    I have owned and tested probably 90% of Convoy's entire mechanical switch flashlights (all except the larger L-series and the smalles T-series) and the M1/M21B's are by far my favourite hosts from Simon. I really feel they nailed the dimensions. The head/reflector size is the perfect size for a tonne of throw without it being too large like the C8. The feel of the 21700 tube on the M21B fits in my hands like a glove. My current favourite emitter in my M21B is an XHP70.3 HI with the OP reflector. This thing throws like crazy but still gives a huge flood at the same time - it's literally a wall of light that lights up an entire field.
    If I wanted only one light, I could honestly be happy with the M21B. But it's still great to have so many choices at such affordable prices too.

      Yeah the M21B and M1 are both fantastic but for EDC on a short trip I tend to carry the S6/8/M1. I like how these pretty much beat most of the more expensive competition out there with ease.

      I have an M21B with an FC40 and you'd have to fight me to take it off my hands. I love it to pieces.

    m21b and m1 are very underrated hosts imo. excellent thermal performance for their size. balanced on the throwy side. useable spill, customize with emitter of choice.

      I think so too, excellent value and probably one of the first I'd recommend if you don't need onboard charging

    Thanks for the comparison video. The M2 with a CSLNM1.F1 green LED would be interesting. I like the stainless steel bezel on the M2. Difficult to pick between these flashlights!

      I think the M2 with that LED should throw about 800m

      Unfortunate how there's no steel bezel for the M1 and M21B.

    Amazing light show, mate. Crikey, of all the many flashlight channels on YT that I've subscribed to, yours is the first one which I reviewed compared *green* LED Convoys. 🔦👏
    You mentioned the M1 as having the Osram W1 and the M21B with the W2. Does "W2" stand for the second generation of these Osram emitters, like Cree XHP70.2 vs 70.3? If I remember correctly, green light on red objects make them appear black. I can see the awesome contrast when green light is used on trees and foliage, but how does green light behave *indoors* with various objects at home? The fact that these torches are designed as throwers vs flooders does suggest that green flashlights are supposed to be used outdoors. Hmmm.. 🤔
    BTW, is the M21B bigger than the Wurkkos TS23 or about the size of the Sofirn SC33? I have both and they're the largest sized ones in my collection. I have a spare Wurkkos 5000mAh 21700 cell with no flashlight to use it in! 😀

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi mate, I should be more clear - the W1 is the Osram CSLNM1 and the W2 is the CSLPM1 or CULPM1. PM1 LEDs have a 2x1mm die surface and produce more light. I'd say the M21B is a similar size to the TS23. In the house? Just makes everything looks green 😃 does the job though.

      @@DarrenYeoYT Much obliged, Darren! I learned quite a few things which I didn't know about since I followed your channel! I guess the M21B will be my choice for a 21700, otherwise if it's an 18650 then it'll be the M1!
      BTW, do you think you'll be among the first to review the new Wurkkos T26s? I think it's the replacement for the TS25A with quad Nichia emitters, sans Anduril.

    Do you have any hunch on how does the M1 and Z1 compare with throw (sft40 6500k)? I think white pill bottle cap and a piece of light diffuser from old screen could compensate on the lack of zoom in short range with the M1.

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  18 дней назад +1

      I think the Z1 will throw further in that scenario. Maybe 200 extra metres. And yes, some kind of cap diffuser would work to soften the beam.

    Sft40 on a m1 do we know the candela measurement?

    From my experience, these seemingly aggressive bezels actually struggle really hard against decent glass, both aluminium and stainless steel. It just doesn't focus the energy well enough unlike those inlaid beads/spikes. But I still like them for letting me know if the light is on when placed bezel down. I think I'll grab the M21B cuz of more efficient driver than M1 + no water ingress issues which the M2 suffers from. It's 21700 but I'd rather run an adapter (like the Fenix ALF-18) for the 18650. Might wait a bit and see if Simon would eventually offer it with the newer higher CRI 4000K SFT-40 cuz I've already got more than enough cool white throwers.

    Between M1 and M2 which host feels better?

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  2 месяца назад +2

      The M2 feels more balanced and easier to pocket due to the smaller bezel. But M1 has better long distance performance due to the reflector. I still prefer the M1 due to that.

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue Месяц назад

      IME between the M1 and M2, I prefer the M2's feel owing to its head/body proportions. But those proportions are the same in the M21B, my favourite by a fair margin.

    Darren, what do you think about the M21A, the "C8 with 21700" stlye flashlight, with the green emitter?

    • @DarrenYeoYT
      @DarrenYeoYT  2 месяца назад +1

      Hi mate, that would be the better version to get if you were choosing between that and the C8+
      The bezel is going to be large anyway so might as well have the extra battery capacity of that 21700

    • @DinnerForkTongue
      @DinnerForkTongue Месяц назад

      @@DarrenYeoYT Too right. Plus the M21A can work with 18650s, but the C8+ can't roll with 21700s.
      I purchased a C8+ and while it's not a bad torch, I regret that purchase. The M21A would've been way better.
