Hope you all enjoyed the first episode of the Edison Encyclopedia! I promise the cameras will be positioned better in the next episode (I can assure this since Episode 2 is already recorded). I'm not used to switching scenes mid-recording, so it completely slipped my mind.
I can't even describe how fitting it feels for you to launch this series with Blackwings 😆in all seriousness though, this series is a great idea to help give people a proper in-depth look at why and how to pilot these decks. I look forward to both what other decks you cover in this way and any polish that you add to this series in the future 👍
Normally I'm not particularly interested in the nitty-gritty of competitive yugioh but I really enjoyed this, Frazier does a great job of going into a very articulate and detailed depth without feeling meandering or tedious. If anything would get me to actually buy a real deck and go out to my local events, it's something like this.
@@andii2980 He won a YCS back at that time period of 2010 and topped like 15 YCSs across 2010-2016 time period before he stopped playing modern around 2016/17
Can you perhaps put the full image of a card when the cohost mentions it? Frazier has mentioned cards like goblin zombie, dandelion and such rather quickly, and if you have to manually type each and every card, it's hard for both you and viewers to keep up. Also like the deck list doesn't change so we don't need to keep staring at it. Having a bigger card on the screen is just easier for us to read effect
I think those cards were brought up more spur of the moment, it really wasn't that hard to follow in those moments anyways since Cimoo brought out the most relevant examples pretty quickly 🤷
Didn't think this series would drop so soon, super excited for this and thank you for all your hard work! Adding to this after watching the video. As someone who recently has gotten into playing Edison format (playing Machina Gadgets), this is the most informative and helpful video on Edison that I have ever watched.
Love the Edison content! Might be worth putting out a small side video explaining unique Edison rulings, eg. Priority, first turn draw (although it _was_ mentioned briefly) etc. to help people coming from outside the game/modern formats
I wouldn't say first turn draws were that unique, pretty standard for the majority of Yu-Gi-Oh's lifespan, though priority is certainly a rather interesting situation, especially since it goes away a bit after Edison, iirc, so definitely a relevant rule that most aren't familiar with 🤔
There's been a lot of talk recently about Yugioh needing something like this readily available to players. Glad to see it, hope others chip in to do more stuff like this!
The match at the end was a ton of fun. Looking forward to more episodes of this series and hoping you branch out into all sorts of formats, maybe even current meta
Love this type of content. Large majority of my community are interested in alternate formats like EDISON, and honestly, the game just needs deep dive content like this
Blackwings are the archetype that got me back into playing Yu-Gi-Oh frequently :) How awesome it's getting this in-depth analysis going as far back as Edison format!
FYI, bottom right in the search result area, you can change the banlist to Edison to make it known what cards are actually banned or limited in the deck.
It's not like I hate this or something, but does this being in the Tuesday slot mean that History of Jank is now cancelled? That was honestly my favorite series on the channel
Jank is either on hiatus or gone, there's no definite answer yet me thinks, because there's gonna be the 3v3 event in... February i think, and cimoooooooo and Joseph will be participating. Apparently they wanna take it seriously so they're probably using a lot of time on that, especially Alex since he's been out of the meta for a while now. That's what i got from what i read
sick series! I do like the serious competitive, but also jank is really sick. Edison jank decks would be fun once you cover all the familiar decks in Edison
I wish this got more views for cimo to be more incentivized to continue this series since this format seems really interesting and I hope to see more decks from this format
Enjoyed this a lot! Cool idea for a series for sure. One thing I'd actually love to see more of are explanations for side-decking in this format. Like, why you would take out certain things and add others games 2 and 3. I find that to be one of the toughest things in Edison specifically, because of how different the theory is to modern yugioh. Hell, that alone could be its own video. I could see e3 hopping on for something like that. Excited to see what else you got in store!
Honestly i love how it’s basically a podcast. I’m one of those kinda people who works and drives almost all day, and just having a new series of videos I can listen to that’s yugioh related is a dream come true. I look forward to the next (25,♾️) episodes possible with this theme!
Love the series! I quit ygo around this time, so all of the new stuff is too advanced for me and I don’t know any of the effects. But with Edison, I still remember all these effects so it’s much easier for me to watch
I liked this. As someone who played yugioh due to MD but quit before tear came, I like the concept of alt formats. Its why I liked history but this deep dive into a specific format is cool. I know a lot of ppl were in love with jank; but I think this was great.
Awesome video and very in-depth! I've been thinking about getting into Edison Format on the side as I've slowly progressed into playing some competitive modern Yu-Gi-Oh!, but at the same time still retain a love for the slower formats that I grew up with. Just having to go through and think about what back row or set monsters could be is something fun to do and in some ways, I miss that! This series may give me enough information to start building and playing some Edison moving forward!
Wonderful episode of Edison Encyclopedia. Sadly, in the Edison format, they just nerfed Lightsworn, which was my main atm and I felt like Blackwing was the Anti-Lightsworn since it had similar components and was a powerhouse at the time and didn't get touched like Lightsworn did. Later on, I got to appreciate Blackwing and saw it for how good it was. Thank you for the content.
I have two Edison Decks, Blackwing and Diva Heros. I prefer Blackwing though so I'm happy to see that it's the first Episode. Can't wait for the next one!!
