- This was the third installment of our Steps to Christ reading challenge. Once again, I sat down with my friend Elise Harboldt to discuss a chapter from this amazing little book.
Steps to Christ was written by prolific author Ellen White in 1892. It is one of the most translated books ever, having been translated into more than 100 languages. It is also one of the top five most influential books in my life personally, and is a book I've read through more times than any other.

Elise’s Theme Song
(Tune: Edelweiss)
Steps to Christ by Ellen White
That’s the book we are reading
Everyday, dear DA leads out in our book reading.
Jesus loves us, wants us to grow
In His love forever.
Steps to Christ by Ellen White
Bless this reading together.
Great job Elise, love this❤
That was beautiful singing. 🎶🎶 Thank you Elize🥰
I LOVE the song at the end!!!! Great job!
When I found this, it had been months since it was posted, so thanks for including me in your opening prayer.
I greatly appreciate the personality of Elise, and wow I love her song! 💕
What a great chapter and I loved your song Elise. Well done!!
I loved all of this but especially what Elise said about us having, "fans," possibly cheering for us in Heaven. :) It has been so much easier to picture the, "great cloud of witnesses," as hypercritical, unwelcoming and watching for sinners eager to exclude us.
My word is communion. He has poured out all of heaven to bring us back into communion with Him.
Communion was written 7 times.
Elise, your song was beautiful! Your notes were from pure sweet love of Christ and His family. Thank you so much!
When you guys were going over your rubric, I noticed something interesting. So far in chapter 1 we've talked a lot about how God reveals himself in nature and nature is something that He created. But, as you guys pointed out, He also identifies with things that we have made as humans: a bridge, a door, a gate, etc. And I just think it's interesting that not only does He call us to *notice* the ways that He reveals Himself, but He also, like that ladder coming down from heaven and touching earth, chooses to relate to us in ways that we have constructed, that we identify with. Granted, our ability to create these objects comes from Him, but still… It's something that we have made as humans and something that we can relate to.
You both are so sincere and I love the song.....you did not sound terrible ...God bless you both and your service 🙏
Powerful, life-changing takeaway: when I wake up every day, I can claim and meditate on the truth that I have an entire host of God’s team rooting for, fighting for, encouraging, and wooing me to Him! Hallelujah, what a Savior
🙌🏼🙏❤️!
You sing beautifully! I loved it. One of my favorite songs too. And thank you both for the great message.
Word: Restore
Point: In ourselves, we are incapable of restoration. But great is the love of God, that He has provided a Way.
Person: Christ is the Power that connects us to God.
Prayer: Thank You for providing a connection so I can be restored!
Practice: (Heb. 4:16) Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.
Promise: God has not left me in a hopeless state with no way out!
God is going to give everyone what they want.
Now let’s see what we want??? Nice complementing of D.A. & Elise team! God bless your ministries!
About 50:00 that discussion made me want to cry; who hasn't felt like that before? 😢
I had to stop at about 3 minutes in because I was struck with a thought. God really does work through seemingly tiny details of our life to expand our understanding of not only His character but parts of His experience! Think about it: Elise was moved very emotionally because she was saying good bye to someone who had no idea that they would never see her again in thier life! Jesus had that same experience! He obediently left His prior position and actions to come live with us, care for us, and provide for us, all while expanding our experience of love. I am just pondering how God gives us these everyday experiences that cycle through some scenes in Christ's life so that we can better understand Him, the Father, and Holy Spirit! Praise the Lord, He is GOOD!
That's a beautiful thought! Thanks for sharing. :-)
Well done you two. Another great study. David you always dig out the gems. And Elise your singing and humor are a blessing and I will keep you and Jasper in prayers for spouses. The ant analogy would be a super kids lesson. So enjoyed this time together. (Still looking for the recipes David! Hint!)
Best ending ever.
Seventh-day Adventist since August 17th, 2002 because that was Sabbath that was when I was baptized...
It was all beautiful. And the song made me cry. Perfect. ❤
Howdy from Tilmon,Texas!
Beautifully and sweetly done Ms Elise!!!!❤❤❤the song!!!!
❤
Amen...
To David’s point in hiding, I noted her reference to Col 2 and saw that in God is hidden the “treasure of knowledge and wisdom “. In other words, man hides from God because of who He is, and God hides who He is so that man won’t hide (the epitome of the incarnation). The use of the word treasure denotes that He encourages fallen man to get to know Him and to find or uncover the treasure at a pace that allows man to adapt to His goodness
God bless you all & your family. Peace from the Father and our Master Jesus Christ. All glory to Him. My brothers and sisters. If you have the time. Please read them in this order and see what God reveals to you. If you feel lead to do so.

41:50 Is where im at, helpless/powerless against my sin, with this struggle i NEED Jesus 🙏🏻
Please pray for me guys. Thanks
My word was “Thank-you” for all that is done on our behalf.
May Jacob's ladder probably should be renamed?
Love the way you bring out the story, god bless.
Does anyone know how to find the supplemental session on chapter two? I've looked on RUclips and Instagram and cone up empty.
Also, Elise you are stinking amazing XD
What a marvelous chapter this was! My word for this chapter was: CALL. What is our call to respond? We are not left to struggle alone; Jesus has bridged the gap, and through Him, we can experience true transformation and communion with God. Lord, thank You for calling me out of sin and into Your marvelous light. Help me to respond to Your call with a willing heart, knowing that I cannot change myself but need Your power to transform me. Let me hear Your voice clearly in every aspect of my life, and guide me to follow the path You’ve set before me. In Jesus name, amen! Today is 9/5/24.
Greetings from Namibia. No sound ons this clip.
Check again, sound is working, perhaps your device not working correctly, from South Africa, Johannesburg☺

Where did the supplemental session go?
I can't find the supplemental session either. It's a very important topic. Anyone know how to find it?
Where is the supplemental video for chapter 2? I started watching it this morning and had to pause it.. Now I can't find it
Me too!
Glad I'm not the only one. I wanted to view that video before I went on to chapter 3's video but I don't see it anywhere on David's RUclips channel.
But now that I am viewing ch. 3, David is explaining why he had to take the supplemental video down to fix some things! It will be back!
I'm glad your happy so much.
DA i talked to you for about 20 seconds at GYC. Hope your well and your Family. Jesus saves.
