Hi, I have enjoyed the expiration of how to make the urn step by step, I congratulate you on the result and I will take your video as a guide to make a similar one for a Great Friend I lost to COVID-19. Congratulations
Glad it was helpful, Julio! I'm sorry to hear about your friend's passing. I hope you enjoy making the urn. Thank you for watching!

Gord - I enjoy your very deliberate and methodical process. In the end it was safe and very accurate and the look good. This is similar to a box that I will be making for my family soon for the same purpose. Thanks for sharing.
My pleasure, William. I’m glad you liked it. Best of luck with your box. Thanks for watching!
Hello Gord , My condolences to your daughter and her friends family. A superb job Gord .

Great job Gord. I’m sure it was a sad job as well. Your talents are so amazing and the way you explain everything surely helps me to understand certain aspects of woodworking. Thanks.
Thank you, Danny. It's not something I ever want to build but someone has to do it and if I don't do it for family or friends it would make me the kind of person I don't want to be. You have to be there for them! Thanks for watching, Danny!
Take care,
.....Gord
So sad, Nicely done tribute pieces, Gord.
Billy
Thank you very much, Billy!

Beautiful Urns Gord! Thanks for sharing and all the explaining as you went. I build urns quite often and enjoy it for the turning but at the same time am saddened for the reason I'm building them. My Condolences!
Thank you, David. Yes, I agree, it's a very somber feeling when you have to do them. Especially if it's for a friend or family member. Thank you for watching, David.
Take care,
.....Gord
Nicely done Gord.
Thank you, Gil.
Sorry for your families loss, my brother and I made our Dads urn in 07, the saddest thing I ever made, I still have to make my mums urn so that she can rest with Dad.
Take care
Rob
That's a tough one to have to build, Rob. I built my Dad's in 2005 and my mom's at the same time. Luckily, she still hasn't had to make use of it!
Take care,
.....Gord
Very nice Gord. My condolences to yours and your friend’s family. I’m sure these weren’t easy to make, but I’m certain they will be cherished. Take care. - Jay
Thank you, Jay. Your kind words are appreciated.
Take care,

Hi Gord, I make a lot of urns and it is always particularly tough when it is some pone close to you. On the upside it always warms my heart when I see the closure that a simple yet elegant piece of work provides for those affected. No jokes today, my condolences to your daughter and this young lady’s family. Great job as usual Gordie.
Thanks Dan! I appreciate that.

Donald MacKay ;
Solemn, but nice project. Makes you think when the one called home is younger than you. Condolences to the family and friends for your loss.
Especially to the mother, one should never have to outlast their child.
Well said, Thomas! Thank you very much.
Take care,
.....Gord
Thank you
You’re welcome, Albert. Thanks for watching!
I’m going to do an Urn similar to your’s but different
I’ll use stainless steel & have it etched with the name & dates
1 for my wife & 1 for my sister. Wife, I’ll use blue spruce, & sister, ash & walnut.
Sister is still living, wife died in 2010, won’t be easy but I’ll do it.
Thank you Sir. I appreciate your help
I’m sorry for your loss. No matter how recent or how distant in the past it’s still going to always be there. I wish you luck with this.
All the best,
…..Gord
Thanks Gord.
You're very welcome, Gary. Thank you!!
Take care,
.....Gord
Thanks Gord! This is, unfortunately, good timing as I suddenly find myself in the position of having to make an urn as well.
I'm sorry to hear that, Trent. It's not a project we look forward to but something that has to be done. I'm sorry for your loss!
All the best,
.....Gord
It is hard to say anything in situations like this, but well done Gord.

Thank you very much, Julius. I appreciate that!

Nice work on both casks and nice hinges ,but why not dowels ? it's not like these type of things get opened on a regular basis .
I just built them like they asked me to build them. I think it’s the first time I’ve used hinges on urns. Thanks for watching, William!

what kind of blade do i use
I don’t know. I use a Freud Fusion blade.
Question, why did you cut 10" board then cut 8" board?why not cut both 10" boards at same setup then your 8". Just wondering if you had a specific reason. Thanks
That was 19 months ago, Dan, so I can’t recall exactly. I assume it was so the grain travelled around the box and only on the last corner did not match up. As I said, I’m just assuming because I really don’t remember. Also, I must admit that I’m not going to sit and watch the whole thing again. 😱😱
Thanks for watching, Dan!