Love it. I feel like this could be taken to the next level if the opponent was a known Edison player as opposed to a DB random. It’d take the gameplay even more interesting 👍🏼
would really appreciate later on in the series a special episode where you talk about staples in edison !! love this series already - edison go brrrr 🫶🏼🫶🏼🫶🏼
A cool idea for this series would maybe be to explain the staples in Edison. You kinda glossed over them here, but a new player might not know exactly why they’re good. Maybe the video could be about which decks benefit from particular staples, the ratios they’re generally run at, and general guidelines for when to use them to maximize value. idk if the video is actually necessary, but I wanted to throw it out there in case.
I love edison and am very happy to see this series. My only suggestion would be maybe to play against vetted opponents so you get better quality matches
Amazing video. This series is precious. Can’t wait for the lightsworn episode. Is there a synchro deck in Edison? I’m trying to get into it but I haven’t done much research
I really wish alternate formats like this were more officially supported. Locals still only use advanced format, and most people arent traveling to all the YCS events where they do the side events. It feels like the only way to play stuff like this is to get involved with discord servers and stuff, and I think that turns alot of people off. I dont understand why Master Duel doesn't just have these modes so we can jump in and play whenever.
unless i missed something VAYU's banish effect can be used to summon silverwind in any way, since silverwind needs 2+non- tuners and VAYU states that it banish just him and another monster not 2+.. in modern yu-gi-oh it's also the reason why you can't make silverwind with twin shadows trap (if i'm not wrong on something)
These blackwings are what I used when I first started playing Yugioh. Nowadays BW decks use none of these cards except for whirlwind. The nostalgia is real.
Hi, I have an idea for a yugioh series, but my channel doesn't have enough subscribers to actually try to do it myself (the videos will probably die on obscurity), so I'm posting the idea here in case you want to try it, keep in mind this is a series for 2 hosts. A series where every card you use is getting banned for you going forwards, this will force interesting strategies and gameplay. You can make it less drastic, for example only banning 5 cards that your opponents choses, or the loser choses which cards to ban. The main idea is to keep reducing the pool of available cards, in order to force new strategies or archetypes that have never seen the light of the day because other cards were overshadowing them. To be clear I mean starting with a complete modern cardpool, no packs opening, no going season after season, nothing like that (no progression ripoff, more like a regression if you will). It would start with both having a full modern cardpool and after each match there would be a massive ban on the cards used, enough to force different decks for the next round, and this would also eliminate staples easily, making the decks more creative and interesting.
While this is cool, I wish Jank's exit didn't feel so...sudden. I'm also a little tired of Edison getting attention as apparently the only historic format that is worth exploring in any meaningful capacity.
I loved this video!!! I'm interested in playing Edison format but I don't know exactly how to play the decks, but I always loved Blackwings on the anime Do you know some communities that I can join to play online?
Hey Cimooo, love seeing some fresh ideas for the channel, been waiting for some stuff like that. If it's cool, I have constructive criticism, if you end up reading this comment. I like your guest and I would agree that the guest should get to talk a lot, but you almost never spoke. With no editing and a long deck profile, it feels kinda like a podcast, but a one-sided podcast isn't much fun. -Maybe when talking about what a card does, pre-record a Dueling Book practical example and show it on screen. For example, when talking about Armed Wing with piercing, show footage of it attacking a Treeborn Frog with damage graphics, mayve highlighted text on a larger picture of the card. -The game in the second half I feel should be the focus. I understand the risk that the games are unpredictable, but this section felt more engaging while still having your co-host explaining the deck and the strategies very well. None of the criticism is made to be harsh, I love the move into new territory, but I think at least one or two of these considerations could help with the appeal of this concept that has so much potential. :)
Funny enough, you could easily make more "Encyclopedia Entries" for ALL decks and ALL formats (and yes, I know this would feel like a repeat of History of Yu-Gi-Oh / Jank, but I mean focus on 1 specific deck with extra detail) Explain why X deck was the tier zero of the format and such stuff.
this was a really well done video and an interesting series, yugioh does lack a sort of "encyclopedia" especially for retro formats, i hope that this does very well that it would let you branch out to other formats that people enjoy playing too.
I don't know what it's like playing on dueling book, but I might consider mentioning before a game that you're being coached so plays will usually take longer to include the commentary. Or maybe Cimo just duels against the guest instead of going to ranked?
You forgot another interaction with Book of Moon. Say you use vayu's effect to synchro summon either armed wing, armor master or silverwind... if at any time you book of moon that monster then flip it back face up, they get their effects. So they become real essentially. It doesn't help in advantage unless you're chaining to bottomless, mirror force or D. Prison but that could obviously also make the difference in your match to win.
Hope you all enjoyed the first episode of the Edison Encyclopedia!
I promise the cameras will be positioned better in the next episode (I can assure this since Episode 2 is already recorded). I'm not used to switching scenes mid-recording, so it completely slipped my mind.

Hey Cimooo, love seeing some fresh ideas for the channel, been waiting for some stuff like that. If it's cool, I have constructive criticism, if you end up reading this comment.
Pros:
-Your co-host is a good speaker
-Concept of deep diving into good Edison decks is great!
-The talk during the Dueling Book game is great and you talk well together and seeing a practical game is fun with strangers.
Cons:
-The deck comstruction is way too long and static. 40 minutes is a lot to ask, especially with no editing, I feel a more edited and shorter video would be more effective
-the talk in deck profile was a very one-sided conversation.
