the way you speak about mind crush being such an obvious side deck card made me think about how keegan commented that it was only to be used by high IQ players
Had a though on Iron wall and which deck it is worth to side against: Standard Blackwings: No 3 Vayu Blackwings: I think you need your traps like Bottomless as they are more versatile and blocks whirlwind search and keeps you alive. So would not side it Standard Vayu: Yes, good against the strategy and the 3 caius, but could just get popped by ryko (as could any other trap tbf) Zombies: You said it is insane against Zombies, but you give them s searchable never ending emergency teleport with plague? that could backfire massively, especially as brio will bounce it to hand anyway if needed. Frog Monarchs: Not really Any absolute Zero decks: Yes Gladis: No Dragon Turbo: I can see it blocking the most important thing, getting REDMD dragon out. Fairies: could be good to counter DDWL, alchimist or freed/soul Quickdraw Dandy: no Lightsworn: No Hero Beat: you Block the 3 miracles and all the bth/prisons, so can be a shout -> Feel free to add to this and comment on my view My bottom line here is, that you board it in decks, which can play under iron wall to counter the opponent strategies, but the deck also needs to be hurt a lot by d.d. crow. So you have 3 more cards Iron wall works against. For example Quickdraw Dandy it could be insane in, you just need to board bth/prison out and play Raiza instead of Caius main. Plague probably too weak to play, but could be funny. Other decks are Lightsworn or Flamvell.
@@Karpath_ that' interesting. I played somewhat competitively up until 2017 and I thought it was always the case, and I could not find any resource on that being diferent for newer formats. I could be totally wrong though haha
That's been the case for a long time; quickplay spells / traps that do not modify atk/def cannot be played during damage step. Only modifiers and counter traps. Been the case since days long past.
@@evanglicanism yeah i already knew about spreader, found out this week flamvell dont get banished with iron wall. Idk if spreader is needed tho when you already have 2-3 magicians, usually gale as well
mind control target facedown ryko may as well turn into mind conteol target a sangan, trooper, dandy or even vayu and other crap. you need 4 tuners for mind to be playable imo. in glads different story obv.
You often have some idea of what your opponent is setting. I agree that you need multiple tuners to justify maindecking mind control, but you can and should side it in pretty much everything bc it is inherently a crazy card even outside of taking set rykos.
I've seen monster heavy machina lists, with lots of high level machines to reborn the fortress, play iron wall to great effect

Been main decking iron wall in Aliens for a while now, definitely heat.
What is weird about My Body? Like any other quick-play spell that does not modify atk/def stats, it cannot be used in the damage step
That’s only true in very old formats

@@OverlordDrakow in current you can use MBAAS in the damage step
@@Karpath_ Oh wow, apologies I stopped playing around 2015 or something, so did not know that.
How does rekindling and iron wall work? Seems like if they can co exist it would be a good side for flamvell
I am 100% using this idea. Also found out that plaguespreader can be endlessly cycled as long as you have cards in hand. This seems broken.

gonna try siding iron wall in lightsworns

Imagine flipping iron wall to protect your backrow from NoE 😂
imperial iron wall also protects against crow and half of kycoo- it's crazy in any deck that needs its grave but doesn't need to banish from its grave
Which doesnt apply to most decks to be fair. Also don't forget you can run Prison w Iron Wall so your decks gotta compensate that
