My GOODNESS that was interesting! , I grew up with Nantucket. My cousins went to Nantucket Island high school and graduated of course. And we just took it for granted when we visited them. Auntie was there as a widow and we went occasionally but I never really had an explanation of any of it in this depth. I took it for granted. My aunt did not but I did
thank you (I am now 81 years old)

I was just reading Moby Dick when I came across this exhortation: “Nantucket! Take out your map and look at it. See what a real corner of the world it occupies . . .” Well, I went to Google maps and images, and eventually drifted into the interesting harbor of your informative video. Very cheerfully and nicely done! Thank you. Your tour gave real life to Melville’s portrait of this picturesque and historic town - so much more significant in American history than I realized.
P.S., After I’ve read a couple of more chapters, I look forward to visiting the whaling museum you mentioned.

I found your video bc I’m reading a fiction Christmas novel and was intrigued by it. Nantucket is gorgeous! I’m from Maui, HI. And we had our own whaling village called Lahaina. As you may know now, the town was tragically lost via a horrific fire this past year. Thanks for sharing this wonderful and beautiful place of Nantucket. It is a stunning place filled with rich and fascinating history. Aloha!

“Bought by a family called Beinecke”? THE Beinecke Family? Who donated the rare book and manuscript library to Yale?
I used to live in a renovated carriage house on West 20th St. between Eighth and Ninth Avenues in NYC across the street from the home of Clark Clement Moore, author of ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas.
The carriage house wasn’t visible from the street. One would walk through a small apartment building and across a cobblestoned courtyard. I had a cat that would crawl down a tree that was next to my window and into the window of the apartment below where one of the Beinecke sons lived.

I went to Nantucket for the first time over the summer not too long ago to do research as my school had a base there. When I tell you everything looks it’s straight out of a movie. It has this whimsical charm to it. The flower petals fall in the street, the local shops are cute, the houses are unique but at the same time traditional and unified…I felt like I was an extra for Hallmark.😭🥹very beautiful indeed.

Well done video, how did they get the aerial shots? Spliced together i guess. What’s great too is the lighting. Nice bright crisp snd clean. The two white homes on Main Street are not painted the same color white. One is white-white, the other is more of an ivory like buttercream frosting, and the one next to it is like Pillsbury ready to spread white frosting. Were they always two different whites, or was the buttercream one a recent mistake on someone’s (the paint color chooser’s) part? So much information here. Very interesting snf ive been coming here for about 60 years. Im here now.

Clearly some revisionist history here. I was a resident on Nantucket from 1975 - 1979, before the island was completely 'sold out' to Jamaican cab drivers and New York City snobby tourists. Before Starbuck's was a thing. We never heard the name Starbuck. I particularly love the multiple references to Abolitionists - Massachusetts was The biggest slave state next to New York - that's where the post whaling big $$ really was. The slave trade. If one ignores all the Social Justice Warrior libtard revisionism, The Gray Lady of the Sea is a wonderful place to bucket list destinations most have scantly even heard of. Stay at Surfside Beach Youth Hostile (Hi Nantucket) for about $35.00/night or Downtown for about $2.000.00.
