    Being able to hear 611’s characteristic chug is cool enough already, but when it’s immediately followed by the whine of 3 high hoods in full dynamic braking, it’s a true thing of beauty. Thanks for the excellent video!

    Brings back sweet memories of my tenure at the steam department back in the 80s and 90s. In memory of Bill Purdie,Jr and Doug Karhan, the two finest bosses I have ever worked with.

    I was this train excursion on October 23 1994 when I was 14 this day was very awesome this video brings me back when I was 14 to this day this trip will always be awesome to me

    I chase 611 from Melrose junction all the way to Asheville. I remember seeing the black roses on the side of the cab. Saluda grade is a sad shape. The rails need to restore on the line.

    Sad that Melrose is now completely unrecognizable with trees and brush covering the whole area.
