Deontay Wilder started boxing at the age of 20 to help pay for his sick daughter's medical bills, and look what he has accomplished. Imagine if he started boxing at the age of 10 or younger like most world champions, how can you not respect this man! Peace and blessings to him and his family 🙏🏽💪🏾
What Deontay said about his dad expressing that they didn’t have friends was the same way my parents raised me. I’m glad they did too. I was able to dodge so many bullets from fake people
same it made me a LONER naturally which kept distraction far waaay from me ..sometimes your parents give you advice but you understand it when you get older
Bro, I grew up without a father, almost became a soyboy and there has been things that I’ve felt but haven’t been able to properly describe in the past, but Deontay here pretty much sums set up. That no friend philosophy is gold, let me tell you
That was an amazing interview… Wilder is way more mature and centered than the media painted him out to be… glad he’s in a good space mentally and that people will see what he stands for… wish him luck in his fight and looking forward to these 3 years he will give the boxing world! He’s a monster heavyweight no doubt !!! The Bronze Bomber !!!
That's what this podcast is for. The media companies have goals and bosses. Corporate sponsors, owners and commissioners don't have time to tell everyone's story and make money. Some don't even care.
"structure, organized, discipline, a certain standard, ability and talent". Deontay is articulate about his craft, thoughtful, as always just outstanding discussion. The most powerful episode ever.
Fred Taylor has truly become my mentor. I’ve have truly learned to make sure that when I speak- speak with purpose. A true inspiration & someone who I have looked up to. The loudest voice isn’t always the wisest. You deserve your flowers despite anything sport related
My therapy session every time they drop another vid with a guest! Absolutely engaging. These interviews take on a life of its own and it’s so organic and honest pure!🙏🏾🔥
In terms of impact and learning about a person, this might have been one of the best episode ive seen y'all do! Big ups to The Pivot podcast, Huge fan!
6 fights in a row he's either fought his mandatory challenger or the best fighter he could get to face him. The only heavyweight in ages that fights the best instead of trying to stay protected
Mandatory fights ain't always the best ortiz was nearly in his forties if not already there and he was winning until betting caught.... Breazeale what has he done!? He won his belt vs Stiverne 😂😂😂 The gypsy king TYSON FURY is wilder dad
@@davidh4890 ok bro. Mandatory is still mandatory. Breazeale ain't it, but he was still the mandatory. Ortiz is flat the best guy that would get in the ring with him at the time
This interview wouldnt have happened if they were with Brandon. He thought he could beat Wilder and he would have interrupted him so much. Thank you Pivot for always having well facilitated meaningful conversations, humor, and guest that we always want to see/hear from.
I like Deontay! I love how he talks about his family. He has a lot of depth. This was great. His statute cool how he broke that down so beautiful of what that meant to him and his fans/followers.
I appreciate how aware, articulate, transparent, authentic & strong this brother is...he's so reserved, self assured, focused & built in a firm foundation. If deontay had an eddie futch, ray arcel, jack blackburn, emmanuel steward or george benton? Imagine how unstoppable he would be. People don't realize he's fairly new to boxing & dominated with purely raw skills...
Wow !!!! The way y’all allowed Deonte to be so open and vulnerable was priceless! I geared up a few times ❤❤❤ ThankYou ThankYou!! I’ll be routing for you Deonte ! You’re Already The Winner in my eyes 🙏🏾
Incredible interview, not much more to say for me. I knew Wilder, been a fan of his ability and career but truthfully .. I didn't know him and now my respect and understanding of his life has increased a lot. This pod is a great example of the value of the new media surge. There is no way we would get anything close to this from Wilder during an ESPN interview even if he wanted to be open.
Man this guy is actually smart af. Regardless of his losses to fury, he’s a true leader. He’s got the balls to speak his mind and so much of it is the truth others don’t wanna talk about and majority don’t want to hear because it’s just too difficult to talk about. Respect to this leader and respect to the pivot for getting this legend on here, Deontay Wilder.
This the show where a black man can come and be seen and a man . Whatever there doing or have done the Pivot gives then a real platform to be seen in a truly humanizing way . I appreciate that so much . That’s Guys for real ! ❤
I hate how people talk about him after he loses against Fury man this man is dope AF! He is a human being and he tries!! Good luck on your next fight D Wild 🤟🏾💯
After watching this interview I have much respect for wilder. He is not what the media portrays him as. A real champion who will win the title again before he retires.
Man this was a surprise 1 here I’m such a fan of him. Y’all never miss when it comes to these guest you have. Great work. Success is showing the ladder still going up
I didn’t know anything about Wilder other than as a talented fighter. Knowing all this backstory and the way he sees life, that makes me interested in seeing him succeed.
46 min mark his tone changed completely when talking about his daughter. His tone was so loving like you can tell how much she means to him. Didn’t really know him, but BLOWN away with breath of thought and you can FEEL what he saying.
What I love about The Pivot is the insights you give us all. Changes perspectives of those that come with an open mind. I’ve learned so much about people and processes. I’m a BUSY man but when I sit down to watch something this is the first thing that comes to mind. Thank you!
Wilder showing how Human even Champions of his caliber are. Obviously we all human, but it’s easy to forget some of these public figures are people just like you and I and especially fighters. They seem super human or above mistakes at time. But wilder talking about his past and his outlook on his life is truly inspirational. A true man of honor. Even in loss he went out on his shield and I’ve always admired that. The last fight he went the last 5-6 rounds tired and hurt and he never stopped coming forward and trying his best. He can hold his head high. True champion , G bless brother 🤝
And another one!!! I learn so much about people in other arenas of life. This man is definitely one who is blessed and his storytelling is meant for life skill-building. The fact he sought his family’s support to return to the ring!! ❤️💎🙌🏾

Wow this is crazy, I was born with Spina Bifida and I respect Deontay for raising his child because I know it was tough for my parents raising me. Him seeing the Moon smiling though 👀
