    I love that you put the examples into a solo, nobody ever does that, they just say play the pentatonic and become a god. Thank you

      +Wormweed No problem :)
      I like to show the motivation for learning "boring" scales 😄

    • @Wormweed
      @Wormweed 7 лет назад +9

      Yeah, they do get a bit boring. And im terrible at not sticking to it.. But hearing you play a good melody in the same spot made it a lot more interesting.

    • @clapton79
      @clapton79 7 лет назад +3

      Wormweed I used to find them boring but by time stronger and stronger became the urge to get things right so eventually I got used to boring scale practice. now I'm enjoying every moment of it.

    love how you added the chomatics at the end. most lessons like this stop short and only focus on the pentatonic notes. you show how to blend other notes in with the pentatonic for some spice.

    Darrell, I want to thank you for all of your videos. I was once quite good at guitar and an accident left me with a traumatic brain injury. I lost much of my memory including languages I knew. One of those was music. I have had to teach myself to play the guitar again and I am just now getting to scales and lead guitar. These videos are super helpful! Thanks!

    Those fast runs between the a and b strings are what made Kirk Hammett famous during the kill em all and ride the lightening days. Nearly every solo off those two albums have a run similar to what you’re demonstrating

    Nice video. I agree with some of the other comments...it's great to see you apply the exercises in a real solo. This is the third or fourth of your videos I've seen, and I like them all, so I subscribed. If you wouldn't mind an off topic question: I'm currently using the demo's of Bias FX and TH3. I'm not crazy about TH3, although some of it's presets aren't too bad. In their favor, however, is that their demo is a full version. Bias FX's Demo is pretty limited. I don't feel like I'm able to really evaluate Bias FX because lots of the amps and effects aren't available in the demo. Can you share your thoughts, especially on how it compares to TH3, if you have had any experience with that program? Which version of Bias FX are you using, desktop or professional? Sorry if you have covered this in another video, I haven't yet had an opportunity to go through your whole channel!

      +NorthTXMountainbiker Thanks for subscribing :)
      Unfortunately, I haven't used TH3. I currently am using BIAS fx desktop, and S-Gear. They are similar in terms of sound quality, but BIAS has way more options, and amps / pedals.

    More motivational that most pentatonic tutorials. But still, picked up a guitar 4 months ago, playing it all the time, but to me practicing scales is too boring. Hopefully I kick myself in the balls and get on with it

    • @wadeturner7712
      @wadeturner7712 7 лет назад +2

      Francis Ducharme , if you dont practice scales you won't get very far with playing, it will help you heaps if you are ever in a situation of jaming with people, playing guitar is the same as learning a language, yes you have only been playing for four months thats great, but it aint going to get any better , if learning scales boars you... then learn the drums or somthing,

    • @martinsvensson276
      @martinsvensson276 7 лет назад

      wade turner most blues players didn't even know scales. B.B. King for an example

    • @chrisbee8009
      @chrisbee8009 7 лет назад +1

      Just bashing away at scales is a great way to start building crucial music theory that can be used to build practical solos, you should also be learning the notes in the scales at the same time. If all you want to do is play chords over KISS songs it's OK, but if you want to grow musically these are staples.
