@29:00 you can see the output line from the pump has a copper crush washer to prevent leaks but he failed to use one with the input water line. No wonder customers keep having them leak, there’s not enough torque on the threads and Teflon tape to seal out water. If he added that crush washer with his adaptor, there would never be a problem. @coffeehaus
Let me add a thumbs up for the Moccamaster coffee maker. I have had one for almost 30 years (yes they have been making them for at least that long - and they don't look much different today from the one I bought long ago - the mark of a great design and quality manufacturing) and it has never failed me. It continues to make great coffee. All I've done is clean it and descale it from time to time.

I love this. I can picture waking up around 6am here, going and brewing up some fine OG spec "dirty mud water" and enjoying some with friends and family. I could then go back for seconds and head down to the garage for some detailing. WOW!
I have a GS3 MP and I love it. Never used the Linea mini but I have heard they are nice. The Mahlkonig is a solid grinder (I just ordered an EG-1 and can’t wait) and of course the Mocca Master is a solid staple. The fellows gooseneck kettle is something we use daily for both tea and coffee. Great choices to get started with a legit setup.
I would use all the same products in my own home. I have slightly different equipment, but great recommendations. Still not convinced "anyone" can dial in a shot, even when the dose and temp are set. Hope it goes well! Congrats Matt! Good job @coffeehaus
I bought my Kranzle from Matt and now it looks like I will be getting my Mocamater from Matt as well. As someone who starts each day with a couple of cups I can use this. I have had the Mocamaster on my list for a while but now I know what grinder I want.
I bough a Jura S8 after looking at tons of coffee machines that check all the boxes. It was a 3K machine and does just about anything. The coffee it makes is amazing and very very user friendly. This set up gives options for sure and a very good machine. I like the built in grinder for Jura where every new cup is fresh.

I think for most, this is a better machine than the decent. Not to mention it is a lot better looking. The decent is very cool and one of the best at certain things but it does not look the part which if I am gonna have it in my kitchen and look at it the whole time the LMLM is the winner everytime. However would have gone single dose grinder, easier to explain to someone “weight 18 grams and then grind it” instead of grind by time which always changes way too much
@@oficina_moomoo yeah although you could crank out more coffee with it being timed but this isn’t a cafe and I don’t find the trade off enough for the trouble you get with adjusting the grind compared to a single dose grinder. Although Matt is open to this idea of adding this coffee machine (which I think is awesome), the thing I noticed in this video as well as one he did in Seattle at the expensive car storage place, is that Matt really doesn't understand why people enjoy coffee outside of Folger's or Maxwell or McDonalds i.e. drinking coffee as a means to an end to get a caffeine kick (we do it btw bc it tastes extremely good to us). Maybe it has to do with being Midwestern or living in the South. This is a core cultural aspect of many countries to deeply enjoy coffee, here's quite a few to mention: Italy, France, England, Australia, South Africa, Korea, Japan, many parts of Africa, South East Asia, South America, etc. all deeply enjoy high quality coffee because people from all over the world love coffee that isn't instant coffee. I like that he's pretty open minded, but he kept prodding with questions on why someone would even bother doing this in the first place. I wish Luke from Coffeehaus, could first explain why people drink coffee like this as opposed to the standard instant diner coffee, as well as the explanation for the basic methods of coffee consumption, WHY is there espresso, WHY is there pour over, WHY is there french press. Maybe something that associates to some on this channel, is the idea of drinking something other than bud light. Imagine you meet a guy who legitimately only drinks budweiser or bud light, may be some people like draft beers or craft beers or some people like more expensive whiskeys (I'm sure plenty of southerners would have other drinks to drink other than a basic bud light, given the rich history of making bourbons, moonshine and so on). Maybe some people like detailing their cars rather than driving to the car wash to get their car all scratched up. Maybe some people like coffee a lot more than Matt would know. Food for thought...
love the intro and the explanation around the coffee maker and how it fits into your brand. Makes me like your brand that much more matt! Smart way to scale your business and venture into something new. p.s. I've setup some really high-end racing simulators - specifically based on iRacing. LMK if wen you get into that chapter ;)

