I've gotta say at the beginning of the video I was like what's he doing? he's throwing away this amazing opportunity but man, you need guts to pursue what you really wanna do, especially when it means putting on hold part of your dreams. I'm impressed, and I really admire you for making that decision, you're still young so I hope you get to do amazing things this year and when you're ready I really hope you get an animation job!
THE NERD I am 13 years old. I do not have ony idea how is work there. But it is my dream. If I want to work there, I need to study english for be better (all of my english I’ve learned by myself) and I need to improve my 3D design, because I did started whem I was 12. But I still bad ‘~’
@@samayameirelles1521 Damn, you started when you were 12? You're already ahead of everybody. Honestly just keep working on projects you love, and build a portfolio. Right now I'm going into college for animation. Don't worry about how to get there. At your stage, enjoy what you love to do, and the journey will unfold itself. Good luck to the both of you.
You left DreamWorks to try becoming a RUclipsr... ouch. I really hope you succeed here, dude. I feel like if you try going back to DreamWorks you might get turned down for choosing to leave the company for doing something this risky. The feeling of regret for losing your chance to be a part of something would be the worst thing in the world. So don't fail at RUclips, man. Good luck
I don't know about RUclips stuff but of course if you succeed in making your own business it will be better than any job.I think if you try several fields (two at least) of work instead of just one it will be more safe for you so if you fail in one you may succeed in the other fields.Hope to you success & happiness.
Easy Dreams I respect your opinion. But I think you may be working on plan A and later on you realize the whole plan was wrong from the beginning. So there will be a gap between plan A and a new plan A. Living that gap without any income will be painful. Also if you put all your money on plan A you will not be able to start a new plan.
Big news Wade! Been watching your videos and your progression from the start. Congrats on the marriage and the biggest luck for your future. As an animator myself, I can imagine saying goodbye to one of the biggest Animation companies in the world was super tough (Because we all want to be working there forever and ever ! ) but you seem to have a plan so stick to it and good luck! Keep the awesome videos coming
You’re inspirational! I am also working towards a freelance animation career and your journey to becoming an animator has been very helpful in my own pursuit. I hope you succeed in doing what you love and helping others (including myself) do what they dream of doing!
I respect your decision, I know it had to be really tough. I am working towards becoming a character animator myself at 43. Dreamworks is of course on my list of studios I would love to be a part of.
Congratulations on taking that leap of faith! I know it's a hard decision, one that I'm trying to figure out myself, but after discovering your channel I look forward to your journey. Also, so your Palette Gear in the background so I'll definitely be checking out your video on that, that equipment looks super awesome. Best of luck!
Hey man. Just found your channel from your review of the XP-Pen tablet and I have to say I am blown away by the professionality of your channel. If you ever find yourself travelling to South Africa, you'll find plenty of animators to hang out with, myself included! Best of luck going forward!
What you are doing is actually very inspirational! I am quite sure you won't regret your decision, and I look forward to following your successful journey.
Hey there haha, Okay so having a few videos that succeeded a lot in views, and a few that didn't, I think I'm beginning to get a sense of what people want to see and what they don't. Now you, my friend, are definitely something people want to see. I just wanted to say that I really think you got something here! You have a great idea for a channel, you're a cool guy and you have a lot to offer. Although you're getting not too many views right now, I really think you're gonna grow soon. I would just suggest you work more on attracting people, like work on thumbnails and stuff. For example what you did in this video when you started talking about not knowing if you could have been an animator in httyd 3 was amazing! I GOT SO HOOKED! Anyway, I'm sorry this is long but I just wanted to say you're talented and I really like your videos so far, and I'm looking to see more! Good luck ((:
Hi Sir Wade. Good for you for taking the chance. I'd say do it while you are young! Your life experiences(traveling, meeting new people, doing things you normally wouldn't do) will definitely come in handy not only as an animator but as a great story teller! Best of luck to you!!!!
Enjoy this time as much you can! You'll have all the time in the world to make kids and still do crazy stuff! I'm 41, four kids (2 adults and 2 teenager) and I'm going back to the university in 3D and visual effects for movies! Good luck!! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Keep creating and being awesome!
Nice dude. Have you seen Michelle Swann? She's a friend of mine I graduated with years ago. She's been there for 3 years as a Character TD. Like the videos, keep them up!
While you were at Dreamworks, did you notice if they said anything about looking for voice actors and actresses for any of they're upcoming films and/or any kind of casting calls? Or can you not say...
Hi wade! I know I am watching kinds late but I feel I totally relate to your story! I have let some opportunities pass me just so that I could enjoy this reckless phase of my life. I just want to travel, learn and meet other artists before I settle down on an amazing job!!

