If Blizzard is ever going to do a vanilla+ thing, they should hire this guy to expand the storytelling and let him cook. All of these stories being different from one another, but all of them are still connected to the Old Gods. Kinda like defiant storyline having connections through Elywym, Westfall Redridge and Duskwood. Those are my favorite parts of vanilla. Reminds me a lot of RuneScape’s way of storytelling.

This must be crazy from the perspective of the player character. This tauren tells them that this earthen is the last and he is a danger to the whole area. Then some time alter they walk into Uldaman.
Yeah, across all expansions you will slay hundreds of thousands of earthen and none of them is that dangerous.

I like your explanation, but a possible alternative is this. Elementals and titan constructs are known to be adversaries, with the constructs trying to imprison and control the other. It’s possible as a shaman who may be sympathetic to the elementals’ side he would see the earthen truly as a threat to the elementals of the area. Not only that but tensions between dwarves and Tauren in classic reflect this divergence in perspective on the earth, with dwarves seeking to shape the earth and the Tauren trying yo maintain it as it is.
I love that point! I was planning on having something like that make it into the video but couldn't figure out how to word it correctly... excellent approach! :D
This definitely makes me want to do these quests again in Stonetalon and Arathi. I didnt read the quests much back in the day, but Im trying to read them more mindfully now. So cool to really ponder the deeper meanings of quests like this
It's very fun to go back and look at the deeper lore of these places :)
I have played Alliance since vanilla, I knew nothing about this storyline or of any earthen in Stonetalon. Thanks for teaching me something today!

@@qwopiretyu not joking at all, loyal to the Alliance exclusively for all this time since 04. First toon ever was undead, didn't make it to lvl 11. Highest lvl horde ever in my life is 35.
I learn about the Horde perspective from fine folks like Jediwarlock or Nobbel.

I think it is plausible to assume that there is a connection between the Titans and the Stonetalon Caverns of WC3. It would have been great to have in Uldaman-type dungeon starting in Stonetalon Peak. Such a shame that Blizzard decided to drop all that area from WoW!

especially after watching the maraudon theorycraft, i think its pretty unmistakeable that the purple crystals are a reference to mara and the earthen history there. it could be that grogg was corrupted or even that the tauren had a lasting affinity for the earth elemental 'earth mother' so he didnt want an earthen there to imprison princess theradras. anyway i love that you drew that parallel with the kobolds and rock giants, another mara parallel too. personally i think kobolds just love anything rock related. anyway loving your lore dissection content. love the vod where u covered desolace and the twin collosals bc thats something ive always found so mysterious. (the mystery is what draws us into the game). also as a horse player since like 2006 i can say that that stonetalon quest is an absolute easter egg, ive still never done that quest to this day, playing before maps and questie it was so hard to find. shard of myzrael as well.

I guess the main reason the shaman considered the earthen a threat was cuz the shaman would loose his elemental powers if he didn't put an end to the Titan forged

Does the model of Goggeroc is used somewhere else on Vanilla, TBC or WOTLK?
He shares a model with some of the Earthen keepers inside Uldaman (there is a white/marble model and a darker model). :) In WotLK when they included some more Earthen in the Storm Peaks, those are a different model!

So all of this is basically no longer canon in retail.
Yeah, I prefer just looking at Classic or WotLK lore, but I hope the story in TWW with the earthen ends up being good!
Is this the only earthen in retail who uses this charecter model with the gems? If so this would be quite the revelation considering the earthen in TWW
For me WoW ends with WotLK.
This video is further proof that there is so fucking much potential for a true Classic+ experience. Please Blizzard. Expanding story lines like this in Classic style is what we crave 😩

Yeah there are! I was approaching this vid specifically from the Classic view, but in future expansions there are def more (and even more in the War Within I believe!)
