What a shame really. I was going to buy this day one as I was a huge mark in the early 00's and have watch a lot of late 80's and 90's wrestling as a adult. I will pick it up when it is on sale as I do love the idea of a clueless MC that really believes that wrestling is real and another MC team that is just a jobber but wants more. This may not have been cream of the crop, but it sounds like solid midcard game.
The game is fine if this is your thing. What sucks is that they delayed it over some bug that would only affect the Steam Deck. Early August was a dead period, especially for Switch so they will lose a lot of sales that would have been a stop-gap purchase. I assume they will lose 50-60% of sales if they would have released it on time, 2 weeks earlier. A lot of lost sales for a bug that MAY effect only Steam Deck\PC switching back and forth. Switch was dead then you have regular PC, PS4 and 5, Xbox etc. Too bad as I think they lost a lot of money.
There are over 100 positive steam reviews but with under 2 hours of game time... Some are even below 0.2 hours... It seems like they are paying/paying for the game for people to leave positive reviews. I played the game for a few hours and understand why. I would be very cautious about purchasing games from this company in the future...
I can't wait to play this. I saw this first at PAX Seattle and there was a cosplayer for the game going aruond giving away pins and being BEEF af. 'Wrestling is real MC' is a brilliant story and I want to see where they take it.
The game isn't bad at all as I really like it. This was probably going to be a niche anyway. I enjoyed that era of wrestling so nostalgia is a factor in adding a few points. It's something different as it's not a button masher. I have 7 and a half hours into it and probably have more if I didn't have to worry about battery life. I don't do RPGs and don't really like them, so it's something totally fresh and different for me. It's probably not a game for serious RPGs to begin with, and it won't scratch an itch for those that don't love that era, so it's niche like I said. The difficulty is fine for me as I'm not a RPGer. It's clunky but it exist. Not bored at all after 7 hours which most games don't get even that. For what it is... 75 to 85 rating. If any lower, it's not for you.
Being a fan back in the Superstars/Wrestlefest era, I was hoping this would be better. Sounds like I might have to wait to see if it gets a physical console release and maybe go the "Play with a friend and riff on it" method.
What the freak, their toys? They shouldn’t be having all that dialogue if you press a toy try me button and it has a full conversation with you then that clearly is broken
I agree, it lends itself more towards real time action, or at minimum even some sort of rock-paper-scissors approach with a momentum system to emulate how control of a match can go back and forth.
Who wants to play a lame RPG turn-based wrestling game? We want to play a game that is fun and arcady where you can do your favorite moves as your favorite wrestlers...
No he’s definitely not. Everyone has said mostly the same exact things. It’s very mediocre and repetitive. Mechanics are frustrating and voice acting gets annoying. Literally same things most say. Highest I’ve seen it get is a 6 and I’ve seen some 4’s as well.
Sadly, after 10 hours played on this highly anticipated title, this fellow die hard pro wrestling fan felt the exact same way.
Is it worth getting at least?
@@deathclutch8681 Play Nobody saves the world instead . I felt pretty similar while playing but Nstw is better.
The incorporation of wrestling lingo into the script of this review was appreciated! 😂
I too liked this, I was entertained by this review of a bad game that I wish had been good

The numbers don't lie, and they spell disaster for you at WrestleQuest! 😂
They didn´t add Kurt Angle to the mix.

I GOT YOU FOR 3 MINUTES.....3 MINUTES OF REVIEW TIME~
🤣🤣🤣 Nice!

I've played for over 7 hours already and like it.
I knew it would be bad because of how hard Conrad Thompson is pushing it. Everything has promotes this heavily sucks.
Well turkey tits is in it so yeah he would advertise it
When I heard Dave Meltzer was a playable character in this game, I dismissed it from my concerns. It doesn’t even look HORRIBLE, but $30?!

Bummer it isn't a bit better, but if it gets a physical release I'll probably pick it up based on its charm and novelty alone.

This is literally nothing like that
so from what I gather its meiocre and good if its on sale. a $10 or less buy
Shame it isn't that fun
Well that's a shame.
this game was made for me

this does look a little 'RPG maker-Ifield!'.
It seems to me that a turn based battle system is basically antithetical to the vibe of pro wrestling.

considering they tell each what they're going to do before doing it. it makes sense to be turned based

You still release the review, even if the game is delayed ? 😂
The delay was so last minute the review was probably already scheduled
And also probably better to release it early so potential day-oners know what’s coming.
The delay is only due to a bug corrupting/deleting game saves. They aren't doing anything else.
What’s funny about that? Moronic comment
Am I the only one who managed to download on the day of release for Nintendo Switch? Gotta be more of us out there 😂
You are in the minority so far everywhere else has given it great reviews
Then try it for yourself when it comes out! A review is just an opinion.
it's at a 73 on OpenCritic, so no not everyone has given it great reviews.