The chance to rub shoulders with those people and in seeking advice....you had the chance of being mentored by the best - and you left. Ouch. In 20 years, you will be FACEPALM!!! It's called taking a risk and not having everything figured out. If he was able to get his foot in the door the first time, he can do it a second time. Risks and following your gut are what make life interesting.
Taking such a decision takes guts, but it's an amazing thing to do. Animating and traveling with your wife : that's the dream ! :D All good things to you both ! Since you're gonna be traveling, if possible, I think it would be a great opportunity to interview animation artists from many different studios (big and small) from many different countries and cultures. Hi! I am a young 3D animator and I just wanted to tell you thank you for your videos on RUclips... So few people make the effort to share their experiences. I feel less alone in my decisions of career and life. Can't wait to see your next sharings! :D Please, tell us more about your future organisation in your "risk year", how you both handle it. I don’t know if you’ll see this, but do you know if they would hire any hand drawn animators? Like if they wanted a credits scene to be hand drawn, or if it was like Captain Underpants where parts of it are 2D?
Generally no, I don't think for that purpose. If 2D stuff comes up, there's a ton of people already working there who have 2D experience or a desire to learn it that would take on those scenes, so there's really not a need for them to hire people just for those occasions. There are exclusively 2D positions out there, but usually not at the big studios that mainly produce 3D content
@@SirWade Yeah, that makes sense. Thank you so much for letting me know because that definitely helps me to know whether or not to aim for working at DreamWorks or not. You know I have the same thought toward work life I wanna work for a big studio like Disney, Pixar, DreamWorks ...but I fear that I will feel comfortable there and not try new things, I don't want to conform to one thing in this world even if it is my dream, I wanna explore more....you are right!! working for DreamWorks is a dream come true for me too but I still wanna do some new crazy things and get paid for it or not and I prefer to have a skill that big studios want rather than dreaming to work for one studio... I always enjoy learning new things first then applying what I learn and face the challenge kind of gives me a meaning in life...I Really get you, thanks for sharing this...
damn man most animators would kill to get a job at dreamworks lol, but you know what, being on your deathbed knowing the answer to what if i took that year off is more valuable. nice channel man you're a good instructor
You 100% made the right decision. I’m 50, have two kids and am only now doing the entire fun/travel/whatever bit as I had my first child fairly young and of course you just can’t take to many risks when you have a family. Who knows what and where you might be in five years, could be somewhere way more exciting than even Dreamwirks, but if it all turns to mush, you can get back into Dreamworks (or wherever) as the talent that got you there in the first place isn’t going to disappear overnight. Well done, brave and right decision 🤘😎🤟
Can you maybe tell me why visual development interns need to be familiar with Maya? What kind of things they need to do (except 3D modeling and animating of course) - I was wondering why Storyboarders for example need to know Maya in Dreamworks? I only know that people use Storyboard Pro or TV Paint?
I'm a very aspiring 2D animator and I want to do freelance someday. I'm currently trying to find schools for it and I've been practicing/learning a lot. I'm new to your channel and I'll consider watching your other videos on animation! Thanks for the inspiration! :)

Please keep making videos the way you have been doing them, they are a lot more informative and really helped me (and others for sure) understand what it really takes to be an animator. Anyway, good luck on your next step in life and career in animation. My name is Raymond and my wife's name is also Jessica. LOL!!

you should make videos on animation, modeling, depth rigging and texturing and also continue your stuff its very helpful and motivated
I would like to see some tutorials. I want to learn more about animation and modeling.
how to properly adjust curves in maya. because if finished your animation its full of curves.. but how do i know what to adjust?
Dreamworks is such an underrated studio. I love it's weird/realistic/sitcom/not taking things too seriously (like Pixar) taste.

Thank you!! I shared your comment with my wife, we really appreciate it!!
Can you maybe tell me why visual development interns need to be familiar with Maya? What kind of things they need to do (except 3D modeling and animating of course) - I was wondering why Storyboarders for example need to know Maya in Dreamworks? I only know that people use Storyboard Pro or TV Paint?
