The video does Dim with Action Mode on so the video will always appear darker. Turn it off and it will go back to normal like on the first clip. This is probably the reason it doesn’t work in low light.
@@dhirajmalluru4853 action mode defaults to the ultra wise sensor, crops in a bit to about .85x or so. If you use the main sensor by clicking 1x at the bottom the crop will be more noticeable but also the result will be higher quality
The action mode really shows the stabilization capabilities of the iPhone. The good thing is it also maintains good chunk of the quality as well. So far from the tests the iPhone seems to have superior stabilization and better video quality.
The worse HDR is actually because action mode uses the ultra wide camera by default because this mode crops into the image and slides the frame based on the motion so they use the ultra wide because they can crop into that without losing much view. You can go to 1x too though before shooting the video because MKBHD said that.
I mean, it's not really impressive. Other cameras have been doing it for years. iPhone camera still crops pretty heavily to stabilize a footage. Go Pro or DJI action cameras don't have to. Apple would need to figure out stabilization without this crazy crop.

I think it looks pretty good. it's nice to know it's there especially if you want to take videos of kids playing outdoors. When they revealed the Crash detection gyro sensor and then the action mode, I remembered what Samsung did, linking their gyro sensor to the lens stabilization. Looking forward to a camera comparison with this and the S22 Ultra especially in video category
Action mode is so awesome, Samsung will have to step up their super steady mode, which is a tad more jittery and comparatively low res , in the next iteration.

Over sharpening is still HORRIBLE, especially in video... WE NEED an option to reduce the ULTRA SHARPENING that ruins the footage. And keep in mind that RUclips compresses and smooths things out.
Good, but a little useless for those who use it more "professionally" because it darkens a lot and loses quality, much better to use it with the gimbal. Anyway, congratulations apple for the evolution, it's a start.

For anyone wondering why the 13 appears to be more zoomed in, it looks like he is using the main camera on the 13 instead of the ultrawide that the 14 is using. I believe that the 14 can do action mode on the main camera as well as the ultrawide, but for some reason many reviewers seem to not be using it.

That's because the iphone 14 is using the ultrawide angle camera when shooting action stabilized videos , which is an inferior camera compared to the main one.
It's because the better quality normal wide camera is used on the 13 Pro compared to a cropped-in image from the ultra-wide camera of the 14 Pro in this action mode. The 13 in the normal mode uses HDR rendering for a higher dynamic range, which the 14 would also use if you're not using the action mode. But with action mode on, the HDR can't be used because all the processing is needed for the stabilization. That's why the dynamic range is less in this 14 action mode video.
This is actually an amazing feature since iPhones already have such powerful OIS and this is just the cherry on top to basically beat most of the competitors out there
If this also on the iphone 14 and iphone 14 plus, who have the same camera sensor and the same chipset as the iphone 13 line up, Apple theoretically should have no excuse to not put it in the older phones, as well. Because at the moment thats only a software cap id say.
I just bought the iPhone 13 Pro Max and highly disappointed with the closeup being so blurry. My iPhone SE was clear and sharp compared to the "high end" iPhone. Returning it and getting an buying the iPhone SE 2022 again.

iPhone 14 pro is kinda dimmer in lighter or is it true lighting because iPhone 13 pro was brighter. The audio has gotten better especially if your using iPhone 11/12 and below. The shake on the iPhone 13 pro is really bad. iPhone 14 pro camera gotten a big update for sure.
Usually built in gimbals in the past are decent but not that great. This is the first time that I see a tremendous differences in stabilization and can actually be a reason to upgrade as a content creator

Bt as we seee mostly its been used on weddings and functions. For which iphone 13 pro max also justified as no one is running there. Moreover If u want to shoot any hill road or under water shoot. U wont probably prefer this much expensive tool a s iphone with risk of damage or braking I would rather recommend go pro for such shoots

I guess they need to keep the shutter speed very fast, otherwise motion blur would make software stabilisation awful to look at

Because it was the 0.5X ultra wide camera action mode as it defaults to ultra-wide but it can be manually changed to 1X.

Well not really, it's a different mode with a lot more processing.
