all nicely played mate. That is an awesome spot up there but hard to fish. You make it look easy.
Thanks for watching Clay, hope all is well with you. Yeah its never as easy as it looks. The moment you think its easy you get brought down to earth the next day real quick such as the fickle nature of fly fishing.
Hell yeah... some of the best footage anywhere
Thanks buddy
Great fishing trip a a couple of beauties hooked up and great fights too and as always you wine and lose a fight too.Great video mate, tight lines and thumbs up too,, Tony.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Your support is appreciated as always
Mean bows n a "good brown good brown", a nice day at the lake Tristan
Cheers, Mark. It's good to go somewhere different. Sometimes, the places that are tricky to walk around in are worth its weight in gold.
The place is lovely, , it's so Beautiful and refreshing,
The water is so Calm nice ,
You make it so easy to catch fish in there ,nice video
Make me smile when you catch the beautiful fish, ,
Thank you for watching, much appreciated
What a neat spot with those undercut banks. Such gorgeous fish too.
Hey thanks for watching bud. Yeah them undercut banks which are in various places of the lake hold some nice fish. A little bit of a breeze helps I find when using the tactic I was using for them last couple of fish.
Beautiful scenery as always and some sweet trout at the end of the fly line. Hard to beat that combo! Awesome to see you back in the saddle my friend!
Thanks for your support my friend. It's great to be out on the water again
a new season and it hasn't dissapointed. banger video mate
Thanks Daz, hope all is well with you over there in tassie mate 👍🏻
Cheers mate
Man that beauty jumping out the water was awesome brother. Absolutely a stunner if a day man.
Cheers, brother. I'm glad you enjoyed the video
@@HighcountryFlylife always do my brother.
Well done Tristan. Those flax-lined swampy lakes are fun, if not exhausting!
It makes for a tiring day by the end of it but a few fish on the board makes it worth while. Cheers.
Never take a shortcut across the swamp at Lake Benmore's Ahuriri Arm, its up to your nether-regions for the most part! I gave up. Now I know there's a better route!
@waitakifly Ah that sounds rather dodgy. This place is not quite as swampy as it once was. A lot of the pot hole that was in a lot of the banks seems to have filled in somewhat, but you still have to be careful.
A really good brown, good brown and a few nice bows too mate... ;)
Thank you mate.. It's good to get out for the day, somewhere different.
Awesome video! Beautiful views! I love the reflection of the clouds in the lake. Hope all is well with you and yours.
Thank you for watching and the comment, much appreciated. I'm well and I hope you are too
That brown trout you got is a gem. The golden buttery colour on that fish is stunning. Nice video and the crystal clear audio by the sounds of nature is top notch 👌
Thanks, buddy. Yeah, I'm using a totally different camera now to the GoPro. Crisp Clear audio, plus I don't have any issues with recording in a long day in the sun like you generally get with the GoPro.
Awesome video there mate. Nice fish caught. It Looks like you had the lake to yourself too 👊
Middle of the week and a lake that doesn't generate huge interest. They are ones never to overlook. Thanks for watching.
@@HighcountryFlylife "Too Right.."
Fortunately for you, I released this fish back on opening day 😉
Same spot too 👍
The scales said 9lb, so either that fish has lost some condition quickly or scales are broke ha!
Just checked back on a picture for cross referencing on the markings and bang on!
Anyways,
Love your videos dude, keep up the good work and keep the content rolling. 🎣 🤙
Thanks for watching, bud. I'd say it's a fair chance your scales are broken 🤔😉 or it was a different fish when you consider the McClean net I was using is relatively new and off camera I put the digital scales on it to confirm and it read 7lb both times. So it would be unlikely my digital would be broke too. Plus, I've caught fish around 8 and 9 before and visually looking at it.." I know it's not 9 lb, but anycase, it was a good one and not a bad little lake. It doesn't get too much attention..
Fished there in 90s a couple of times very challenging, but only encounter I had was with a large eel
Tough place to get good casts in because of all the scrub and flax surroundings, swamp etc.. Indeed I saw some huge huge eels in here. Probably not a lake Id quite happily want to paddle around on a float tube. But there would be some merit in fishing there on a paddle craft given the shoreline the way it is..
Cracking video
cheers, watched already? Just posted it haha

Good fishing there mate, thanks for taking us along. What breaking strain tippet do you usually use in the Canterbury high country lakes?
Thanks for watching buddy, much appreciated. The breaking strain I use on these lakes is 4lb tippet.
Great session mate!!!
All quality fish 🐟
May I ask what was the rabbit fly that took the brown.
The brown was a stunner !
Thanks, buddy. It was a red bodied size 8 tanned brown zonker style pattern,

Howdy 🤠 ranger 🥲🫃🏼🍌
if it was golf that last fish was a gimmee
Fortunately for me it wasn't golf.. It would of been the bow of the day, not to be.
