In my opinion, I would recommend keeping the factory wheels and the whitewalls on the Cadillac. It's a very nice car. In my opinion, keeping it factory would be the best way to have it.

As a car enthusiast all my life and a life long Caddy lover, especially the older ones, I love originality, definitely keep the OEM wheels, and put some white wall tires on her. The older Cadillacs look better with white wall tires. The only ones that looks ok with black walls are the sport trim models, but a classic Fleetwood, no big goofy rims, it takes away the character of the model.

Dexcool caused quite a bit of problems when it first came out as the engines/gaskets weren't made for it, which is why everyone switched to green and it wasn't a huge deal.. but over the years, the formula was changed, and engines/gaskets have been upgraded as well and now most newer(04-05) GM vehicles it's almost imperative to use Dexcool. Personally, I'd flush it, put green in it, and call it a day. Also, I vote for keeping the stock wheels with the white wall tires. Keeping that big profile tire will help keep that legendary big cadillac ride

I bought a 1995 Ford Ranger and found out afterwards that the heater didn't work at all. Found the heater core 100% clogged. tried hooking the garden hose to it at max and not one drop would flow through. I poured pure radiator flush into the heater hoses and left that i. there for a few weeks, then flushed it again. it cleared out and worked great ever since with no leaks.

Randy back in the day my 79 Coupe deVille ran like Florida in August when I lived back North in Pennsylvania. I had that Prestone T hook up for the 5/8 line if I remember correctly and every 6 months I would drain the system and hook up the water hose to that T. I would idle the car for about an hour with the cold water running throughout my engine and water pump and heater core and also the water jackets for the engine block. What a difference of course I was turning wrenches full time and actually enjoyed working on my car after work at work. I had replaced the radiator water pump heater core after I bought the car because it looked like what you have to deal with now. That car ran so silky smooth you could put a wine glass on the air cleaner at idle. Sure do miss that old girl she ran awesome. Great Video Thank You 🙏!!

You might want to keep that Cadillac indoors if it's going to get below freezing because with just water you might crack the block or something else with no antifreeze in there there's kind of risky especially the temperature in Oklahoma lately I'm here in Lawton and I know it's been nippy.

I'm sure the bigger tires help its ride stay soft and whitewalls look awesome on them. Dont even have to be vogues. But i would try for at least one inch whitewalls. Just my opinion. Wheels leave or if a newer caddy has the same bolt pattern with a larger diameter go that route.

As far as wheels go, only replace them if your keeping the car for a long time. I’ve never got my money back out of custom wheels when selling. The future buyer may have a different idea of what wheels are cool. 😎

Just a thought, I wonder how a many times you "threw" 🤔 refrigerant in your home refrigerator? If I'm right, NEVER, right? Cars on the other hand have neoprene gaskets and tend to let gas out of the system if the car defroster oŕ a/c is not run for at least 5 minutes a month to keep the seals from leaking! Now you also mentioned the car sat for 12 years 🙄 ouch. Also cars do not eat refrigeran its called a "leak" in your system. You got to find the leak n fix the leak.
PS. Get some ivory liquid soap n put some on all your a/c conceptions n when u see bubbles emerging tighten then down. Keep doing th we m all. I'm glad I found your channel n yes I love those body on frame caddilacts especially wi t h the LT 1 engine. Take care.

good old gm dex kill lol they really did not get the dex-cool right till much later in it life and you still have to say on-top of it change it every 5 years or it gets nasty. on the early dex-cool vehicles i go back with a good universal green or yellow coolant which ever i can get but i always make sure before because the system is always very dirty that it’s clean because there’s a reason i call it dex kill and it earned that name because of those pellets, you mentioned and blocked coolant passages, causing severe overheating in some cases without knowledge causing damage to the engine in some cases so it’s important you clean that system really well to get it out what you’re seeing is not just rust. It’s a mixture of rust and the broken down parts of the dex cool itself probably a mix of coolant like you said it’s really bad stuff and they didn’t get it right till the 2000s so it’s good you’re doing this but make sure you get it clean super clean water it takes forever because the sludge that builds up anyway if you’re going to keep the car i have had really good luck and no problems with any coolant the oem dexcool is fine as long as you change it on the service intervals, which I believe is 50,000 miles or five years i personally use the yellow coolant when i can but my 2003 suburban is still running dexcool i would use yellow it’s cheaper

check the interior for a leak, i've seen heater cores let go after a flush since the clog was blocking the leak (happens with welsh plugs aswel)

Don't put that flush into the system! In an older system like that the flush could "eat holes" in the weakened metal of the heater core and radiator. You've flushed it long enough with clean water at this point. Since you flushed the system, it doesn't matter if you use dexcool or universal antifreeze. Just don't mix dexcool with anything else if you decide to go the dexcool route. If you do use regular antifreeze (Ethelene Glycol) make sure you make a note on the overflow tank with a sharpie to prevent someone from accidentally mixing in dexcool in the future.

Keep the stock wheels and put some good quality white wall tires (Not necessarily Vogue) but quality tires to compliment the Cadillac ride, don't SMURFING it up with hoopty wheels and making ride like a dump truck (Normal sized side walls create a comfortable ride) The car deserves to be cared for not dressed up for Halloween.

What are you doing with the antifreeze water mixture ?
I hope that you are properly disposing of it since it's is very toxic.

I am curious how much it would be to rechrome the rims instead of new rims.

Same chassis as the Buick Roadmaster my moms 96 wagon had the identical engine bay, dashboard and motor good old LT-1. Watch all of your trans lines had to replace every line twice in 150,000 miles same with all the oil lines !

Keep the original wheels and out white walls on it. Don’t mess it up with 20’s and it will also compromise the ride. You should keep it!

Ditch the cheap Walmart a/c recharge kit. You own enough R134 era cars that it's worth the few bucks to buy a set of manifold gauges. Then you can monitor high and low pressure and properly add refrigerant. Adding too much, like you probably just did, is almost as bad as not having enough.

Have you never watched me vacuum a system and recharge it? I have gauges, and a vacuum pump. No harm was done here. Worked GREAT!

@@AutoAuctionRebuilds awesome. Admittedly, I haven't. I've been watching for a few years but (to answer your question elsewhere) I tend to focus more on your walkaround vids. Keep up the good work, Randy!

Randy; remove the dirty expansion bottle, put in a handful of small pebbles and shake it for a bit,”sandblast the interior “; that will clean it up some.