Nah, he's just being the perfect host. Whatever. Drink your hot chocolates. Keep your foot to the floor and stay tuned for more crazy.
Is that a standard depth countertop space you have this on? I've been considering a LMLM for a while (along with some other options), but dimensions on these aren't very clear and they always seem very deep compared to a normal 24" counter. The video makes this look comfortably sized on there.
Love this because as a beverage director but 90’s kid… I’m trying to figure out how to merge the beverage world and cars. Love Helen btw, I live about an hour from there. So nice to get away to.
I have two Olympia Creminas, one bought new over 40 years ago for about $330 and one bought used on eBay for $900. As one is serviced by Cerini Coffee in the Bronx, the other can be used, so I never have to be deprived of my morning cappuccinos. My Luigi Mazzer grinder and Hottop programmable roaster and custom made Reg Barber tamper complete my espresso-making equipment. The Olympia is completely manual and built in Switzerland like the proverbial brick shit house. It sells for a ridiculous $3700 now.
Amazing work Matt.. I’m a big coffee guy.. your setup is awesome…. Also bluebottle coffee is high-end coffee bean company.. you should definitely look into their products they have coffee beans from all over the world. Fellow coffee company has upgraded barrel bits that you can get for your grinder Gen2
I’m surprised a super automatic isn’t in the mix too? Like a Terra Kaffe 02, which is being shipped in 2023 (This version seems like something OG Matt would appreciate)…I know there is a level of difference in taste, etc….but the super automatic is probably the easiest one to operate beyond just brewing coffee….
Great to hear about adding one in the future. No denying which machine wins in replicating the cafe style of espresso drink. My perspective was from the mindset that most people will just want to “push” a button and have the machine produce a flat white or similar drink with minimal effort or time to learn using the machine…I would rather push a button and get a drink that is close enough vs. having to watch tutorials on making the same coffee drink. Like you mentioned, the milk steaming has a learning curve too. Anyways, your experience in this arena is impressive and above my knowledge, but always great to have different perspectives.
Thank you for the video. I really admire you trial and error live. It takes a lot of courage and patience. But if you really had ECM Synchronika with flow control, you wouldnt be struggling with the grind level too fine.
I had a technivorm mocamaster and it fell and broke a bottom part of the plastic. Not only would they not give me the part that broke but they wanted me to ship the coffee maker at my cost to have them change the part out. It was very expensive made a good cup of coffee but I retired it after their terrible customer service
I appreciate the work it takes to make the drink and what it tastes like but I wouldn't want to mess with taking care of the machine or cleaning it up and the mess it makes. So do you offer a barista option when you rent the house?
Serve Matt a double espresso mocha latte and watch him wash his car🚀. Seriously if you are going to sell these machines one should be able to speak the vernacular and be able to explain the difference tastes. I’m sure some guest might want to bring their own beans. Beautiful setup.
Kinda, sorta, maybe. I believe the thinking is, "Just tell me what to buy." The value is not having to go down the rabbit hole. Especially for something that one doesn't have a passion for. I'm about 99% positive that I can't taste the difference between two really good brews. But I'm betting I could taste the difference between this setup and something my 75-year-old mom makes every morning.
@ObsessedGarage P.s. The Aldi's in Blairsville is now open. I'm sure you shop at the one in Cleveland, but if your ever in the Blairsville area it is open now.
I stopped caffeine and now use fat as energy. I'll never go back to overwhelming my systems day after day with stimulants. I am much happier. Having said that... When people are passionate... it makes things interesting.
imagine explaining all this to someone that never had done proper espresso. lol. guests not going to be using this thing or they are going to be pulling out pretty bad coffee. As he mentioned you have to constantly change grind depending on what coffee, level or roast, age of beans, humidity, temperature, ect... But I guess that is why there is also the mochamaster lol I will say this, this dude knows what he is doing
I agree if they are a first timer, I don’t know if a video would help if they can’t grasp the details of instructions and execute them seamlessly. Like teaching someone to drive by watching a video, doesn’t really work, they need hands on. But it would be awesome for people with some experience
@@pantac4493 A video wouldn't hurt. The variables are always going to be there. Smart people aren't incapable of figuring this stuff out. Just because they haven't done it, doesn't mean they can't. I think it'd be fun to play with. Probably get a laugh or two fumbling around.
@@timkinley1779 yeah, depends on the person I suppose. I’ve been doing it for years and people look at me cross eyed when I tell them why you need to grind the beans yourself for the espresso to be made correctly. It’s simple but they don’t get it or don’t want to get it 🤷♂️
This place is all about the experience. It's not much different washing a car for the first time with all of the equipment in the garage. You need to know a lot of things to do it right, but it sure is fun figuring it out.
@@ObsessedGarage sure and don't get me wrong I think its very cool, everyone should experience what its like to work with nice coffee equipment. But also when you wash a car for the first time your outcome will be that your car will just not look as nice as if you know what you are doing, when you make a bad coffee it will taste like crap lol consequences are higher :)
Some people are okay with something that tastes like dirty water others want to get the best results they can. It’s a matter of how much you want it. They make different types of espresso machines for different skill levels and for people that want more control
