She needs to make a visit to Calera, Alabama at the Heart of Dixie Railroad Museum. Since I was a kid I always wanted to see this beautiful man made machine in motion.
This sure must of been fun, not to mention seeing 611 pulling 4 silver passenger cars and standing side by side with a southern steam engine and a southern f unit
It isn't the same whistle that was used in the 90's. It belonged to Preston Claytor. He took the whistle with him when he resigned from the program over a trademark dispute.
@@mayormccheeze5951 It wasn't a trademark dispute that caused Preston to resign from the Fire Up 611 group and take his whistle with him, it was the Spirit of Roanoke moniker being painted onto the cab sides underneath the windows that he decided to take issue with because "the N&W never named its locomotives." Petty purism if you ask me. N&W didn't run any of its locomotives with 26L brakes, MU systems, dual beam headlights, sealed roller bearings, or any J's without their top cylinder head covers, and yet you don't hear anybody griping over those unoriginal modifications that the 611 has run with in the preservation era. But oh no, God forbid somebody put a name on the engine that was given to it as a way of showing honor to the city the engine was built in and the people of that city. Oh we can't be showing honor to the engine's birthplace at all, oh no no no.

Awesome video! I like how you caught them doing some switching I guess, with some VRE Gallery cars!
Thanks! I threw that in because I really like the shot with 2601.

Actually, it is in North Carolina and is heading to Pennsylvania soon
My plan is set into motion
Did the j class really do that?
The Js did pull the Tennessean. There are photos from the 40s and 50s with proof
611 was couple on to her train.
The whistle doesn't sound as good as it did in the 90s
I agree
