🥺
it sounds like Slipknot
Tom the singer really nailed the Corey Taylor sound I wanted.