Were you around while Matty was coming up with the bucket package? Presol Bottles? Testing pressure washers? Rodents in the GT3? This video fits in nicely.
@@timkinley1779 don’t get me wrong I love the idea but man that’s a lot of work for a cup of coffee. I guess I don’t understand because I’m not a coffee drinker. Just seems like a lot of steps to me. Not knocking it. Just didn’t have any idea of the process it took to get there.
@@JColip1776 I didn’t get into it until about 4 or 5 years ago after I tried a real coffeehouse cappuccino. I was also shocked how much was involved and the cost. I tried a couple of pump machines but didn’t like the maintenance and decided on manual espresso that you clean as you go. Better fit for me because I normally only have one drink a day and it’s much more reliable because it’s barebones, no pump, plumbing leaks, or electrical to fail
Looks to me like WAY WAY too much trouble and hassle then it's worth!!! I would like to be a fly on the wall watching guests make coffee - Ha! It's going to cost $19 a cup and take forever to tweak to their individual taste. I can't even imagine what the coffee maker and grinder costs. Just not practical for guest usage IMHO. More for a coffee obsessed person who doesn't mind going to coffee school to make a cup.
Using the grinder that times the output and not weight doesn’t make sense to me. There are grinders that have very little retention and when you pre-measured the bean weight, that’s the weight you get on the output. That makes adjustments to grind size 100x easier than this. Instead of them filling the hopper they could weigh out the amount they need for a single dose and adjust for retention if there’s any
You'd be surprised. The cost of the maker and grinder are covered. So you don't have to imagine anymore. It would probably cost me more than $19. But vacation $19 is different than a regular day $19.
For guests, a super automatic would have been better. The average guest don’t want to deal with anything complicated. Rather just push a button and be on there way.
The La Marzocco will be destroyed by people who do not know how to use/clean it properly. A high end bean to cup would be better. WMF from Germany for example.
Hahaha, have been using my Chinese made Breville for just over a decade. Most Breville machines are under $1k, so I guess they’re junk. But the thing is, they make excellent cups of coffee … and it’s reliably consistent. It’s not really the machine that makes a great cup of coffee, it’s the person preparing it. A bad barista can still make a crap cup of Joe on an $8k espresso machine, while an excellent barista can make a wonderful cup of coffee with a simple $30 French press. You want a great cup of coffee, have someone who knows their stuff make one for you. If not, learn how to do it yourself. This thing spending gobs of money (for no reason) on certain things is pure silly. Nobody will ever taste the difference between a $500 machine or a $5k machine. I promise you. 😊😊😊
I make fully manual espresso and I don’t feel I need for anything more because I don’t like the maintenance of pump machines but if I were to go to a place like this, it would be nice to have premium equipment to go along with the other premium amenities
All of that stuff is a waste of time. Buy the top-of-the-line built-in Miele and be done. I've been through it all. I have the fanciest of equipment and nothing beats the quality and convenience of the Miele.
You’re talking about a fully automatic machine? That’s more like going to an automatic car wash. That doesn’t come close to what you can make with gear like OG has. Your results will be dependent on your skill but it’s easily attainable
@@pantac4493 I'm a coffee snob. I have used up to $10k machines and frequent many coffee shops. I cannot beat my Miele. Best part is it's fully automatic and plumbed. (Using filtered water is essential.) I have most of the things represented here. I can appreciate anyone who likes to spend the time to 'perfect' their coffee. Shouldn't of said it's a waste of time above. I'm simply sharing with you my experience over the years. Everyone will come to their own conclusion. Coffee is an art.
@@saul_bloom I haven’t used it myself but heard that it didn’t grind fine enough especially on light roast and it had foamy crema. But if you enjoy it and easier for you then that’s a good thing. If I come across one someday I’ll give it a try, it’s just hard for me to believe knowing variables it takes to do it right . I don’t mind working for good coffee but if something like this is actually good, convenience can win, I just never witnessed it myself yet
@@pantac4493 Yes! This is exactly what's amazing about the full-bodied expresso this machine makes with 100% constancy. It is amazing. I only make lungo coffees for the most part. Very fine beans, of course, are a prerequisite. The crema is amazing. Once you get used to these I barely want to use my Moccaster because the taste is so inferior in every way imaginable. Admit I do enjoy grinding the beans though. My wife makes perfect cappuccinos every day for like 5 years now and the machine has never broken. Consistently as hot as you want. Machine isn't cheap at like $5k plus a plumber but 100% worth it for coffee on the run.
This is the fourth comment about a Crescent wrench. It better be an actual Crescent brand adjustable wrench. Cause if it's not, it's an adjustable wrench. Crescent is a brand name. Please don't be a Crescent so that I didn't rant for nothing.
I'm sorry but I think this is a road to nowhere. If I'm renting the Helen house and I'm about to go for a very difficult hike I just want my black coffee produced by a Cuisinart that won't fail me and give me what I want every single time. I think Matt should have a standard Cuisinart coffee maker there, along with this fancy stuff for those who are rich but aren't fancy. Plus none of these fancy expensive machines have a timer on them. So they can't be ready for you when you wake up you have to sit there in half sleep waiting for them to finish before you get your coffee. Unacceptable.

