when smokescreening irl, the habit of always shuffling your side deck into your main then removing 15 between every game prevents deduction in how many cards you actually side.

Definitely a good strategy when playing in person

The 3rd way of siding you talk about is very interesting and something as a fairly new player I've, in a much less systematic fashion, thought about as I've tried putting effort into improving my siding. Maybe general wisdom would for example be to side out spell/trap hate vs. lightsworn, but what if that lightsworn has floodgates or traps that counters your deck they put in for game 2 and 3?! etc.
In other words, very appreciated video, thanks for the content!

Thank you!! Your right side decking is very challenging and is different game to game.

Your philosophy of siding too many cards very much applies to that second line of thinking of siding in hate like Pulling the Rug and Fossil Dyna. When siding in cards that are specifically geared to interrupting your opponent, your own engine suffers. I find a good alternative approach is to focus on cards that alleviate matchup pressures as alternatives. Maybe a Dandylion engine sucks against one deck but maybe Snowman Eater can still facilitate your engine's intentions while greatly improving your matchups vs Hero Beat and Blackwing. This would be an example of a card that greatly hinders the opponent, but actually properly integrates into the gameplan with something like Debris Dragon, unlike Fossil Dyna. Vanity's over Caius is a good example of this while also planning for Pulling the Rug, as you said.
