Thanks Karen. I hope you had a great Christmas and a chance to relax. Yeah for sure the prep work is everything. Spoiler alert, I managed to get the roof straight yesterday. Pretty jazzed about it. One of the comments told me to not strip it back but to just use fine fill over the whole thing and block it back. I did that and was successful. Gotta love the comments!!! 🍻
As harsh as it is you are doing it right ! You have put in so much hard work and to ignore it now would for ever bug you …. Great job as always Darren thanks for sharing the journey and all the ups and downs that come with a big resto ! Excited for the new year and see this beautiful car come back to life
Appreciate your support mate, I really appreciate it! It feels like a rollercoaster but can definitely see the progress when I look back on old photos and videos.
Merry Christmas Daz. Like you said if you leave it when you know about it, it'll haunt you EVERYTIME you see it. And yep you're spot on.... big projects, particularly olf vehicles that have seen plenty of use in their previous life inevitably have battle wounds and scars that you don't want reminders of when doing a schmick rebuild. I know sanding back is a bitch,.... well it's one of my least favourite jobs, but the more effort to get it smooth means a better looking product at the end. Enjoy your Christmas mate, hopefully get a bit of ski time on the lake and come back to it when you're ready.
Thanks David. Was actually out on the jetski today and ripping along. Was a top day and great to unwind after the madness of Christmas Day. I’ll be back into the hardtop from tomorrow though. Thanks heaps for the support and encouragement. The community here is amazing and not something I ever expected when I decided to document this build on RUclips. Thanks heaps. I hope you enjoy the festive season. Cheers. 🍻
Merry Xmas mate you're getting there music in background sounds like Duct tape Duct tape grab the duct tape Lol Has a NF Fairlane Ghia hail damage to roof put skin coat of filler on whole roof wide filler applicator in your case as you say drivers' side to rear pillar repair using a wide block to block back to find highs and lows then epoxy primer sealer etc guide coat filler high build primer etc Make your own Panel stands pick up some free wooden pine pallets left on nature strips cut them up and knock them up free could even join 2 and put hinges on top so they fold up with rope through the legs and a connecting board from each end

Thanks for the advice on making panel stands. That’s a great idea!
Merry Xmas

Sweet as. Thanks for that
Don't take that back for filler just scuff with 120 or 180 and use fine fill, it'll be fine
Oh really!!
Any particular fine fill I should try? I’ve never used it before.
