  • In this week's episode of Catholic ReCon, guest Sarah Christmyer of comeintotheword.com discusses her journey to the Catholic faith. Though incredibly difficult along the way, Sarah obeyed God and put her complete trust in His will.

This is so good Eddie. My conversion really took place as an adult Catholic. This involved realizing how important this truly was. I went to my parish office by appointment over the phone and found the priest was in rebellion to the church in that he was not in agreement with the Church. The confession was not possible. At this point I became aware of a retreat center in the area, I called and went to pray in the chapel there, I saw on bulletin there, the words on the board, “ confession by appointment “ with a phone number. At this point began my Journey through Catholic truth, I confession many times there, by appointment, mainly with a very wise Italian American priest who was a lifesaver to me, I confessed the same e serious sins repeatedly over a year, and slowly grew into a faithful Catholic. Eventually stopped my sinful ways. At least into venal sins only, even those to cease. This was a Franciscan retreat center.

Not only a great guest, but a greater discussion. You should do more questions/discussion. Thanks!

Yes - Cavins bible timeliine / Our Father Plan is amazing! It really helped me finally get my arms around scripture - the 'timeline' approach turning it virtually into a God's Family Album to me!!
Sarah - thanks for working with Jeff - certainly your efforts trickled down to me around 2006 or so....- what a small world Gods family is! :)

For a long period of my life I was always suspicious of any type of authority. Nothing seemed convincing enough, not even with most teachers. It was not in a rebellious spirit, but more like - is it really true? Says who? That changed when I surrendered to Jesus. He is the Truth, and I have no problem with treating the teachings of the Church authoritative. But I remain a sceptic as to all sorts of "experts" out there in the secular world.
Interestinlgy enough, one of my mum's main arguementsagainst the Catholic Church is percisely all the rules. So what I once did, sneaky me, I started saying about my kids like how they need rules and boundaries and why and she was nodding and agreeing and then I dropped the bomb - same as the 10 commandments/rules of the Church for all people. She was speechless :)

Thank you Sarah, I wish you could come to new Zealand and share your book or your testimony with us. I love her w you started a Bible group in your parish. That's awesome and your awesome talk was great. Thank you Eddie for ypur work too! My husband doesn't like rules in the Catholic church, he forgets that you have to be obedient to God. Sometimes he's too intense and needs lots of graces! Watched from New Zealand 🇳🇿🙏👍🇳🇿❤️

Thanks, I love each one of your video conversion stories. Eddie, I especially like how well you listen to your guests. You don't talk over them, but you let them talk freely. That really impresses me. Coincidentally, while I listened to this talk, I was working on a (1500 piece) puzzle.

I can say this for myself and that is I’ve noticed that when I first started to read scriptures I had no understanding of it but only what I as a single person understood it,but as time went on continuing reading the scriptures I started to realize that reading the scriptures is definitely inspiring and is an introduction to God and his way of life. But the more I continued to read the scriptures I’ve realized that it’s not that easy to understand it at all for there’s a very higher meaning or interpretation of what is said in scriptures

    John 3:3 KJV Bible
“Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
    2 Corinthians 11:3 KJV Bible
“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.”
The papacy has always taught a false gospel. Not the Gospel.

Ahh.. You just can't handle the truth.
Especially noticable by your citing of spurious, self interpreted bible verses.
