They pitched Transformers to the studio, and the executives decided they werent interested in the project. As soon as the Transformers pitch-guys left, the CEO said "you know, i just got a GREAT idea! What if there were teenagers who could transform into cars?". Everyone in the boardroom clapped and approved of the elderly CEOs idea, and they got to work on it. So the animators initally were really into the idea, but they needed things clarified; "so how do the kids actually transform into the cars? What triggers this transformation, and are they able to control it? What about fuel, what if they run out of gasoline, or what if the teen gets hungry, what happens then?" The CEO and higher ups didnt think these things through and honestly didnt care, they left it up to the animation staff, and nobody really knew what to do. The thing was, they couldnt use any of the ideas that were pitched in the Transformers pitch, like how they mechanically are able to change shape. So thats why everything in Turbo Teen looks horrifying body horror. It was an elderly rich mans cheap rip-off of Transformers.