Matt, you should consider OG custom kitchen builds. It’s one of the best parts of the Helen House.
What is the OG Blend … dark, medium roast? Region?
It’s a 60/40 split of Guatemala and Brazilian coffees, roasted to what we would consider to be a medium roast
Love this because as a beverage director but 90’s kid… I’m trying to figure out how to merge the beverage world and cars. Love Helen btw, I live about an hour from there. So nice to get away to.
Good video! We have a Miele built-in unit. It makes for a great experience too for those that need/want a push button solution.
Nice!
Fellow coffee company has upgraded barrel bits that you can get for your grinder Gen2

why not a super automatic espresso maker? Jura?
I’m surprised a super automatic isn’t in the mix too? Like a Terra Kaffe 02, which is being shipped in 2023 (This version seems like something OG Matt would appreciate)…I know there is a level of difference in taste, etc….but the super automatic is probably the easiest one to operate beyond just brewing coffee….
There will be one in the future, but we see a disconnect in a replication of a commercial-quality coffee & super autos < $10k
But if you really had ECM Synchronika with flow control, you wouldnt be struggling with the grind level too fine.
this makes me feel so much better about how i waste 5-6 shots with a new coffee blend to get it right haha. its not just me
I had a technivorm mocamaster and it fell and broke a bottom part of the plastic. Not only would they not give me the part that broke but they wanted me to ship the coffee maker at my cost to have them change the part out. It was very expensive made a good cup of coffee but I retired it after their terrible customer service
Hit up Coffeehaus and they’ll replace it next time.
Nice Pepsi Gmt!
I'm so glad I think my 20 cent coffee at home tastes better than all the $6 coffees at Starbucks etc..
LOL< smacked down the the KIA analogy🤪
Matt is going to freak out when he sees how messy that Ode grinder is. Even Gen 2 leaves grounds everywhere.
We like to spray a single spray of water onto the beans prior to grinding to deal with the static issue any flat burr set creates.
Curse you Matt. I now have to have this. You do a great job spending my money
The man has gone Hollywood on us

I bet this dude using a Crescent wrench at 29:20 just *kills* Matt lol
I appreciate the work it takes to make the drink and what it tastes like but I wouldn't want to mess with taking care of the machine or cleaning it up and the mess it makes. So do you offer a barista option when you rent the house?
Ha, ha... I guarantee you that I could find some barista would come with you if you offered it up.
Screw that toss a $1 pod in the office machine and poof .. coffee 😂
That’s trash coffee for the ones that care about taste

@@timkinley1779 I prefer to 'Indian Leg Wrestle' them....
Well Matt, I was able to make 45 min.
imagine explaining all this to someone that never had done proper espresso. lol. guests not going to be using this thing or they are going to be pulling out pretty bad coffee. As he mentioned you have to constantly change grind depending on what coffee, level or roast, age of beans, humidity, temperature, ect... But I guess that is why there is also the mochamaster lol
I will say this, this dude knows what he is doing
Did I just see a crescent wrench being used? 😮😂
Stop 🤣🤣😭
@@Coffeehaus 🤣
While there’s 100k worth of tools in the garage 😂😂
Looks like Matt asked r/espresso what a good beginner set up would be
this makes my head hurt how does one spend so much time making a cup of coffee lol.
@@pantac4493 yea I’m the Keurig type of person if I have a glass which is rarely. I just never knew it was this involved. Especially the setup process
I miss Michelle...
That was so dumb to waste all those good coffee in a garbage bin....
No.
$20,000 of tools in the garage, and we have to watch someone ham fist a stainless steel hose install with a crescent wrench?🤔
Ha, ha... Good catch.
Hadn’t had my coffee yet… lol
Nah...I'm not doing that.
So glad you did this, I'm going to need instructions for my week😎 Now do one on TV remotes🥸
